Off-duty firefighter revives drowned lizard with CPR

This is the incredible moment an unconscious lizard found in a swimming pool was revived with CPR.Local children noticed the reptile floating in the skimmer box and asked an off-duty firefighter from Fire and Rescue New South Wales Station 37 to save its life.Footage shows the unresponsive lizard lying on a table, with the officer repeatedly pumping its chest with a finger. After a few moments, the animal appears to twitch back to life and breathe again.The station said in a post recounting the rescue: 'After more than 10 minutes, things weren't looking good for the little fella, but soon after an occasional 'gasping breath' was noticed. From previous experience, our firefighters know this is not the time to stop so CPR was continued.'Then miraculously 'Lucky' the lizard started to breathe on his own. He was quickly rolled back onto his stomach, and within half an hour with a little sunshine, was back to chasing insects.'It also serves as a timely reminder to know your CPR action plan in and around the water as we head towards the end of summer.
