Drugstore Smokey Eye Shadow Tutorial

00:00 Hello guys, my name is McKenna Pryor and this is my first makeup tutorial. I'm
00:05 starting this YouTube channel because my dream is to become a makeup artist and I
00:12 will be posting videos on different makeup stuff. So if you have any comments
00:22 or tips that I could do better and whatnot then that would be very helpful.
00:27 I mainly use drugstore products like NYX, Physicians Formula, Revlon, Rimmel, L'Oreal
00:38 and whatnot because I don't quite have enough money to be buying MAC or the
00:43 McKay, Borac and all that other stuff but I would love to buy it but I'm slowly
00:50 working my way up in the makeup world. Eventually I'll be using those brands but
00:54 for now I'll be doing tutorials with drugstore products. So for any girls out
01:00 there that can't quite afford more expensive brands like me right now then
01:07 my tutorials are perfect for you. So again if you have any tips on what I
01:11 could do better that'd be very helpful. Please no negative comments and I hope
01:18 you enjoy. Thank you. Alright ladies, I already did my foundation routine before I started my
01:23 eyes so I'm just gonna start right in by curling my eyelashes. I am using my NYC
01:28 eyelash curler. I've had this eyelash curler for I don't even know how long. I
01:33 don't remember where I bought it or when I bought it but I usually take quite a
01:38 bit of time curling my eyelashes because they're super short and I'm so sad and I
01:42 wish there was something I could do about them. Then I'm gonna go ahead and
01:45 use my NYX high-definition eyeshadow base. I'm gonna put that all over my lid.
01:49 I'm only gonna put spots on right now and then I'm going to start rubbing it
01:54 in. I'm gonna be putting it all over where I'm gonna be applying eyeshadow
01:59 which includes underneath my lids.
02:03 I'm going to then use my NYX jumbo eye pencil in milk. I'm going to just spot
02:13 that all over my eyelids and then I'll eventually start rubbing that in. I know
02:18 I already put a primer/base on but this is just more to keep the color so it
02:23 doesn't move and make it pop a little bit more. Then I'm going to use my Revlon
02:31 Colorstay eyeliner in black. I'm going to apply that on my waterline underneath
02:38 my top lid on both sides.
02:42 Then I'm going to apply it on my bottom waterline but I'm only going to
02:58 go about halfway maybe a little bit less. I'm only going about halfway because the
03:04 smokey eye is such a dark color that I don't want to overpower it with a black
03:09 line all the way across my waterline. Then I'm going to use my Physicians
03:15 Formula eyeshadow palette in nude and it's a very all shimmer eyeshadow palette
03:22 and then I'm going to use my e.l.f. eyeshadow brush. It is the just straight
03:27 up eyeshadow brush. I'm going to use the second color down which is a gold
03:31 shimmery color and I'm going to apply that all over my lid.
03:36 I'm even going to carry that even a little bit higher than the lid almost up
03:53 to the brow bone. Then I'm going to use my e.l.f. smudge brush and I'm going to take
04:02 this kind of gray smolder color and I'm going to put that in my crease. It's just
04:08 kind of a base. It's not going to be the darkest color.

04:32 I'm kind of a perfectionist when it comes to eyeshadow. I take a lot of time on it
04:37 to make sure both sides are even.

04:47 Now I'm going to go in and use my e.l.f. concealer brush. I know it's just a
04:51 concealer brush but just use a small brush for this part. I'm going to use the
04:55 very bottom color which is the darkest color on the eyeshadow palette. I'm going to
04:59 outline my outer V.

05:19 I'm going to kind of carry it over to the crease a little bit more. I'm also going to
05:27 carry it underneath my eyelid on the bottom lash line a little bit over
05:32 farther than what I did with the eyeliner pencil. Then I'm going to use my
05:37 e.l.f. blending eye brush. This is just for blending. It has absolutely no eyeshadow
05:43 on it. Blending is key. Blend, blend, blend. You don't want any prominent colors. It
05:51 just all needs to blend together. I'm just blending that darker color in with
06:00 the lighter small. I'm going to take this a little bit darker than that first
06:05 gray I used back with my e.l.f. smudge brush. I'm going to carry that over to kind
06:09 of help it blend better and to bring out that lighter color that I used first.
06:14 I'm going to go in and I'm going to use my e.l.f. defining eye brush. I'm going to
06:22 use the lightest color on top. This is going to be put underneath my brow bone
06:27 as a highlighter. I'm going to carry it down all the way to the corner of my eye.
06:36 Kind of carry it onto my eye a little bit and underneath the corner of my eye
06:39 and meeting it to that darker color that I had carried over underneath my eyelid.
06:47 I'm going to use my Revlon colorstay gel liner. It has a little paintbrush that
07:08 comes with it and this is kind of getting old so I have to smother the
07:11 eyeliner all over the brush. Then obviously I'm just going to apply that
07:16 on top of my lash line not on my waterline. Make sure that the line is
07:24 very even. Oh my lord I have an eyeball now. I feel like my eyes are small and
07:29 beady if I don't have eyeliner on.
07:33 I'm going to use my NYX super skinny eye marker. I'm just going to put that on top
07:59 of the gel liner that I use. I feel like it makes it darker and this one's kind
08:04 of running out too so I have to shake it a little bit every once in a while. I
08:08 like to use my product till it's all done. On icy I must have had a little
08:14 mistake so you can just go over it with your eyeshadow brush. You can apply more
08:18 product if you'd like just to fix your mistakes that you do. I'm going to use my
08:26 Maybelline the falsies big eyes bar and express eye mascara. I'm using the upper
08:33 lashes obviously on my upper lashes. I usually take most my time on my mascara
08:38 just because my eyelashes are really super short and it's hard to even see
08:43 them. I'm sorry about the awkward angle of inside my nose.
08:50 I dare you girls out there to try and put on your mascara or eyeliner
09:14 with your mouth closed. Then I'm going to go ahead and use the same
09:19 mascara obviously and I'm going to use the lower lash brush on my lower
09:23 lashes.
09:26 Then I'm going to use my Maybelline great lash lots of lashes mascara. I
09:44 like to use this because of the pointed brush tip. It gets all the shorter lashes
09:50 a little bit better than the other brushes and I feel like it puts on a
09:55 little bit more product for my bottom lashes too.
10:00 Then I'm going with my smudge brush again and I'm going to clean up any
10:09 mascara that I had gotten on my eyeshadow. I'm just going to check myself out and I
10:15 do have some product underneath the where I don't want so if you haven't
10:21 discovered yet q-tips are a magic eraser so just go through and clean up
10:27 any mess you have. My eyelashes are short I have to go in and over with
10:35 more mascara product. I'm going to go over with my Revlon colorstay eyeliner
10:42 again just because the product kind of came off a little bit in the process of
10:46 putting eyeshadow on. I'm all good.
10:52 Here's a better look at the finished product. Excuse my messy eyebrows I'm
10:59 trying to grow them out thicker so I have not plucked them in a while but
