A family in a town called 'Shaqra' in Saudi Arabia has been arranging for fasting people to break their fasts for generations. Not only in Shakra town but also in other nearby settlements, everyone is aware of 'All Jami' and their 'Iftari House'. Sheikh Sharifat Hamad Al Jami, is the head of family Al Jami. Sheikh Al Jami said that his family has been organizing Iftar and Suhr for the fasting people every Ramadan for the past 130 years. We have continued this tradition of our ancestors even today. This program is known as 'Iftarghar' in our town.
Abdul Aziz Al-Bakhiti, supervisor of the Iftar program, said that our ancestors had started the Iftar program from their homes, but today our table has become so large that a separate building had to be constructed for it. The supervisor further said that the Iftar Ghar has been modified this year, after which its hall has been widened where a large number of people can sit, and the number of utensils used in which the Suhar food is cooked has also been increased. Dates, coffee, water, samosas and juices are on the Iftar table. After breaking the fast, Maghrib prayer is followed by the meal period, in which vegetable broth and chicken rice are served along with meat curry and roti. As soon as the Iftar meal is over, preparations for Suhoor are started. Vegetable soup, lassi and water are served along with chicken rice in Suhri.
The merit of Al Jami's iftar table is that here, apart from the needy people, travelers and local people, iftar packets are sent to their homes after the Asr prayer, so that they can break the fast with their families.
