00:00 Hi everyone, so I hope you all had a really lovely festive season and new year and I
00:04 thought to get things started with 2014 here on Vivienne Does Makeup I will look
00:08 back at my favorites of 2013. So it's kind of like 12 months of monthly
00:14 favorites all in one video and the picks are probably going to be a bit obvious
00:19 as I go through. If there's more in-depth reviews on anything that I mentioned I
00:22 will link them below. But it is a bit of a tradition for me, I think this is my
00:26 fourth year of doing it and I actually like to go back and watch my old ones to
00:30 kind of see what I was loving back in the day and it's kind of like a bit of a
00:34 makeup diary for me and there's actually gonna be two parts to this otherwise it
00:38 was gonna be way too long. So there's one video today and then the next video will
00:42 be up on Sunday and the one today is focusing on makeup, tools and nails and
00:47 then Sunday's video is going to be body care, skincare and hair care. So I'm
00:51 gonna kick things off with my favorite primer of the year and it's definitely
00:54 got to be the Hourglass Mineral Veil Primer. I love this stuff and it's one of
00:58 the only primers that I've ever used that actually helps foundation stick to
01:02 my face that little bit longer. It leaves my skin feeling very satiny, makeup goes
01:06 on so beautifully over the top and it doesn't leave things looking too dry
01:10 which I find a lot of primers can make things look too matte. Now if you're a
01:14 regular watcher of these videos my favorite foundation of the year will
01:17 come as no surprise to you Giorgio Armani Luminous Silk Foundation. Of
01:22 course I use the shade four in the winter and six in the summer and it's
01:25 basically flawless skin in a bottle and I've gone on about this so much so I
01:30 will leave that one there. The best tinted moisturizer category was a bit of a
01:34 toughie but these two came on top and yes there's two because I kind of couldn't
01:38 pick between them but the Jouer Matte Moisture Tint and I have the shade
01:42 Linen in that and then the Luminizing Moisture Tint and I have the shade Pearl
01:45 in this and actually together they just make the perfect tinted moisturizer. It's
01:51 got just the right amount of coverage, it's not too matte, it's not too dewy
01:55 because you've obviously mixed them both. If I'm having more of a greasy day
01:58 then I'll go for the matte one, if I'm having more of a dry day or I just need
02:02 a bit more glow I'll go for the luminizing one but I really really love
02:05 these two. For concealer at the beginning of the year I was all about the Bobbi
02:09 Brown Creamy Concealer and I think that has actually been my favorite concealer
02:13 for the past three years I could be wrong but I think that was definitely a
02:16 constant in my last year's video and the one before that and the one before that
02:20 but I found this in the summer and I kind of haven't looked back since and it's the
02:23 NARS Radiant Creamy Concealer, I have the shade Vanilla in this and this is just
02:27 amazing it's so blendable, it's got amazing coverage, I use it on blemishes
02:32 and on my baggy eyes and it kind of works really really well for both and I
02:36 just love it, it's so creamy and so natural looking on the skin. For bronzer
02:41 there has been no change it is still NARS Laguna Bronzer, I just love this
02:46 stuff. I have to say I haven't been wearing bronzer as much as I used to but back in
02:51 the summer I was still piling it on, this has been my favorite for the last like
02:55 four years now ever since I first purchased it and nothing to me comes
02:58 close, it's basically sun-kissed skin in a compact. Now I'm not traditionally a
03:03 powder girl, back in the day I was a big fan of the MAC Mineralized Skin Finish
03:08 but this year I found a powder-ish kind of thing that made me change my mind and
03:13 I actually think it's great, it really helps at giving the skin a bit of glow
03:17 but setting things and like keeping my makeup really adhere to my skin and it's
03:21 this and it's from Hourglass and it's their Ambient Lighting Powder in Diffused
03:24 Light. This is great because it's got a yellowish hue to it and as you can see
03:29 I'm naturally a bit ruddy in my complexion so this kind of helps to tone
03:33 that down a bit. My favorite highlighter of the year has to be this one from RMS
03:37 and it's their Living Luminizer and not only is this stuff packed with skincare
03:42 goodness, coconut oil and all that shebang but it just leaves a really nice
03:46 sheen on the cheeks or on the inner corners, cupid's bow, wherever you want to
03:51 pop it and there's not any like glitter or shimmer really in sight, it's more of
03:55 just like a sheen, I'm naturally very glowy. Now big news because this year
04:00 I've had to add a category, this category has never existed in my yearly favorites
04:05 before and it is Best Contour of the Year and I was never really into contouring
04:11 before this year, I'd heard about it, always looked really difficult and
04:13 horrible to do but then I found this product, everything slotted into place
04:17 and I'll contour all the darn time and it's because of this product and it's
04:21 the Kevyn Aucoin Sculpting Powder in Medium. It is just amazing, it basically
04:27 carves out cheekbones even on someone who really doesn't have cheekbones, that's me.
04:33 I'm not a huge blusher girl but it kind of came down to two fighting out to be
04:37 my favorite of the year and it was between this, the winner and also the
04:41 Max Factor I think it's called Creamy Touch in Soft Pink, you know the really
04:46 tiny cream blusher from Max Factor that's a gorgeous pinky shade, I love
04:49 that one but this kind of pipped it to the post and it's the Tarte Amzonian
04:53 Clay Longwear Blush in Tipsy. I just think this is my all-time favorite
04:59 favorite blush shade, I can see this being favorites for years to come. It is so in
05:04 your face, you need such a tiny tiny amount of it, it looks like I've barely
05:08 even touched it because it is so pigmented but whenever I wear this I
05:11 always get people saying "oh you look really good today, you look really healthy and
05:15 glowy" so I always go for this if I'm feeling a bit mmm, pop this on and just
05:20 instantly feel like more woken up and amazing so I love that one. Then moving
05:24 on to eye things, my favorite eye primer, oh my word, previous years it would
05:30 always been the Urban Decay Primer Potion, then I found this, it's miles,
05:35 miles, miles better. I always found that the Urban Decay Primer Potion was a
05:39 little bit too thick and kind of just difficult to blend and a bit smeary. This
05:46 incredible, it's the NARS Pro Prime Smudge Proof Eyeshadow Base. I originally
05:51 had a tiny little sample that came along with a palette, had to buy the full size
05:55 of this, it's amazing. I have really oily eyelids but this just keeps anything that
06:00 I pop onto my eyelids in place and it's very transparent and thin and easy to
06:05 blend, it's like you blend it in and it's not even there, incredible stuff. With
06:09 eyeshadow it's always a bit of a tradition that it goes to MAC All The
06:12 Glitters which is this one here but actually for once it's not All The
06:17 Glitters, I still love that shade, you can see it's easily the most used out of the
06:20 palette but I really love Sober which is this one here which is kind of a more
06:24 it's like less shimmery, more golden, very natural, very subtle. I've got it on my
06:31 eyes today with another colour in the crease and it's just my go-to for when I
06:35 need to put something on my eyes but I can't really be bothered to put anything
06:38 in the crease or blend it out or fanny around with it too much, I can literally
06:42 just sweep this on with a fluffy brush, put on some mascara and be done and I
06:46 love that. My favourite eye pencils of 2013, well that is an easy one, it has to
06:51 be these, these are from Rimmel and they're the Scandalize Waterproof Eye
06:55 Kohl Kajals, I think that's how you say and I love the shade Taupe which is just
07:00 a natural kind of no shimmery metallic grey, it's a very natural matte grey,
07:05 Bronze which does what it says on the tin and then Nude, I've got this on my
07:10 waterline today and it's amazing at just nuding out kind of any redness that
07:15 you've got, these are incredible, they're really pigmented, really long-lasting and
07:19 very creamy and easy to use and very cheap too. Now unfortunately 2013 was the
07:24 year that L'Oreal Telescopic Waterproof Mascara was discontinued, sheds a tear, and
07:30 I still to this day haven't found anything that is as awesome as that one.
07:34 I've actually still got L'Oreal Telescopic Waterproof on today because
07:38 I love it, I have like three hanging around in my drawers, I just think it is
07:42 the best mascara but this one came close and I guess because this one you can
07:46 actually get your hands on I would say this is my favourite, if it wasn't L'Oreal
07:50 Telescopic Waterproof Mascara it's this and it's the Max Factor Full Slash
07:54 Effect Waterproof one, really big fat, fat brush, nothing like the L'Oreal at all but
08:00 it just builds up your lashes, holds a curl, that's very important and kind of
08:05 stays put pretty well so that gets a thumbs up from me. Moving on to brows and
08:09 in the past I was a Mac Espresso girl, I just used that and an angled brush but
08:14 now I have found this, I think I must have found this kind of towards the
08:18 beginning of the year, I've used it every day, I went out and purchased a second
08:23 one and that's always a sign that I really really love something when I use
08:26 it up, I think even before I'd used it up I'd gone and repurchased it again
08:30 because it's just that good, I couldn't be without it and it's the Hourglass
08:33 Brow Sculpting Pencil in Soft Brunette. Then for lips, my favourite lip balm by
08:39 Terry, Vonder Rose again, I think I bought another one this year, just
08:44 absolutely love this stuff whenever my lips are kind of having an SOS moment
08:48 this is the only thing that sorts them out and then for lip gloss I've got a
08:52 feeling this is the same as last year, the Clarins Instant Light Natural Lip
08:57 Perfectors, I think I may have said 02 was my favourite last year which is like a
09:03 light milky kind of peachy nude but I think 05 is the one that I picked up the
09:07 most this year and it's actually quite bright but I put it on as a bright pink
09:11 and then I just kind of blend it in with my fingers and it's perfect, it's got
09:15 quite a balmy texture to it, it's not sticky at all, nourishes your lips and
09:19 gives like a slight wash of colour and I love that. And then for lipstick it's
09:24 what I've got on my lips today and what I've actually got in most of my videos
09:27 whenever I go to film a video this is just the one that I tend to put on
09:31 because it's like a nude but without looking too porn-so nude if you get what
09:36 I'm saying, it's Mac Patisserie and it's the perfect mix of peach, pink, brown, nude,
09:42 beige, the whole shebang in one lipstick. It does have a slight shimmer to it,
09:46 don't let that put you off because you can't really see it when it's on your
09:51 lips and I think for me this is just my perfect nude shade. Moving on to tools
09:55 and I think you've probably been able to guess all three of these, my favourite
09:59 tweezer, the Tweezerman, these are travel tweezers, I think they are amazing, I've
10:03 converted every single person including my dad onto these in my family, they're
10:08 very sharp and they just get the job done, I love those. My favourite eyelash
10:13 curler, Shu Uemura, the standard ones, I know they've recently bought out the S
10:17 ones but these are still kind of the ultimate eyelash curlers for me, I have
10:22 very straight elephant like eyelashes that point downwards, a few kind of pumps
10:28 of these and all of a sudden I have a flutter which no other eyelash curler
10:32 really manages to do. For brushes it would be a bit of a mammoth video if I
10:35 rolled off every single brush that I love so I thought I would just say a
10:39 brand that in general I love every single brush they do, real techniques,
10:43 they are awesome, they are affordable, they wash well, they apply makeup so
10:49 beautifully and my favourites would have to be the buffing brush which is from
10:52 their cool collection which I think is worth picking up alone just for that
10:57 brush and then the multitask brush which is part I think of their travel kit and
11:02 I use this for bronzer and powder and blush as well, it's actually really
11:07 really good for blush especially if you're not very good at applying blush,
11:10 raises hand. Then on to the final part of this video that concerns itself with all
11:15 things Hansey and my favourite nail colour of the year, Nails Inc, Portia's
11:21 to square of course and actually the gel effect version, I prefer this to the
11:25 normal version, it's that little bit shinier if you're not feeling in the
11:29 mood for a top coat and I actually prefer the brush on this, the brush on
11:33 the original one isn't too fabulous but the brush on this one is much easier to
11:37 use. My favourite nail effect of 2013 would have to be red carpet manicure
11:43 which is basically like a at-home LED polish which I just think is incredible
11:49 and since I've got one I think it was in the summer I've had it on my toes ever
11:53 since, obviously not the same shade I've mixed it up a bit but I just think it's
11:58 incredible if you want long-lasting nail colour and you kind of haven't got enough
12:02 time to sit and do your nails every few days. I have done it on my fingernails
12:07 and I find on my fingernails it lasts about a week but on my toes it lasts a
12:11 good month which is incredible because I hate painting my toenails. I've actually
12:15 got it on today and I've got on this shade I Own The Runway which is very
12:19 much like Chanel Rouge Noir nail polish which I also adore. My favourite base coat of
12:24 2013 is this one and it's from Butter London and it's their Horsepower nail
12:29 fertilizer and I promise I don't love it just because of the name but this kind
12:34 of just gets stuff done it makes your nail colour last a little bit longer and
12:38 my nails have never been stained when I'm using this so that is good. And then
12:43 top coat, this is more of a recent find but I just had to put this in because
12:47 came to the end of seche V again it got really gloopy I couldn't get the brush
12:51 to the bottom of the pot which is just always the most annoying thing that
12:55 always happens with it and I discovered this and I just think this is a great
12:58 little combination the Mavala Marva dry top coat with the Marva dry spray over
13:05 the top. I was in a rush the other day I had no nail polish on and I managed to
13:10 do a whole manicure in like five minutes I just put on one coat I think it was
13:14 Essie's aperitif which is like a one coat red, stuck that on, put on that,
13:18 sprayed this, done, out the door and no smudging it's just really incredible
13:23 stuff. Then the best cuticle product has been this and it's the Sally Hansen
13:27 instant cuticle remover and I think that was the same one from last year and then
13:31 my favorite nail nourishers they're kind of like cuticle oil something I just
13:35 stick on my nails when they're feeling like a bit dry and gross has been this
13:39 and it's from Butter London again and it's their handbag holiday cuticle oil
13:43 which smells of pina colada, it's great. And then my favorite hand cream is this
13:48 and it's from Sarah Chapman and it's the overnight hand and nail treatment and
13:52 this is less of a cream and more of an oil and it's just really good stuff it's
13:57 kind of up to the ante in my hand care routine I just pop this on before I go
14:02 to bed it's a tiny bit oily in the morning your mitts are seriously silky
14:06 smooth. So those were my 2013 favorites part one I'd be very interested to know
14:11 how many you guys guessed correctly I'm guessing it was quite a lot but stay
14:16 tuned for part two which like I said earlier is body care hair care and skin
14:21 care and that will be up on this channel on Sunday but thank you so much for
14:24 watching and I'll see you guys soon bye
14:28 I've used it every day I went out and purchased a second one and that's always
14:42 a sign that I really really love something when I use it up I think even
14:45 before I'd used it up I'd gone and repurchased it again because it's just
14:49 that good I couldn't be without it and it's the hourglass brow sculpting pencil
14:53 in soft brunette. Then for lips my favorite lip balm by Terry
14:58 Vonder Rose again I think I bought another one this year just absolutely
15:03 love this stuff whenever my lips are kind of having an SOS moment this is the
15:07 only thing that sorts them out and then for lip gloss I've got a feeling this is
15:12 the same as last year the Clarins instant light natural lip perfectors I
15:16 think I may have said oh - was my favorite last year which is like a
15:21 light milky kind of peachy nude but I think oh five is the one that I picked
15:25 up the most this year and it's actually quite bright but I put it on it's like a
15:29 bright pink and then I just kind of blend it in with my fingers and it's
15:32 perfect it's got quite a balmy texture to it it's not sticky at all nourishes
15:36 your lips and gives like a slight wash of color and I love that and then for
15:41 lipstick it's what I've got on my lips today and what I've actually got in most
15:45 of my videos whenever I go to film a video this is just the one that I tend
15:49 to put on because it's like a nude but without looking too porn sorry nude if
15:53 you get what I'm saying it's matte patisserie and it's the perfect mix of
15:57 peach pink brown nude beige the whole shebang in one lipstick it does have a
16:03 slight shimmer to it don't let that put you off because you can't really see it
16:08 when it's on your lips I think for me this is just my perfect nude shade
16:12 moving on to tools and I think you probably be able to guess all three of
16:16 these my favorite tweezer the tweezer men these are travel tweezers I think
16:21 they are amazing I've converted every single person including my dad onto
16:25 these in my family they're very sharp and they just get the job done I love
16:30 those my favorite eyelash curler shimera the standard ones I know they've
16:34 recently bought out the s ones but these are still kind of the ultimate
16:39 eyelash curlers for me I have very into contouring before this year I'd heard
16:43 about it always look really difficult and horrible to do but then I found this
16:46 product everything slots into place and I'll contour all the darn time and it's
16:51 because of this product and it's the Kevin Aucoin sculpting powder in medium
16:55 it is just amazing it basically carves out cheekbones even on someone who
17:01 really doesn't have cheekbones that's me I'm not a huge blusher girl but it kind
17:06 of came down to two fighting out to be my favorite of the year and it was
17:09 between this the winner and also the max factor I think it's called creamy touch
17:15 in soft pink you know the really tiny cream blusher from max factor that's a
17:19 gorgeous pinky shade I love that one but this kind of puts it to the post and it's
17:23 the tar I'm zoning in clay long wear blush in tipsy I just think this is my
17:29 all-time favorite favorite blush shade I can see as being favorites for years to
17:33 come it is so in your face you need such a tiny tiny amount of it looks like I
17:39 barely even touched it because it is so pigmented but whenever I wear this I
17:43 always get people saying oh you look really good today you look really
17:46 healthy and glowy so I always go for this above any of it and pop this on and
17:51 just instantly feel like more woken up amazing so I love that one then moving
17:56 on to eye things and my favorite eye primer oh my word previous years it
18:01 would have always been the Urban Decay primer potion then I found this it's
18:06 miles miles miles better I always found that the Urban Decay primer potion was a
18:11 little bit too thick and kind of just difficult to blend in a bit smeary this
18:17 incredible it's the NARS pro prime smudge proof eyeshadow base I originally had a
18:22 tiny little sample that came along with a palette hats by the full size of this
18:26 it's amazing I have really oily eyelids but this just keeps anything that I pop
18:31 onto my eyelids in place and it's very transparent and thin and easy to blend
18:36 it's like you blend it in and it's not even there incredible stuff with eyes
18:40 shadow it's always a bit of a tradition that it goes to Mac all the glitters
18:43 which is this one here but actually for once it's not all the glitters I still
18:49 love that shade you can see it's easily the most used out of the palette but I
18:52 really love sober which is this one here which is kind of a more it's like less
18:57 shimmery more golden very natural very subtle I've got it on my eyes today with
19:03 another color in the crease and it's just my go-to for when I need to put
19:07 something on my eyes but I can't really be bothered to put anything in the
19:10 crease or blend it out or fanny around with it too much I can literally just
19:13 sweep this on with a fluffy brush put on some mascara and be done and I love that
19:17 my favorite eye pencils of 2013 or that is an easy one it has to be these these
19:23 are from Rimmel and then scandalize waterproof I cold kajal I think that's
19:29 how you say and I love the shade taupe which is just a natural kind of no
19:33 shimmery metallic gray it's a very natural matte gray bronze which does
19:38 what it says on the tin and then nude I've got this on my waterline today and
19:43 it's amazing it just nuding out kind of any redness that you've got these are
19:47 incredible they're really pigmented really long-lasting and very creamy and
19:51 easy to use and very cheap too now unfortunately 2013 was the year that
19:56 L'Oreal telescopic waterproof mascara was discontinued sheds tear and I still
20:02 to this day haven't found anything that is as awesome as that one I've actually
20:06 still got L'Oreal telescopic waterproof on today because I love it I have like
20:10 three hanging around my drawers I just think it is the best mascara but this
20:15 one came close and I guess because this one you can actually get your hands on I
20:18 would say this is my favorite wasn't L'Oreal telescopic waterproof mascara
20:23 is this and it's the max factor full slash effect waterproof one really big
20:28 fat fat brush nothing like the L'Oreal at all but it just builds up your lashes
20:33 holds a curl that's very important and kind of stays put pretty well so that
20:38 gets the thumbs up from me moving on to brows and in the past I was a Mac
20:42 espresso girl I just used that and an angled brush but now I have found this
20:46 I think I must have found this kind of towards the beginning of the year
20:50 really really love these two the concealer at the beginning of the year I
20:54 was all about the Bobbi Brown creamy concealer and I think that has actually
20:57 been my favorite concealer for the past three years I could be wrong but I think
21:01 that was definitely a constant in my last year's video and one before that
21:05 and one before that I found this in the summer and I kind of haven't looked back
21:08 since and it's the NARS radiant creamy concealer I have the shade vanilla in
21:12 this and this is just amazing it's so blendable it's got amazing coverage I
21:17 use it on blemishes and on my baggy eyes and it kind of works really really well
21:22 for both and I just love it it's so creamy and so natural looking on the
21:26 skin the bronzer there has been no change it is still NARS Laguna bronzer I
21:31 just love this stuff I have to say I haven't been wearing bronzer as much as
21:36 I used to but back in the summer I was still piling it on this has been my
21:40 favorite for the last like four years now ever since I first purchased it and
21:43 nothing to me comes close it's basically sun-kissed skin in a compact now I'm not
21:49 traditionally a powder girl back in the day I was a big fan of the MAC
21:53 mineralized skin finish but this year I found a powder-ish kind of thing that
21:58 made me change my mind and I actually think it's great it really helps at
22:02 giving the skin a bit of glow but setting things and like keeping my
22:05 makeup really adhere to my skin and it's this and it's from hourglass and it's
22:09 their ambient lighting powder in diffused light this is great because
22:12 it's got a yellowish hue to it and as you can see I'm naturally a bit ruddy
22:16 in my complexion so this kind of helps to tone that down a bit my favorite
22:21 highlight of the year has to be this one from RMS and it's their living
22:24 luminizer and not only is this stuff packed with skincare goodness coconut
22:29 oil and all that shebang but it just leaves a really nice sheen on the cheeks
22:34 or on the inner corners cupid's bow wherever you want to pop it and there's
22:38 not any like glitter or shimmer really in sight it's more of just like a sheen
22:43 I'm naturally very glowy now big news because this year I've had to add a
22:47 category this category has never existed in my yearly favorites before and it is
22:52 best contour of the year and I was never really... Hi everyone so I hope you all had a
22:58 really lovely festive season and new year and I thought to get things started
23:02 with 2014 here on Vivienne Does Makeup I will look back at my favorites of 2013
23:07 so it's kind of like 12 months of monthly favorites all in one video and
23:12 the picks are probably going to be a bit obvious as I go through if there's more
23:16 in-depth reviews on anything that I mentioned I will link them below but it
23:20 is a bit of a tradition for me I think this is my fourth year of doing it and I
23:24 actually like to go back and watch my old ones to kind of see what I was
23:28 loving back in the day and it's kind of like a bit of a makeup diary for me and
23:32 there's actually gonna be two parts to this otherwise it was gonna be way too
23:35 long so there's one video today and then the next video will be up on Sunday and
23:39 the one today is focusing on makeup, tools and nails and then Sunday's video
23:44 is going to be body care, skincare and hair care. So I'm going to kick things
23:47 off with my favorite primer of the year and it's definitely got to be the
23:50 Hourglass Mineral Veil Primer I love this stuff and it's one of the only
23:54 primers that I've ever used that actually helps foundation stick to my
23:58 face that little bit longer it leaves my skin feeling very satiny, makeup goes on
24:03 so beautifully over the top and it doesn't leave things looking too dry
24:07 which I find a lot of primers can make things look too matte. Now if you're a
24:10 regular watcher of these videos my favorite foundation of the year will
24:14 come as no surprise to you Giorgio Armani Luminous Silk Foundation of
24:18 course I use the shade four in the winter and six in the summer and it's
24:22 basically flawless skin in a bottle and I've gone on about this so much so I
24:26 will leave that one there. The best tinted moisturizer category was a bit of
24:30 a toughie but these two came on top and yes there's two because I kind of
24:34 couldn't pick between them but the Jouer Matte Moisture Tint and I have the shade
24:38 linen in that and then the Luminizing Moisture Tint and I have the shade pearl
24:42 in this and actually together they just make the perfect tinted moisturizer
24:47 it's got just the right amount of coverage it's not too matte it's not too
24:50 dewy because you've obviously mixed them both but if I'm having more of a greasy
24:54 day then I'll go for the matte one if I'm having more of a dry day or just
24:58 need a bit more glow I'll go for the luminizing one but I really do like the
