00:00 A powerful guardian dog with a sleek coat, a bite force that's almost the same as that of a great
00:06 white shark, and a sheer domineering stature, the Borible is truly a super-powered dog.
00:12 In today's video, we're going to be taking a look at this mighty dog and some of the best
00:18 things about the breed. The Borible is a large guardian dog, also known as the South African
00:25 Mastiff. It is a very remarkable breed that is regarded as one of the most powerful dog breeds
00:31 in the world. They are known to exert an average of 450 pounds of pressure per square inch from one
00:38 bite. Let us make it a little bit more relatable. Think about how powerful the bite of a lion or a
00:44 great white shark would be. The biting power from either of these animals exerts about 600 pounds
00:51 of pressure per square inch. Scary, right? Well, this dog breed is only short of those numbers
00:57 by 150 pounds. Such a powerful bite force for a dog. Getting their name from the word "boer",
01:05 which means "farmer", you can already tell what these dogs were bred for. They were bred to defend
01:11 their home and land. Just like other puppies, Boribles are very laid back and easy to teach
01:18 and influence as little pups. However, do not make the mistake of not investing enough time
01:24 into training and socialization for a Borible puppy. As a result of their intense work rate,
01:31 these dogs are very intelligent and can effortlessly become uncontrollable adolescent
01:36 hoodlums. But treat them right and you'll have one of the most intelligent, loyal, and endearing
01:42 pets you could ever ask for. Boribles are historically guardian dogs that do their job
01:48 with the utmost diligence, which explains why this breed loves their family. They are extraordinary
01:55 when it comes to loyalty and will always take their primary job of protecting their home
02:00 and family very seriously. As powerful as these dogs are, it is both shocking and amazing just
02:07 how cool, calm, and confident they are when executing their protective duties. They are
02:13 very composed and have a very stable temperament, which is not something that is common with most
02:19 powerful dogs. While all this is true, it does not take away from the fact that these dogs do
02:25 not like to be left alone. Their love for the family means they would always want to be in
02:30 the company of these people. As we mentioned earlier, these dogs are intelligent, so training
02:36 should begin as early as 8 weeks. Gotta catch 'em young. It is important to expose these dogs to new
02:42 people, places, and experiences as frequently as possible during their formative weeks.
02:48 With this right kind of socialization, Boribles can be very friendly with other pets, within and
02:54 without the household. If there are other pets in your household, all Boribles need is the right
02:59 training so they know that these other creatures are not their enemies. Large, powerful, energetic,
03:07 you can already tell that these dogs will consume a lot of food. Apart from the quantity of food,
03:13 it is also important to give these dogs quality in feeding. At their early ages,
03:19 it is extremely important that they constantly get the abundant protein they need.
03:24 Since it is a giant breed, you should expect to grow at a very rapid rate. This, in turn,
03:31 causes its skeletons to be less dense and weaker. So be sure to keep an eye on its calcium intake.
03:37 While these dogs can be heavy eaters, be careful not to overfeed them, as obesity is a dangerous
03:43 thing for giant breeds like this. Finally, exercise. But before we get into that, if you
03:50 enjoyed the video so far, please drop a thumbs up down below, don't forget to subscribe to the
03:55 channel if you haven't already, and turn on the bell notification so you get notified when we
04:00 upload new videos. Right, exercise. Considering the governing factor that these are workaholic
04:06 dogs, you have to be very careful not to over-exercise them as puppies. Chances of this
04:13 happening are very high because they are very active dogs. A safe way to do it is to multiply
04:19 their age in months by 5 minutes and have them exercise for no more than that time. An example
04:26 would be if your pup is 2 months old, then all they need is no more than 10 minutes of exercise
04:31 per day. Since Borables are easy to train, then you can always train them early enough to be
04:37 responsive to recalls. You do not want a giant dog like this that does its own bidding. With all said,
04:44 the South African Mastiff is a loving and lovable dog that you will certainly enjoy as an addition
04:49 to your family, but also a really powerful dog that can protect you when it comes down to it.
04:55 It's basically your friendly neighborhood superpower dog. If you think we missed anything
