00:05 and this is what this is what big fight nights are all about aren't they we've had a great
00:13 undercard we've had some cracking fights we've had debuts we've had step ups we've had a little
00:19 bit of everything it's been a real joy it's been it really has been a great night of action but
00:23 this is what we are here for a true 50 50 fight two quality operators who i have to say derry
00:30 have carried themselves so well in the build-up to this fight trash talking suits some people but
00:36 these two have been so respectful and uh in the way they've gone about it really represented the
00:42 sport both great ambassadors for the sport and what an explosive start derry 20 seconds in
00:48 bottom line and big shots it doesn't get better than this they say don't they that you never get
00:54 a bad british title fight and we will not be expecting anything other than an explosive
01:00 close encounter because these two have been in with their some quality operators themselves
01:05 of course both have multiple titles between them and everything is on the line and this is what
01:10 makes the sport of boxing so special when it is a true 50 50 when you cannot call it you don't
01:16 know who's going to win in what way or how and both of these two are going to be pushing each
01:22 other to the absolute limit and we'll see what makes the difference but what an incredible start
01:27 to this fight hannah yeah absolutely i think tommy's come out all guns blazing and he's looking
01:33 very solid in there um i think jay's just still finding his feet just a little bit but they're
01:38 both trading big shots already in the first round it's normally not seeing this straight away but
01:43 no feeding out process for this one yeah of course the flyweight sir renowned aren't they
01:47 derryford you know hand speed work great you know it's you can't take your eyes off these guys can
01:54 you and we've got two fighters that epitomize all of that in front of us yeah listen it's an
01:59 explosive start right away and i was saying before as they took the t-shirts off when he
02:04 making the announcement tommy frank looks huge i think i mean muscles are all over the arse but
02:11 tommy looks huge from from where we're sitting he looks a lot bigger man um of course 24 hours
02:17 i mean i've seen yesterday i mean jay's jay's got muscles on top of muscles but
02:21 size-wise and thickness i think tommy frank looks huge and honest it looks uh it looks like he's
02:28 high it looks like he's very hydrated yeah where jay exchanges here between both fighters they're
02:34 both happy to go and trade blows toe to toe already in this opening round there's certainly
02:39 no feeling out they've gone straight to it this is going to be an absolute cracker as we expected
02:45 don't think we expected the first round necessarily to be this explosive but what a treat we are
02:51 really in for a cracker you cannot and must not take your eyes off this one trading blows from
02:56 every angle body head mixing it up both fighters trying to just get the edge over the other man
03:02 close quarters as well derry nobody's taking a step back really have they've been happy to be
03:08 close up and trade blows from the opening bell this is going to be one of their ones who wants
03:13 it more and then who's got the bigger engine it comes down to yeah absolutely and sometimes it is
03:18 a matter of one out boxing the other these two are very very well matched in terms of ability
03:23 and experience it may well as you say come down to who can bite down on that gum shield
03:28 and digging a long way to go though yeah and i would not want the job of deciding
03:36 any of these rounds whatsoever because that was pretty tight what what where do you have it hannah
03:42 uh i did have to give that one to tommy so frank for me i just landed cleaner punches and looked
03:49 the more solid in the round more aggressive and i think jay just took a little bit of time to catch
03:54 up so i'm getting it to frank gary i'm ashamed 10 9 10 9 for tommy and i thought he started around
04:03 very explosive yeah edvin around as well he's still he's still in control sort of and this is
04:09 this is an exciting this is very exciting stall out from the first bell didn't he step straight
04:14 to him so confused right across the ring and brought the fight straight to jay harris and
04:20 this of course is what you'd expect from i mean he is defending the title it's not vacant
04:24 it's in his hands you know tommy frank is the current holder and that's an important thing as
04:29 well for viewers to note that often is the case you expect the challenger to come and actually
04:35 literally grab that belt from their hands they have to really outbox and it can't be close and
04:39 he's in his backyard it will go to the defending and he's in his backyard and he is here to say
04:44 this is my yard you come to yeah yeah this is my house that's certainly the uh the statement of
04:51 intent that he is going to have to come and grab it from him and he is not going to allow that
04:55 jay harris has got his walk out if he is to take that belt from tommy frank's hands as is always
05:00 the case when you are the challenger but tommy frank has certainly got plenty to say about that
05:06 it is not going to come easy and tommy frank explosive he certainly does look the bigger man
05:12 in there from our vantage point and some heavy blows but jay harris replying and that's that's
05:17 the interesting thing about these fights derry over 12 rounds the momentum the mental and emotional
05:23 shifts that can happen someone can be on top and then it can shift is it a very long journey these
05:30 fights should they go the distance aren't they and it can change and they put miles on the clock
05:34 as the rounds go on as well so you know you've got to be cute in there be in control and try not
05:40 the name of the game was obviously is not get it but at the same time as landing your shots get
05:45 your heads out the firing range and get out of there and as is always the case in boxing which
05:51 makes it such an exciting sport that you cannot take your eyes off it just takes that one punch
05:56 that you get caught with it can absolutely change the trajectory will we see that here
06:02 plenty of big shots being traded yeah supremely conditions the pair of these to
06:08 have the confidence in your fitness to start the fight like this really shows
06:12 they are nobody's giving an inch they're both willing to trade and go at it still fighting in
06:18 close quarters we've not and it's having seen both of these fight before sometimes they have adopted
06:24 the back foot and countered and had a lot of movement neither of them are doing that here
06:28 they are tending to be up close aren't they and trading lots of blows on the inside
06:32 i feel jay settled down a lot more in this round he's been having a lot more success
06:38 um and he you know he seems less sort of he's finding his target this round isn't he's getting
06:44 his distance better and he's throwing more shots as well and again that's what can happen in these
06:49 fights these experienced fighters can absorb a lot and then you know this sort of weight and weight
06:56 and then they start to come strong and come strong and that's what can happen it's a long long time
07:01 12 rounds but uh what an opening two rounds we've had here this has been brilliant to watch this is
07:08 precisely what makes sport in my view the most exciting thing in the world because where else
07:13 do you get the unpredictability the raw emotion moment by moment in real time something happening
07:18 and unfolding in front of your eyes and you've no idea what's going to happen and uh when it's all
07:22 on the line like this seeing two top fighters go at it in the primes of their career it does not
07:28 get better than this british title on the line flyweight tommy frank and jay harris and they
07:34 have treated us to two explosive and scintillating opening rounds how have you seen the second round
07:41 derry in terms of being i've got the notch i've got a 10 10 and i just me too i just felt
07:50 tommy started explosive and then the later later half of the rounds jay come into it and so i'm
07:56 gonna go with a 10 10 yeah i feel like you know jay really kind of responded well in that round
08:02 he looked a lot more comfortable in there and i couldn't split the two of them actually because
08:06 there were some big shots landed by both and both got high work rate as well so i'm going even as
08:11 well really really difficult to separate the two at the moment because they have bitten down on the
08:18 gum shields already and got stuck in there both men fully committed to this of course and that
08:24 is what happens when everything is on the line tommy frank is not going to want to give up that
08:29 title especially on home turf jay harris of course wants to complete the set his commonwealth title
08:36 european title he wants the british title to add to that set but he's got a hard night's work ahead
08:43 of him i feel like tommy's getting more success going forward and and starting the attacks and
08:49 then he's going to finish the attack as well he's letting jay step forward and told various shots and
08:55 he's getting caught with that punches really where he should be on the front foot all out aggression
09:02 absolutely agree with that i think he's definitely more successful as he's coming forward
09:06 if he lets jay push him back that's when he's taking the shots jay harris isn't he's uh he's
09:12 good at very accurate and that those uh is finding its home quite frequently that that backhand and
09:20 lead hook as well from jay harris as we've just seen there finding its target frequently when
09:26 he's at range he's uh bringing him the uppercut there as well of course great work from both
09:32 fighters not taking a step back are they just this is just incredible and they usually hope that a
09:41 fight catches fire like this derry at some point but we we've been blessed to have this right from
09:46 the first 20 first 20 seconds the call fire and sometimes that happens doesn't it and then it
09:53 settles this is not second i hope it doesn't i know it's going to be brutal for them but for our
09:58 benefits i hope it's neither of them giving each other a second to straight back at it jay harris
10:10 nice stiff jab there bringing in the uppercut as well but then tommy frank coming back with shots
10:16 of his own he digs in going to the body back up to the head mixing up the shots the pair of them
10:22 trying to find the angles and just find those little gaps it's like it's like you go i go yeah
10:28 absolutely and do you think derry that either of these have got the power to come up with one big
10:34 punch or are we going to see a fight that's you know because if you haven't got that in your
10:39 locker you're going to have to carve out a win with this kind of work rate and volume of punches
10:44 and consistent sustained attacks as we're seeing it's i think it's going to be down to a battle of
10:49 who's the fittest who wants it more i think also that like you said um you know tommy looked really
10:56 full hydrated well after the the weigh-in and you know he's targeting uh jay's body there yeah and
11:03 if if it in any way he's not fully sort of rehydrated after that and had a tough way in
11:09 then that could definitely play a part as well but so far we're getting tipped out last time i
11:17 seen a fight like this at this pace would it would have been jamie moore yes that was just
11:23 toe to toe like this
11:26 derbyshire yeah and no wonder derbyshire just ran the london marathon in about
11:36 i can't remember the time off the top of my head now but it was it was unbelievable just over three
11:41 hours yeah it's classed as an elite one and i would incredible yes yeah incredible engine and
11:45 we certainly saw that in that fight that was that was an incredible fight on on the fight zone of
11:50 course out in malta it was just constant work for the two of those and again if you don't have that
11:55 massive punch then you have to carve out a win and wear the other man down in a different way
11:59 which both of these two are trying to do there's no giving this at the moment but who we give him
12:04 round three to hannah um i'll have to give that one to tommy i'll give it to tommy as well based on
12:12 what do you think he did best defeat for you too i think he just controlled the pace of the fight
12:16 but the pace of that round much better and landed the bigger punches um jay's also there got a small
12:22 cut on the eye as well yeah we're gonna have to keep an eye on that little nick on the eye
12:26 for jay harris won't trouble him too much at this point but certainly something
12:30 i can hear obviously you may have just heard that from the tommy france corner
12:37 shouting at him and compelling him to go forward shouting that he's cooked put it on him they might
12:43 see this as a little bit of a mental advantage for tommy
12:46 he's certainly responded to the call from his corner tommy frank as he comes forward with big
12:54 blows now the body up to the head he'll be looking to deliberately aim for that cut of course to the
13:02 eye of jay harris
13:13 very very absorbing this fight yes i cannot take your eyes off it is completely i feel
13:20 tommy's winning the rounds on the front foot and applying pressure educated pressure and when he's
13:26 staying there where i can keep him there and keep him working and i think jay jay harris is so
13:31 effective at range that if you give him that space it can pick you up and he's so accurate
13:36 from that mid-range isn't it when tommy frank takes that away from him by coming at him and
13:42 you know staying up close it doesn't allow jay harris that room to get those shots off
13:47 where he's most effective so it's a matter of who can play to their strengths and negate the
13:52 other man's strengths the better i guess in this from a tactical point of view anyway also when
13:57 jay's got his footwork like that and he's dancing around you know and landing as um tommy's coming in
14:04 you know it's definitely to his advantage but then as soon as tommy walks him down puts him on the
14:09 ropes and he hasn't moved that's when he starts to get success again he needs to keep those feet
14:13 moving yeah when he's static jay harris is an open target for him and jay harris is really effective
14:21 and very skilled at finding the target even through the tiniest of gap it can penetrate
14:27 that glove finds its target and goodness me we are seeing an incredible title fight here
14:34 we hope to you hope don't you when you get to top operators when everything's on the line for a fight
14:40 you hope you see a fight like this and uh what a privilege it is to sit inside and see these two
14:46 men give absolutely everything we are only in the fourth round incredible fantastic uppercut there
14:56 from jay harris can he build on it though
14:58 missed with the last couple of efforts landed there though on tommy frank and he's followed up
15:05 against the ropes perhaps seen an opportunity there good job definitely a dominant round for
15:10 harris he's found a space for that another big shot from harris when he's landing he's landing
15:16 eye catching shots isn't it certainly a volume of punches from frank what harris is landing big shots
15:22 here as he continues to come forward and push tommy frank back he's wobbled him a little jay
15:28 harris got the bit between his feet towards the end of that round and a great finish to round four
15:32 for jay harris very very impressive and this is what we're saying this is what makes it so
15:38 fascinating how the momentum and the mental advantage can shift from round to round from
15:44 one round to the next or even within the minutes within the round one fighter can get on top and
15:49 over what a superb fight we have on our hands round four who was saying in four i was going
15:57 on to harris but if you're looking at it you gave harris the second round that's two rounds a piece
16:02 you didn't give it a draw so it's so close so close definitely a harris round for me that round
16:07 still a long way to go in this one we've seen four explosive incredible rounds what will this one come
16:12 down to will it be a matter of sheer exhaustion and who can keep going will it be a matter of
16:19 one big punch what will this one come down to let's see what the fifth round has in store
16:25 working on that cup for jay harris they've forgotten and left the air maybe the cup was
16:32 due to a clash of heads and harris knows that he's got a way to win on points if it goes to the point
16:39 decision yeah j harris can keep that mid-range position and pick it like that he is so effective
16:50 as we've just seen there that backhand is world class he's superb at that mid-range derry he can
16:56 throw straight shots uppercuts hooks he can throw every single shot in his arsenal from mid-range
17:02 and he's so effective tommy frank has got to find a way to not allow him that space
17:07 to be so effective from that range
17:22 yeah i think as well harris started a bit slower but he's now found his place it's found his
17:31 rhythm as they found his range the thing is about harris as well he has been in with some quality
17:38 marcel braithwaite hector collector of course julio martinez yeah the mexican of course
17:46 favorite world class operators yes and so he knows again that this is the long call that he
17:50 might have a couple of rounds that go the other way but you stick with it you don't lose confidence
17:55 you keep coming back and that's disheartening for your opponent as well and they're throwing
17:58 everything at you and you don't budge you stay composed and you keep you keep throwing and
18:04 trading which that's j harris has been in this position many times you will know what it takes
18:10 to get through the rounds and keep coming on strong and this is what we're seeing from j
18:14 harris now he's brought himself back into the fight he's throwing from this mid-range where he is so
18:20 effective and landing on tommy frank more frequently now hannah yeah tommy needs to be
18:26 watch out for that left hand of jay because he's taking quite a lot of left hooks and lead
18:30 jukes all the time yeah he's to get that right hand up there it is again and the thing is that
18:37 i'll take it out j harris from that range is he is really able to adapt change his body position
18:44 get off screw shots body shots uppercuts he can throw everything from that mid-range
18:49 really effectively it's very very hard to defend against yeah exactly and i think tommy slowed down
18:56 just a little bit in this round you know he's not throwing back as much as he was in the first
19:00 couple of rounds so he either needs to up the pace or yeah shorten that distance and be closer
19:05 how can tommy frank close this gap to stop j harris from picking him off at this mid-range where he's
19:11 having so much success derry i think he's gonna punch with him not letting him go and then you go
19:16 the same like he's just so let's watch again just keep going keep going when jr is going to punch
19:22 you've got to punch with him on a closer range interesting to see he lets him go in the corners
19:28 isn't it to um they have been shouting to tommy frank you've got to roll them and presumably
19:34 that's because he is taking a lot of left hooks in particular and they're asking him
19:39 they're shouting at him again and again roll them roll them roll them they do not want him to keep
19:43 taking those left hooks because they are so eye-catching and they are part of what is making
19:49 the difference in this fight for j harris how have you got that one derry round five i've got a 10-9
19:54 jrs and same just just higher volume of punch lands in selection and i felt he's getting into a rhythm
20:01 he's getting the distance perfect and he's actually inviting tommy frank in to score some
20:07 yes call some nice overcuts couple of double left hooks as well it's interesting looking at both
20:13 fighters in the corner obviously needing a little bit of attention to that nick on the eye of j
20:17 harris neither of them blowing heavily considering the unbelievable amount of energy they've invested
20:23 in these opening rounds neither man looks uh anywhere near spent which is uh you wouldn't
20:28 expect either because there's some credible conditioning but neither looks to have the
20:34 advantage so far mentally they're both aware that they're still very much in it's all
20:39 all to fight for but for those who are not perhaps regular viewers of boxing welcome and you
20:46 you really are getting a treat of a fight here because he's got to stay there he's got to stay
20:51 keep him there just got to keep him there now watching uh the british flyweight title fight
20:59 the current holder is tommy frank who's fighting out of the red corner he's in the red shorts with
21:03 the gold waistband his challenger is the welshman j harris in the blue corner fighting in the white
21:10 shorts he will have to come and take this belt from tommy frank as is always the case it's not
21:15 a vacant title his defending champion is tommy frank so the onus will be on j harris to come
21:21 and take it off him and he's doing everything he can to do just that is tommy frank doing a better
21:26 job at closing that gap derby in this round at the start he was but later as it come on to it then
21:32 then j found sort of found a distance like you can see now and i can hear tommy's corner shot making
21:38 a making a dog fight have a fight with him get tight on his chest and make him work and i feel
21:43 that's what he has got to do he has definitely got to do that because as you see like jay's definitely
21:48 found his his space a lot better now and he's landing those big hurtful left hooks um but what
21:54 i do like that tommy's doing is that he's taking the time he is he is investing in body shots
22:00 i think he's hoping to slow jay down
22:02 well jay's coming on strong in this round again yeah who's to who's to say what type of work the
22:13 judges favor it's uh often that we've got it completely wrong from ringside or viewers at home
22:18 we'll be watching and then they get the results and they say what fight have they been watching
22:22 you can't always quite tell what the judges prefer whether they'll prefer that mid-range
22:28 work so far of jay harry's so effective at really pinpoint accuracy or whether they prefer the
22:34 constant close range onslaught of tommy frank who knows but either way i wouldn't fancy the job of
22:41 separating these two but they have put on so far in these opening half of this fight an incredibly
22:47 explosive contest this is who's going to be who's put the work on in the gym who's put the graft in
22:55 in the gym who's being out on the running who's wanted to see who's being chained when they haven't
23:00 felt like training and mentally as well gary what what that does is not just physically prepare you
23:05 but you've if you've put your body through that hell because it does feel like hell when you go
23:10 through it you mentally now know that is in the tank yeah and you've already dug in deep and you've
23:16 got it in the tank to do and that's the difference it makes mentally isn't it 100 you know you know
23:21 you've deleted every box is being ticked in the gym and in the full camp everything's being done
23:26 you're running your conditioning your your nutrition everything's being done you know
23:31 it's all down it's all going to pay off fully in the fight next that was a close one how we call
23:36 in that one you too hannah i'm having an even i'm actually airing just towards tommy on that one
23:43 um i think he came on strong at the end there and i think he nicked around just just and no more so
23:50 honey you've got that 10 9 tommy frank you've got it 10 10 yeah yeah okay well we will see this is a
23:58 really really close encounter now watching this of course on bbci player what an incredible fight we
24:05 have here british flyweight title fight alongside me hannah ranking former wba and ibo champion and
24:13 of course wba interim world champion and former british and commonwealth champion devin matthews
24:18 as well so in very good hands in terms of those who've been in there had to do that very task of
24:24 digging in deep and been on the receiving end of the the glory of that risk and reward and also the
24:30 downside of it and that's what we're going to see tonight presumably unless it's a draw somebody's
24:36 going to be elated and on the winning end of that risk and reward and somebody will be
24:41 very very disappointed but still a long way to go as we enter round seven deep into uh
24:48 the tough side of things now because these two have expended so much energy lovely in these first
24:56 six rounds it is incredible and they are showing absolutely no signs of slowing down not so ever
25:01 i feel like tommy came out this round and decided that he was gonna kind of impose himself a little
25:07 bit more defensively as well hannah just as that hook came in rolling it and making it difficult
25:12 for harris to land and as harris if he can make harris miss with those by rolling it then opens
25:19 him up to counter doesn't it and come back with a few combinations of his own absolutely yeah like
25:24 i said i think he's coming this round to impose himself a little bit more take control and so far
25:29 he seems to be doing that certainly needs to be adopting that more often because when he rolls
25:35 them and makes harris miss it it does leave an opening for him because he really does put
25:39 everything behind those shots harris which leaves him off balance and committed it's
25:44 landing more often than not but when he makes him miss that's creating an opening for tommy
25:49 he's getting encouraged by his corner now telling him that's much better work i think tommy's gonna
25:54 stay as close to count him do not right on his chest all over him like a rash as they say absolutely
26:00 needs to be right up close in his face pushing him back making it difficult
26:03 not giving jay harris any room whatsoever because when he does he is lethal
26:08 i definitely think very topical yeah lovely
26:17 great support from the crowd it's an amazing atmosphere it's a mix between people shouting
26:24 and people just grossed in here because this is uh this is some fight you cannot take your eyes
26:32 off it's so intriguing they still don't know in round seven who this is gonna go to it is gonna
26:38 go to the wire i think this one because neither of these are gonna take a step back they're gonna put
26:44 absolutely everything into this prestigious title of course the british title the lonsdale belt is
26:50 on the line jay harris commonwealth title european title he wants that british title to add to it and
26:57 he knows on the home territory and home turf of tommy frank as the defending champion he's gonna
27:03 have to snatch that belt from the hands of tommy frank and he is doing everything he can to do
27:09 just that tommy frank of course will not want to allow him to take that title on his home turf
27:14 fighting with everything he's got to defend that title and that's why they call it defending it
27:19 derrick because that is absolutely what he's having to do it's got to do yeah there's no i told
27:23 him it's an easy easy contest for the british title it means the world to most people it's
27:27 basically it's a it's a world title in people's eyes it's a massive achievement
27:33 not everyone gets the opportunity to box for once i mean i was seeing around seven
27:39 it's a stunning belt and we can finally say the women are going to be fighting for it this uh
27:44 tomorrow night actually it was very interesting of course absolutely but you know it's a belt
27:49 that i absolutely used and lost after you know i wish we had a chance to fight for that but we did
27:54 ask for it we did ask and we were told it would never happen but the main thing it didn't happen
28:00 for us fine but it is happening yeah for those two fighters that was a conversation we had uh
28:05 four years ago wasn't it and uh we were hoping to do that we didn't get to do it but never mind
28:09 now we can commentate together and look forward to that i see it tomorrow i've seen a bit of
28:15 social media i see uh jazza dickens he was saying it should be called a jane couch belt
28:21 because you know obviously jay jay was the first female to and she she went to the high court for
28:27 the to happen so maybe they should put a belt in a way more than around 17 just quickly i went to
28:33 tommy i went tommy as well what an intriguing fight this is pretty incredible stuff and at
28:42 least you're certainly the doctor because in the whole build-up to this they've had lots to contend
28:46 with of course it was scheduled for a completely different date it was then that didn't happen so
28:51 they had to you know bring the training down they had to reset start again so they've had all that
28:56 to deal with but that's not very hard to deal with as well of course it is and throughout in the
29:00 build-up these two as i say have been exemplary great ambassadors for the sport very respectful
29:06 and they have absolutely let their fighting do all the talking they didn't need to do any talking
29:12 in the build-up to this because this has been sensational everyone knew this was going to be
29:16 a brilliant fight and it's been as soon as it was announced everyone's very excited about it
29:20 so there was there's no need to extra sell this one at all and that's been proven tonight yeah
29:27 absolutely and the two proper two proper professionals absolutely don't live the life
29:31 that they don't they don't they don't don't need to buy mild anymore a lot of respect for each of
29:34 them also we go for a pint after it and make the best man win that's the way that's probably
29:39 more respect for those who you've come up against who when you've had moments which have there have
29:44 already been many in this fight where you're really in the thick of it and you look up and
29:49 you see in their eyes i'm not going anywhere that's when you respect somebody even more
29:53 have huge respect for each other because both men have given each other that look in the eye
29:59 and they neither is relenting and that is where you get that respect from your opponent
30:05 because as great as it is to see from here and as much as we respect them you respect them even
30:09 more when you're in there having that dance together as they say two to tango jj's moving
30:16 his feet a lot more in this round scoring up big big shots there is a slight gap opening up here
30:22 we can see isn't there they've been at close quarters throughout but there's a somewhat of
30:26 a gap starting to open up how about jarrus does look like he's laboring a little bit with his
30:31 breathing there perhaps but that's what can happen from one round to the next and then they can rally
30:35 and come back up. See he's scoring little shots good shot. Great shot and that's effective for
30:43 jay harris to to land and then move off and not allow tommy frank to reply at all because
30:49 previously he has landed those hasn't he and then stayed in range for tommy frank to reply
30:53 but here we've seen a little bit where jay harris is adjusting his feet getting his shots off
30:58 and then opening the gap and not allowing tommy frank to reply at all
31:02 tommy frank now trying to bully him pushing back a little bit
31:07 and get to work he's got him against the ropes he's leaning on him pushing him back trying to
31:15 get his shots off find those gaps but jay harris still coming back soon as the gap opened up he
31:21 was letting go with that especially that very effective left hook which has landed heavy
31:26 multiple times backhand gets through he's got him up against the ropes
31:30 i think what he was doing there really effectively was getting those shots off at that
31:46 mid-range where he's so effective and then he was stepping off and that was making it even
31:53 more difficult for tommy frank to close the gap and get up close and it did look to me that when
31:58 he did get him up against the ropes he had a little bit less gas and tenacity in spite in
32:03 those punches tommy frank which you would expect we are after all into round eight of what has been
32:08 an unbelievably tough fight look back on the footage you can see jr moving his feet a lot
32:16 yeah he certainly was starting to get his catch him on the way in get his shots and then move off
32:22 wasn't he yeah yeah is that something we're going to see more of in these final four rounds from jay
32:27 harris will he be landing those shots and moving off is that a tactic he's going to deploy now
32:32 it's a visual what will tommy frank do it's how much he's got left in the time to do that
32:36 it's certainly moving off a lot more that's very noticeable from jay harris perhaps
32:43 the corner said to him we want you to work and move off and this is what i've seen from jay harris
32:48 before i've not seen him sort of stay as up close as we've seen here with tommy frank usually this
32:55 is what we see from jay harris getting his shots off moving off nice footwork using every inch the
33:00 ring and that's what we're starting to see a bit more from him now and you can hear tommy's corner
33:04 saying he's tired he's run away from you now so well whether he's tired or whether he's just
33:09 looking to open the gap yeah i think it's more tactical personally because i think he's so
33:15 effective at that mid-range if he can get those shots off and then get out of range for tommy
33:19 frank it leaves it nullifies what tommy frank can bring to him doesn't it what does tommy frank need
33:25 to do here hannah now that jay harris is moving more now he's been investing in the body the
33:31 whole fight and i think he's going to continue to try and do that to stop him maybe as much
33:35 because i think that's obviously a concern for them like he's saying he's running now they're
33:39 saying it's because he's tired but i think it's always going to have been something that harris is
33:42 going to be used to his advantage um tommy is riding a lot of the shots but he's got to up
33:48 the right weight when he gets in close once he's there don't waste that time put the shots together
33:54 get those combinations coming what would you be advising jay harris to do here at this stage
33:59 derry if you're in his corner exactly what he's being told to do yeah i think he's boxed up the
34:04 last round and this round tickets being his best round he's got an incredibly experienced coach
34:09 in this corner of course gary lockett yeah screaming at the top of his lungs and plowing
34:16 him to come forward and fire back and meet fire with fire as they're both doing tommy frank's
34:22 corner also this is one of those fights that the uh the coaches live and breathe every every punch
34:27 as well they're uh certainly um certainly going to be hoarse if nothing else after this one their
34:34 heart rates are up and they're in the thick of it too it is that kind of fight what an uppercut
34:40 there from harris followed up by a straight backhand which found its target it was a heavy
34:45 landing punch there goes that lead hook again from harris that's been so effective for him
34:50 he is starting to take over at this stage derry it feels like doesn't it and tommy frank is
34:55 struggling to find the answer he's got him against the ropes now j harris gary lockett screaming at
35:01 him in the corner to stay on his man and to sustain this attack and he is doing tommy frank
35:06 without reply from a few shots there from harris now frank starts to come back with a few of his
35:11 own can harris continue this attack will it be enough is he going to overwhelm him frank looks

35:22 he's he's loading up now he looks like he's got plenty in the tank tommy frank is struggling here
35:27 desperately hanging on seconds left in this round tommy frank matches to see the end of this corner
35:35 have got much to do to help tommy frank recover from this one goodness me j harris took over in
35:40 that one and that is what makes a fight like this so exciting intriguing and fascinating tommy frank
35:48 came flying out of the blocks in the first round he was all over him it looked like it was going
35:54 to be a struggle for j harris but he has rallied he's stuck to his task he's found his range
35:59 he started to put it put it on him and he has been very very effective with that footwork that
36:06 movement he's in trouble here if this continues tommy frank there he there he is he is i've got
36:13 a feeling jr is going to come out now all guns blazing yeah i think he might actually start
36:19 downstairs as well get the ball because he knows he's shattered coaching a body working way up to
36:24 the head and i think steve drake referees just come over to the corner to go and this is going
36:28 to feel like an incredibly long nine minutes ahead of tommy frank i've seen the referee go
36:33 over to the corner he did have a word in the corner perhaps to say show me something tommy
36:37 frank will be willing to do that but sometimes the body just cannot do what the mind is desperately
36:43 asking you to do this one as we said from the beginning might come down to who wants it more
36:49 who's got it in the tank who can dig in and pull it out when it matters and these rounds matter
36:54 a fantastic backhand again from j harris from our position here they are right in front of us
37:00 steve gray with his back to us j harris continuing to come forward with these heavy blows and there
37:07 is nothing steve gray keeps on slowing him down he's loading up with every shot derry they're
37:13 not labored they're still sharp they're still spiteful they're still heavy shots every time
37:18 they're hitting tommy frank yeah tommy frank looking labored and slow with his shots now
37:25 they're not as sharp as they were j harris still looks like when he loads up he's sharp
37:32 he's powerful he still looks like he's got plenty in the tank he looks fresh jannis has got a second
37:38 one it looks like he's got the bit between his teeth mentally it looks like he's got the advantage
37:43 he looks that left hook has landed so many times and with such spite he's going to the body now as
37:51 well and tommy frank less and less able to close that gap in order to work close up against his
37:57 man which is allowing j harris to tee off and catch him at that mid-range where he's so effective

38:06 that is a very very very tough decision for any corner to make but they've done it to protect
38:18 their boxer he felt he was taking too much punishment in the 10th round a great performance
38:25 from both fighters i mean let's just say huge respect to both fighters who have put on their
38:30 a just an unbelievable display of grit heart determination skill tactical changes technical
38:37 ability that fight had absolutely everything gutted for tommy frank not only that great to
38:42 see both fighters not been able to defend his title but that he hasn't seen the final bell
38:47 gutted for him but j harris what a performance he managed to stick in there take over and as we

39:02 gray would have stopped it earlier only he's the champion tommy frank's the champion you know he
39:06 had to rip the bell from him but i just think he was exhausted more than anything i think that's
39:11 a great call by the corner protecting his boxer it's a tough thing to do we often see coaches that
39:16 are brave as they say in the corner but on this one they protected their fighter and he you know
39:21 he'll come again there's plenty more for for him to do of course it'll be deeply disappointing for
39:26 him but he can be incredibly proud of that performance that he put in um tonight it's a
39:33 very very somber corner uh for tommy frank elation in the opposite corner for j harris of course but
39:39 they are both very very respectful and it has been a respectful response from j harris this corner of
39:45 course to delight but a great show of respect between both fighters as they meet in the middle
