00:18 >> Co-main event of the evening, Wednesday night fights.
00:21 My powerful partner is the Magic Man,
00:23 Paulie Molinaggi, former two-time world champion,
00:25 former world champion, Chris Algieri.
00:28 Will you make a comeback, Chris?
00:31 >> Only time will tell.
00:33 I sure won't tell you.
00:34 >> Paulie would be a definitive no.
00:36 Here we go.
00:37 It's time to fight.
00:39 Brandon Reyes in the black and silver trunks.
00:43 Red and silver for Abraham Areola.
00:47 And, Paulie, that is because you spent so many years
00:50 punching people that you battled with your hands.
00:53 [Laughter]
00:55 >> You don't have to cover yourself, Goldie.
00:58 I have no chance of coming back.
01:01 >> And like always, Chris --
01:03 >> They try, though.
01:04 >> They keep trying.
01:06 You get calls, and it might be your polarizing personality.
01:11 >> Perhaps.
01:12 >> Because it ain't my fighting ability at this point.
01:15 >> This one's scheduled for 8-9.
01:17 We do want to let you know that Paulie Molinaggi is doing
01:21 the double duty again tonight.
01:23 >> When we are on camera, it's not that Chris pushes him
01:26 off set and says, hey, it's my turn, buddy.
01:29 Paulie goes to --
01:30 >> Production crew rolls me away.
01:32 >> Literally.
01:33 You got a crew of guys who slides him over.
01:36 >> Slides him over to the Spanish broadcast with the
01:39 beautiful and talented Claudia Trejo.
01:41 Paulie back with us for the call of this fight.
01:44 6-0 and 1 against 4, 2 and 1.
01:47 And the hall of famer, our founding partner, Juan Manuel
01:51 Rios, inside auditorium BB in Mexico City, Mexico.
01:56 All of our programming comes to you in English and Spanish.
02:01 >> Right away, you can tell both of these guys are very
02:04 sharp, very clean.
02:05 This is high-level stuff, even in the opening minute and a
02:08 half.
02:09 >> It's a battle of trying to master who they're going to
02:12 fight.
02:13 You can see Ray is sharp with the footwork, trying to make it
02:16 a fight at range.
02:18 >> Trying to close that gap and stop moving a little bit
02:21 more.
02:22 >> He's exposing that gap quite well, even though he's the
02:25 shorter man.
02:26 He's got a hand of foot speed.
02:28 >> He said, I am a little bit of everything.
02:32 As he looks to earn a victory here tonight in a real
02:37 showcase fight against a 6-0 and 1 Brandon Reyes, who's been
02:41 off for a while.
02:43 Now, Brandon Reyes, let's see if he stays reserved in his
02:46 attack eyes.
02:48 He admitted to us in the fighter meetings yesterday that there
02:51 are times where he gets too excited and puts himself at
02:54 risk.
02:55 >> He gives up on his defense.
02:57 So far, so good.
02:58 He's maintaining range quite well.
03:00 He's keeping his punches long and snappy.
03:03 There you see him crack.
03:05 And then back out and not get touched.
03:08 Good stuff so far from Reyes.
03:10 >> Long and snappy is a great description because he stays
03:13 long and turns that shoulder over.
03:16 >> Yeah, he's learned defensively so far in round one.
03:19 Obviously in round one, both guys are going to be energetic.
03:22 It will be interesting to see how this fight evolves as both
03:25 guys are going to have to make adjustments to one another.
03:28 But a good round so far for Reyes.
03:30 >> Great to be back in what was formerly called the national
03:34 auditorium in Mexico City.
03:36 Elevation 7,350 feet.
03:38 Round one in the books.
03:40 That's it.
03:41 >> Mile high has nothing on this place.
03:44 >> The broncos would be tired playing there.
03:47 >> What's the elevation of plant city where our national
03:51 headquarters are at?
03:53 >> 13.
03:54 >> 13 inches?
03:55 >> Yeah.
03:56 [ Laughter ]
03:57 >> And you're reminded of that.
04:06 If you fly into the airport and you get on the wrong 275, you
04:10 go 10 miles on the water towards St. Pete.
04:13 There's no escaping.
04:29 >> On the scouting report, that man right there, 23-year-old
04:33 Brandon Reyes is billed as the marquee name.
04:37 The inactivity makes this one a little bit of a question mark.
04:43 He is a power puncher and aggressive.
04:46 And we did see that in round number one.
04:49 A good start for Brandon Reyes.
04:51 23-year-old black and silver trunks.
04:53 Red and silver for Arreola.
04:55 >> Yeah, I mean, Reyes, you saw a little bit at the end of the
04:58 round as he loosened up.
05:00 You saw that natural barestine.
05:02 He's got that very high lead left hand.
05:05 He's got that vertical and he lets those left hands fly.
05:08 He's very explosive.
05:10 Cuts those angles and gets in there.
05:12 I like what I'm seeing from Brandon Reyes so far.
05:15 >> Yeah, you can tell he's a well-schooled fighter.
05:17 That was a nice double hook to the top and to the head there.
05:20 Arreola very responsive.
05:21 He's coming up short in the first round.
05:23 But he's not got the winning mentality beaten out of him.
05:26 And he's still looking to fight here.
05:28 Nice return fire with some body shots there on the part of
05:31 Arreola.
05:32 >> And you've got a guy at Garreau, he's 20 years old.
05:34 He's like you can't even look at those old fights because how
05:37 much has he learned and progressed and grown in physical
05:40 maturity since then.
05:41 >> Yeah, and you know what, at 20 years old, you're looking up
05:44 at everything.
05:45 You know what I mean?
05:46 You don't see anything negatively.
05:48 You think you can change the world.
05:50 You think you can change your career.
05:52 So he's here.
05:53 But even with a 6-2 record, he still feels like he can chase
05:56 something with a nice right hand.
05:58 Brace to be careful going straight back.
06:00 He's done it a couple of times.
06:02 >> And he's got a good left hand.
06:04 >> He's got a good left hand.
06:06 >> And he's got a good right hand.
06:08 >> And he's got a good left hand.
06:10 >> And he's got a good right hand.
06:12 >> And he's got a good left hand.
06:14 >> And he's got a good right hand.
06:16 >> And he's got a good right hand.
06:18 >> And he's got a good left hand.
06:20 >> And he's got a good right hand.
06:22 >> And he's got a good right hand.
06:24 >> And he's got a good right hand.
06:26 >> And he's got a good right hand.
06:28 >> And he's got a good right hand.
06:30 >> Good left hand shot there from Arreola.
06:32 Catches Reyes.
06:34 Like you said, Paul, you caught that perfectly.
06:36 He goes straight back at times.
06:38 And he's a tall guy.
06:40 He stands tall, he fights tall.
06:42 Again, in that natural Barrett style and stance.
06:44 And he's open for some of those shots as he pulls out.
06:46 >> And that's the thing.
06:48 He's a bit more square, which in the Barrett style, it helps
06:50 you throw that hook as opposed to when you're overly bladed.
06:52 You give up your hook a little bit.
06:54 So he's a bit squared, which I personally don't like to see
06:56 good guys going straight back.
06:58 At least you're going to blade off when you go straight back.
07:00 You can roll the shoulder.
07:02 But when you're squared up and you go straight back, not
07:04 really much you can do.
07:06 And especially with guys that chase you with straight punches
07:08 the way Arreola has done with a couple of right hands.
07:10 You get hit, a good body shot.
07:12 Arreola's targeted the body well this round.
07:14 >> He's placing those punches really nicely just behind the
07:16 elbows, especially with the right hand.
07:18 >> Southpaw stance for Arreola.
07:20 And having success late in the round.
07:22 And much, Paulie, to your point about the stance, training
07:24 with not a lot of power.
07:26 He loves that left hook, does Reyes.
07:28 And he looked to get one to finish this round.
07:30 But switching the feet and moving forward in round number
07:32 two, nice job done by Abraham Arreola.
07:34 >> That was a nice catch and shoot a few seconds back.
07:36 Arreola catching the hook of Reyes and really firing a nice
07:38 low short right hook from the right-handed stance.
07:40 >> Arreola finished that round well.
07:42 You know, Goldie, I found that kind of curious that Reyes was
07:44 saying that his left hook was his best move.
07:46 And I think that's a good thing.
07:48 >> I think that's a good thing.
07:50 >> I think that's a good thing.
07:52 >> I think that's a good thing.
07:54 >> I think that's a good thing.
07:56 >> I think that's a good thing.
07:58 >> I think that's a good thing.
08:00 >> I think that's a good thing.
08:02 >> I think that's a good thing.
08:04 >> I think that's a good thing.
08:06 >> I think that's a good thing.
08:08 >> I think that's a good thing.
08:10 >> I think that's a good thing.
08:12 >> I think that's a good thing.
08:14 >> I think that's a good thing.
08:16 >> I think that's a good thing.
08:18 >> I think that's a good thing.
08:20 >> I think that's a good thing.
08:22 >> I think that's a good thing.
08:24 >> I think that's a good thing.
08:26 >> I think that's a good thing.
08:28 >> I think that's a good thing.
08:30 >> I think that's a good thing.
08:32 >> I think that's a good thing.
08:34 >> I think that's a good thing.
08:36 >> I think that's a good thing.
08:38 >> I think that's a good thing.
08:40 >> I think that's a good thing.
08:42 >> I think that's a good thing.
08:44 >> I think that's a good thing.
08:46 >> I think that's a good thing.
08:48 >> I think that's a good thing.
08:50 >> I think that's a good thing.
08:52 >> I think that's a good thing.
08:54 >> I think that's a good thing.
08:56 >> I think that's a good thing.
08:58 >> I think that's a good thing.
09:00 >> I think that's a good thing.
09:02 >> I think that's a good thing.
09:04 >> I think that's a good thing.
09:06 >> I think that's a good thing.
09:08 >> I think that's a good thing.
09:10 >> I think that's a good thing.
09:12 >> I think that's a good thing.
09:14 >> I think that's a good thing.
09:16 >> I think that's a good thing.
09:18 >> I think that's a good thing.
09:20 >> I think that's a good thing.
09:22 >> I think that's a good thing.
09:24 >> I think that's a good thing.
09:26 >> I think that's a good thing.
09:28 >> I think that's a good thing.
09:30 >> I think that's a good thing.
09:32 >> I think that's a good thing.
09:34 >> I think that's a good thing.
09:36 >> I think that's a good thing.
09:38 >> I think that's a good thing.
09:40 >> I think that's a good thing.
09:42 >> I think that's a good thing.
09:44 >> I think that's a good thing.
09:46 >> I think that's a good thing.
09:48 >> I think that's a good thing.
09:50 >> I think that's a good thing.
09:52 >> I think that's a good thing.
09:54 >> I think that's a good thing.
09:56 >> I think that's a good thing.
09:58 >> I think that's a good thing.
10:00 >> I think that's a good thing.
10:02 >> I think that's a good thing.
10:04 >> I think that's a good thing.
10:06 >> I think that's a good thing.
10:08 >> I think that's a good thing.
10:10 >> I think that's a good thing.
10:12 >> I think that's a good thing.
10:14 >> I think that's a good thing.
10:16 >> I think that's a good thing.
10:18 >> I think that's a good thing.
10:20 >> I think that's a good thing.
10:22 >> I think that's a good thing.
10:24 >> I think that's a good thing.
10:26 >> I think that's a good thing.
10:28 >> I think that's a good thing.
10:30 >> I think that's a good thing.
10:32 >> I think that's a good thing.
10:34 >> I think that's a good thing.
10:36 >> I think that's a good thing.
10:38 >> I think that's a good thing.
10:40 >> I think that's a good thing.
10:42 >> I think that's a good thing.
10:44 >> I think that's a good thing.
10:46 >> I think that's a good thing.
10:48 >> I think that's a good thing.
10:50 >> I think that's a good thing.
10:52 >> I think that's a good thing.
10:54 >> I think that's a good thing.
10:56 >> I think that's a good thing.
10:58 >> I think that's a good thing.
11:00 >> I think that's a good thing.
11:02 >> I think that's a good thing.
11:04 >> I think that's a good thing.
11:06 >> I think that's a good thing.
11:08 >> I think that's a good thing.
11:10 >> I think that's a good thing.
11:12 >> I think that's a good thing.
11:14 >> I think that's a good thing.
11:16 >> I think that's a good thing.
11:18 >> I think that's a good thing.
11:20 >> I think that's a good thing.
11:22 >> I think that's a good thing.
11:24 >> I think that's a good thing.
11:26 >> I think that's a good thing.
11:28 >> I think that's a good thing.
11:30 >> I think that's a good thing.
11:32 >> I think that's a good thing.
11:34 >> I think that's a good thing.
11:36 >> I think that's a good thing.
11:38 >> I think that's a good thing.
11:40 >> I think that's a good thing.
11:42 >> I think that's a good thing.
11:44 >> I think that's a good thing.
11:46 >> I think that's a good thing.
11:48 >> I think that's a good thing.
11:50 >> I think that's a good thing.
11:52 >> I think that's a good thing.
11:54 >> I think that's a good thing.
11:56 >> I think that's a good thing.
11:58 >> I think that's a good thing.
12:00 >> I think that's a good thing.
12:02 >> I think that's a good thing.
12:04 >> I think that's a good thing.
12:06 >> For those who come to fight,
12:08 Paulie, I'll hit the purple corner
12:10 and they'll bring it.
12:12 So forget about those two setbacks.
12:14 Let's showcase the skills that this young man has.
12:16 >> We just saw that in the fight right before here.
12:18 Guerrero coming in last minute and knocking off the inside.
12:22 >> Good transition here in the third.
12:24 >> Yeah, he has that nice turning the hook over from the jab.
12:28 From Mariola, he uses the jab to get Reyes to go straight back.
12:33 And then from there, he threw that hook right in.
12:36 Again, setting little traps in there as well to close the gap.
12:39 And Reyes' instinct is to go straight back while he's squared.
12:42 And that's why he falls for-- he takes the bait.
12:45 He goes straight back and then Reyes is able to make him pay.
12:47 I mean, Mariola is able to make Reyes pay.
12:49 >> Round four scheduled for 8-6-0-1.
12:52 Brandon Reyes, black and silver.
12:54 His opponent, Ariola, in the red and silver trunks.
12:59 Mike Goldberg.
13:00 >> The Magic Man, Paulie Molinaggi, Chris Algieri.
13:03 I love working with my powerful partners.
13:05 We have some fun.
13:06 We do a ton of different programming here on Pro Box TV.
13:10 It's all yours until May 1st.
13:12 And then if you want to just forget about those commercials,
13:15 I think it's worth the $1.99 to not watch those ads.
13:18 Especially, Paulie, when once in a while the same ad just keeps coming over and over.
13:23 >> I'll tell you what, you can still keep it for free with the ads.
13:25 I mean, nothing's going to change for you if you want to keep the ads.
13:28 You still get all the great content that we have at Pro Box TV.
13:31 But if you want to eliminate the ads, you can start paying $1.99 a month starting May 1st.
13:35 Either way, you can enjoy Pro Box TV the way you choose.
13:40 >> Pro Box TV, your boxing channel.
13:43 Long overdue to give the great boxing fans around the world this type of coverage nonstop.
13:50 And Reyes inside, but he eats a left hand.
13:53 Ariola's changed his stance a couple of times.
13:55 He's back to southpaw here.
13:57 >> A lot of pressure coming from Ariola's side.
13:59 Really, the switching of the stance, it doesn't seem like he's trying anything new.
14:03 He's just stepping through with his power shots and ending up in that position and having success.
14:08 If it ain't broke, don't fix it.
14:10 >> Like I said with the masters this weekend, the golf channel is there 24/7.
14:14 With boxing every day, we are here 24/7.
14:18 >> He's having some good success with those wide shots, especially that right hook from the southpaw stance.
14:23 He landed it a couple of times.
14:25 >> One criticism of Reyes, he doesn't really adjust his height when he gets close.
14:30 He still stays high up.
14:32 It's good to be high up when you're at that medium range.
14:34 You can control that range with that jab and up high stance.
14:37 But at close range, he still remains high up.
14:40 And Ariola has some good success landing those loopy shots.
14:43 >> Last round, you mentioned the transition of Ariola, how he goes from defense to offense.
14:47 And it's the exact opposite of Reyes.
14:49 His transition from offense to defense is terrible.
14:51 He gets a crack with shots as soon as he stops punching.
14:54 >> Yeah.
14:55 >> Exactly.
14:56 And that's actually, for me, it's becoming the difference in this fight.
14:59 >> Yes.
15:00 >> And it would seem, tell me if you guys agree, it would seem that Ariola has had more effective offensive output from this southpaw stance.
15:08 >> Wow, big shot.
15:10 >> His contact, his connect percentage in this round especially has been through the roof.
15:16 >> And mostly from the southpaw stance.
15:18 >> Yeah, he's mostly from the southpaw stance.
15:20 But, yeah, that right hook has been landing, which the left hook was landing in earlier rounds.
15:24 There it is again.
15:25 Found a home for it.
15:26 >> Again, if Reyes doesn't come up with the adjustment to not be so high up, he's going to keep taking these loopy shots.
15:32 And there's a couple of headbutts as well if he's going to go Ariola butted him again.
15:36 It's starting to become a frustrating night for Reyes.
15:40 He's going to need some good instructions from Nacho in the corner.
15:45 >> And stuff for Reyes because the things he's doing right, he's doing really well.
15:48 But the things he's doing wrong, he's doing quite poorly.
15:51 >> Cesar Francis, a fighter who we have showcased on numerous occasions here on Pro Box TV, said, and I quote, "You want an easy fight, don't fight on Pro Box."
16:07 And we're finding that to be the truth here in this Koman event of the evening.
16:12 [MUSIC]
16:18 >> Good round for the 20-year-old.
16:20 >> And look at how he transitioned that uppercut from the outside.
16:24 Look at how he disguised it very nicely.
16:26 He takes that dip where you look like he's going to come with a hook or maybe an extended jab.
16:31 Instead, he throws a nice uppercut.
16:33 And here again, a little nice way he shuts up the right hook.
16:36 Throws that left hand, gets his body over, and then comes over the top with a right hook.
16:40 And again, it's also on Reyes for standing high up and not adjusting his height at that range.
16:45 >> Brandon Reyes turned professional in 2017.
16:49 Only seven fights in six years.
16:52 He has got himself his hands full as we've hit the second part of this eight-rounder.
16:57 Scorecards, Chris, through four.
16:59 >> I actually have it even 2-2 right now.
17:01 It's first two rounds for Reyes and the next two for Areola.
17:05 But the momentum is certainly in Areola's corner.
17:08 >> I got a 3-1 Areola.
17:10 I had the first one for Reyes, but I had every other round for Areola.
17:14 >> And again, he comes out southpaw, and it has worked well, so why go away from it?
17:20 >> That uppercut again, he's finding a home for it.
17:23 And then once he gets close, he's able to put those combinations together where he wants to be.
17:27 >> You know what I like what he did there, Paul, is he added to what he landed last round.
17:30 That right uppercut works, I mean, for the left hand behind it.
17:33 >> Yep, and Reyes falls for the deception clearly.
17:37 I mean, again, the lulls in his defense really cost him.
17:41 >> Reyes even said in the fighter meetings that he thinks that he is good at the basics.
17:45 He likes to take his time, maintain composure, wait for the right moment.
17:49 But it is his opponent tonight who's finding some chinks in that armor.
17:53 >> Yeah, I mean, he's good at the basics of offense.
17:55 He's not good at the basics of defense.
17:57 And what you said about Areola saying, you know, he self-admittedly said,
18:01 "Yeah, I kind of do a little bit of everything."
18:03 It's true. He's showing it.
18:04 He switches right, he lefty, he throws the right hand, throws the left hand.
18:07 He adds to things. I mean, yeah, he's been a man of his word so far.
18:11 >> And he's just, Paul, he's already 20 years old?
18:13 >> Yeah, he's just 20 years old, and he's a rough customer, I tell you.
18:16 He's a rough customer.
18:17 >> One thing I've been told about the basics with Reyes,
18:20 one thing you can always do to add to make the basics a little more effective,
18:23 you can feint, and that's something that Reyes doesn't do at all.
18:27 So when you're a basic fighter, it's good when you have your basics and fundamentals down pat,
18:31 but you can also start to become easy to time because you're so basic.
18:34 So if you drop in some feints among those basics, all of a sudden, you know,
18:38 it makes those fundamentals even tougher to deal with.
18:41 But he doesn't have those basics, and his defense is anything but basic
18:45 because he's squared up, he goes straight back.
18:48 It's poor, and that's what's cost him against Areola tonight.
18:52 >> Interesting you mentioned the feinting, and his favorite fighter is Juan Lomel Marquez,
18:58 who is a fantastic feinter.
18:59 >> We'll take some of that from the plate.
19:02 >> Yeah, for real.
19:03 >> He has lived in Mexico City the past eight years.
19:09 That is Brandon King Reyes, who got to the body of his opponent there.
19:13 30 seconds on the clock here in round number five, and they're swinging.
19:18 Entertaining co-main event, guys.
19:20 >> Yeah, absolutely.
19:21 I mean, this is Pro Box, all the fights are entertaining.
19:23 Something I can tell from this kid, Areola, from the fighter meetings yesterday
19:26 to what I've seen so far tonight, I don't see him slowing down.
19:30 I think he's going to keep pushing.
19:31 He seems like a rough and tumble kid, and he's happy to be here.
19:34 >> Yeah, he likes this kind of fight.
19:36 >> Lived in Dallas, Texas, did Reyes from 2012 to 2015.
19:44 So for about three years, came back, as you guys talked about earlier,
19:47 just to watch the Marquez brothers train.
19:52 [Music]
19:54 >> So Reyes, I mean, his offense has been good.
20:06 He needs to, like Paulie mentioned, use a little bit more feinting,
20:09 because he's got a guy who's very explosive in front of him,
20:11 and he's beating him to the punch throughout.
20:13 He's too tall when he's backing out straight,
20:15 and he needs to stay a little bit more defensively sound when he pulls out.
20:18 Again, his offense has been good.
20:19 He's got a nice right hand, but as he pulls out,
20:22 he needs to be more defensively sound to round out his accommodations.
20:25 >> The things I like about Ariel so far, I mean, what's not to like?
20:31 I mean, he's been aggressive.
20:33 He's believed in himself despite the 4-2 record against the undefeated guy,
20:36 and he's made himself awkward changing stances
20:39 and using those loopy shots against the upright stance of Reyes.
20:46 If you keep closing that gap, the upright stance of Reyes will work against him.
20:50 At mid to long range, Reyes can have more success.
20:52 So Ariel doing a good job of finding deceptive ways to close that gap,
20:56 be it the uppercut and other shots.
20:58 >> Round number six.
21:00 We have definitely seen Abraham Ariel with that "I will knock or be knocked out"
21:06 attitude and approach to this fight.
21:08 Doing so, though, trying not to be reckless defensively
21:12 in order to deliver those shots.
21:14 And all four wins were finishes.
21:17 He was finished in his two setbacks.
21:20 Ariel looking very good here tonight against Brandon Reyes in our co-main event.
21:25 >> Yeah, he's having just a much more top-to-bottom performance at this point.
21:28 He's got the offense. He's got the defense.
21:30 And, Paul, you said he's awkward, but I think he's actually making it look good.
21:34 He's just being elusive. He's being hard to find.
21:37 Reyes has no answer.
21:39 >> Yeah, I mean, I think for Reyes it's awkward
21:41 because I don't think he expected it.
21:43 The stance changes and the consistency here of Ariel has been very, very impressive.
21:49 >> And the vigor. He's in this fight.
21:52 He wants to push the pace and keep the hands flowing.
21:56 >> Main event still to come. Ten-rounder in the welterweight division.
22:00 Two men with impressive records.
22:02 A combined 44-1 for Sanchez and Duran.
22:08 >> Duran's got some chin.
22:09 He's been getting clipped with some punches that he has not been seeing
22:12 from these little weird-angled shots that Ariel is throwing.
22:18 Always makes you miss, makes you pay. Comes right back.
22:23 >> Yeah, very responsive, very reactive.
22:25 That's one of the things that's actually been so beneficial for Ariel
22:28 because Reyes' defense, especially after he's done throwing, is really, really lacking.
22:35 >> I think one of those body shots really bothered Reyes.
22:37 You see him take a big, heaving breath. His mouthpiece almost popped out.
22:40 It was a left hand right underneath the elbow.
22:43 You see him wincing and kicking his mouthpiece out of his mouth a little bit.
22:47 >> Trying to get that extra oxygen.
22:51 >> Especially those Mexicans without mouthpieces.
22:53 They wear those really big gum shields.
22:55 >> You can't breathe. >> Yeah, you can't breathe through those things.
22:58 >> Whoa! Up the middle. >> Oh, man.
23:02 >> Nasty attack.
23:03 >> Tell you one thing you can give Reyes credit for is his chin.
23:06 He's been getting shocked.
23:08 >> Big round for Abraham Arriola.
23:11 >> Yeah, he's taking it out of him now.
23:14 >> Oh, boy. Big round.
23:16 >> He has won all of his fights by knockout.
23:19 And he's trying to finish Reyes in our co-main event of the evening.
23:23 Arriola coming off a six-rounder.
23:26 It was a draw. It was his first six-round fight.
23:29 He went the distance two fights ago.
23:31 A six-round unanimous decision victory for Reyes
23:35 as we are going to enter uncharted waters for both men in eight seconds.
23:40 >> I'm surprised Arriola is letting him off the hook here.
23:42 That was a situation I think I would have jumped all over Reyes.
23:45 He landed a bunch of punches and definitely had him hurt in holding
23:49 and let him survive the last 30 seconds of the round.
23:51 >> I'll tell you what, though, champ, maybe because it's uncharted territories for him as well,
23:55 maybe he figured, you know what, let me take a step back here
23:57 as I got two more rounds to go, two more rounds that I've never seen before.
24:00 Let me re-oxygenate as he didn't throw another punch the rest of that round.
24:03 And he's probably figuring, I'll get back on him next round.
24:06 >> He could have punched himself out, too, a little bit.
24:08 He did throw a lot of punches.
24:10 And has been consistent all night.
24:12 I mentioned that last round that I thought a body shot had hurt Reyes,
24:28 and that was the exact punch I was talking about.
24:30 It was a left hook that went right around the elbow.
24:32 And then after that, that set up a fusillade of punches coming from Areola
24:36 as Reyes backed out straight, sticking out his gum shield.
24:39 Certainly looked like that body attack was having an effect.
24:42 >> I'll tell you what, we'll complain about Reyes not bending down.
24:44 That body shot will get you to bend down.
24:46 That's what Reyes is doing just after that body shot.
24:48 >> That body shot will help you take a seat.
24:50 >> First time the 20 or 23-year-old has been in a professional bout.
24:58 That moves to round number 7.
25:01 Brandon Reyes in the black and silver trunks.
25:04 Abraham Areola in the red and silver trunks.
25:09 Through 6. Who do you have?
25:11 >> I got it, I'm sorry, I got Areola up now.
25:16 Four rounds of 2.
25:17 >> Yeah, I got it 5-1, Areola.
25:20 He's been running away with this thing.
25:22 >> So at one point, you had it even, Chris,
25:25 and now you see Areola running away much to what Pauly just said.
25:28 >> Yeah, I gave Reyes the first two rounds and that was it.
25:30 The second round was close.
25:32 The champ said he's got it.
25:34 He had Areola winning that round.
25:36 I gave it to Reyes. Close.
25:37 But since then, it has been all Areola.
25:39 Some of those rounds, barely squeaking around by
25:42 or completely dominating Areola.
25:44 >> A professional fight for Reyes.
25:49 He has not been stopped.
25:51 In fact, he has not lost.
25:53 >> There's more enthusiasm on the part of Areola.
25:55 He's really believing in himself, chasing the action down.
25:58 He's trying to follow up when he lands a punch
26:02 with other combinations like he's doing right here.
26:04 There's not really a lot of enthusiasm on the part of Reyes anymore.
26:07 It's almost been beaten out of him.
26:09 >> Yeah, that's what I was saying last round.
26:11 It looked like Areola was really beating the fight out of Reyes.
26:14 You're seeing that this round.
26:16 >> Listen, there's been multiple headbutts all night long.
26:19 Reyes didn't complain until now.
26:21 He doesn't have that same vigor in the fight that he had earlier.
26:25 >> And it's funny.
26:27 A few of them have been coming right at the end of the combination.
26:29 So Areola seals the combination with a headbutt right at the end.
26:32 Might be cut here.
26:34 >> Oh, yeah.
26:35 >> Take a look at the accidental headbutt.
26:43 >> Areola does jump in at times.
26:45 That was one of those times as well.
26:47 There's been a risk.
26:48 A couple of butts have happened.
26:50 It would already be a risk if they were both fighting right-handed.
26:53 But here, I guess the doctor stopped the fight.
26:56 >> Yeah, the doctor's going to stop it.
26:57 And you talked about it right away, Paulie, the cut.
27:00 And when that cut is in a bad spot, like it is over the left eyeball of Brandon Reyes,
27:07 if it's above the eyebrow, maybe you can keep going.
27:11 If it's below, that's a great stoppage by the doctor.
27:14 Let him come back and fight another day.
27:16 >> Yeah, that cut just above the eyelid on the lead eye is always very dangerous.
27:21 The blood tends to drip right into the eye.
27:23 You're blinded and that's your lead eye.
27:25 You need to see the punches coming, especially the right hand.
27:27 Probably a good move on the doctor's part.
27:30 >> Paulie is a veteran of five different eye surgeries, including a gas bubble.
27:35 I'm glad they take care of these young men's eyesight.
27:38 >> Oh, yeah.
27:39 >> Doctor comes in and says, no, no more.
27:41 >> And honestly, it was a situation where he was having no success at this point in the fight.
27:45 Might as well stop the fight, let him get back to it.
27:47 >> Yeah, it wasn't getting any better.
27:49 >> So Abraham Arriola stops Brandon Reyes.
27:58 Round number seven.

28:32 Long overdue, it is your boxing channel.
28:35 Check out the website, too, which I know that I think that Chris is doing right now, Paulie, just to take a look at how good he looked on some of the talk shows earlier this week.
28:44 >> I got to look the part, too.
28:47 This new role.
28:49 I used to try to look good in the ring.
28:51 Now I have to look good while I'm talking about people in the ring.
28:53 >> Well, if guys keep calling you out, you might be trying to look good in the ring again.
28:57 >> That's true.
28:59 >> Early on, Reyes looked sharp.
29:06 He was double tripling up that lead hand.
29:08 He was having good success early on.
29:10 But, I mean, areola, he was just lying in wait, coming on, big shots exchanged there.
29:15 Areola then in round number four switches sides, comes out southpaw and has even more success.
29:20 Really can't miss with the left hands and the right hands.
29:22 And Reyes has no answers.
29:24 From that southpaw position, Reyes was really befuddled with what areola was bringing.
29:29 And, I mean, from then on, it was just all areola.
29:32 Reyes showed an excellent chin, took really big shots upstairs.
29:35 But then the body work from areola really had Reyes in trouble.
29:39 There you see two big shots that had him backing up and breathing heavy.
29:43 And then that last round, another combination cemented with a head butt, literally cemented, causes a cut over the eye.
29:51 And the doctors check it out, it was in a bad spot.
29:54 And we end up going to the scorecards there.
29:56 Here we see that head butt right there.
29:58 And that was all she wrote.
30:00 >> And the funny thing, a lot of those combinations, they wore head butts in the midst of those combinations as well, all night.
30:05 >> All right.
30:06 The official decision is in.
30:08 We would expect them to go to the scorecards.
30:10 And here is Pablo Flores.
30:12 [ Bell ringing ]
30:15 >> Ladies and gentlemen, an accidental head butt does not allow the red corner to continue.
30:20 Therefore, we go to the judges' scorecards for a technical decision.
30:24 [ Speaking Spanish ]
30:35 >> Judge, el juez, Humberto Olivares, he scores it 79 to 74.
30:39 [ Speaking Spanish ]
30:44 >> And Hector Mendiola had the same scores of 80 to 73.
30:47 [ Speaking Spanish ]
30:51 >> For your winner by the way of technical decision.
30:54 [ Speaking Spanish ]
30:58 >> Familia Boxing Gym, Ciudad de Mexico, Abraham Gallo Arreola.
31:07 [ Bell ringing ]
31:10 >> Scorecards had a definitive lead for Abraham Gallo Arreola.
31:16 >> Brandon King-Reyes.
31:19 >> Gets his fifth career win, accidental head butt, doctor's stoppage in round number seven.
31:25 But a fight is on the line.
