The Federal Government has agreed to reopen the access from Keretapi Tanah Melayu (KTM) railway station to the Padang Besar Immigration, Customs, Quarantine and Security (ICQS) Complex after it was closed on Sept 1, 2020.
Home Minister Datuk Seri Saifuddin Nasution Ismail told reporters after visiting the Padang Besar ICQS Complex on Saturday (Feb 25), adding that the reopening will bring relief to the public and help spruce up the economy in Padang Besar.
Saifuddin also said a fenced walkway will be build to ensure the safety of pedestrians, and at the same time to divert the movement of the public from the prohibited area along the Malaysia-Thailand border in Padang Besar.
