00:00 [Crowd boos]
00:02 Okay, fellas, we've opened all the rules.
00:03 I want to see a good, clean fight.
00:04 I say break, you break clean.
00:06 Protect yourselves at all times.
00:07 Touch gloves.
00:08 Well, even when you see the two of them there,
00:13 it is scarcely believable that the two are in the same weight division.
00:16 Shaqan Pitts, I thought it was because he had his trainers on at the head-to-head yesterday, but...
00:21 I'd like to get the measuring tape out once more, because 6'6", from down here,
00:25 he looks like David versus Goliath.
00:28 Perhaps it is that sort of fight for Joel McIntyre in the navy blue and gold trim.
00:33 Shaqan Pitts is in the white, black and luminous trim.
00:38 Yeah, he's so tall, Shaqan.
00:40 He's got a box lung and use those physical advantages.
00:45 Use that jab, keep him on the end of the jab.
00:47 Try and line him up for the right hand.
00:49 Chop the right hand over or walk him onto the uppercuts.
00:52 Joel McIntyre, a quality operator in his own right.
00:57 Former English champion, two-time English champion, I should say.
01:01 He's never been afraid of going in deep and certainly in his opponent's hometown.
01:07 And it is just worth noting that ever since doors opened here tonight in the Resorts World Arena,
01:14 plenty of fans staying around for the undercard contest.
01:19 It's creating a good atmosphere here and Shaqan Pitts would want to be part of that movement.
01:25 Yeah, there's a lot of Birmingham and Midlands-based fighters
01:27 that will be desperate to bring big-time boxing back here.
01:30 Yeah, without a doubt.
01:31 You look at Ben Whittaker and Fraser Clark.
01:35 They're only probably half an hour from here, both guys.
01:37 This could be a home venue for them.
01:40 Yeah, Casey Benjamin, Tyler Denny, Karris Artingstall as well probably.
01:44 And Shaqan Pitts, who probably had his ego hurting a little bit
01:48 that he's not on the live card as a former British champion.
01:51 But that is probably a mark of how strong the bill is at the moment.
01:55 Yeah, how strong the bill is.
01:56 And, you know, he'll do no harm.
01:57 It might sort of, you know, re-motivate him.
02:00 Because, you know, he'll hurt his pride a little bit that he's not on the main card.
02:04 And it'll make him more hungry to get back up there.
02:07 That right hand was a real sort of howitzer.
02:10 He had it cocked and ready.
02:12 He just threw it and he's got long arms.
02:13 But that was a short right hand that just missed the target.
02:16 And McIntyre's got to be careful of that shot.
02:20 I think he's doing the right thing here, Shaqan.
02:22 He's jabbing the body.
02:23 He's not getting predictable with that lead left hand.
02:26 He wants to vary it up.
02:27 He doesn't want to... He wants to disguise the right hand.
02:30 He's got to keep McIntyre busy with that jab.
02:33 Lots of feints as well.
02:35 Double the jab, single jab.
02:37 You know, vary the speed.
02:39 Vary the power of it.
02:40 Don't become predictable.
02:42 And obviously then, you know, maybe turn the jab into a left hook
02:45 and chop the right hand over.
02:47 McIntyre did find a home for the jab.
02:50 And that's no easy feat because he...
02:52 is surely in the reach deficit of Shaqan Pitta's.
02:58 He's going to have to get inside those long levers.
03:00 And even then, Matt, when he flicks out that jab,
03:04 you get the impression he can almost stand in the neutral corner
03:07 and just tap you on the top of the head from centre ring.
03:10 He really has got a long reach.
03:14 You know, just thinking about that video game Street Fighter 2,
03:17 Dalcey, he used to have these extended arms, didn't he?
03:19 When he used to let them out.
03:21 He's like that, he can literally hit you.
03:23 You look way out of distance and then he hits you with it.
03:26 With history in the making tonight,
03:29 for the first time ever,
03:31 Alonso Del Fil
03:33 to be contested in British women's boxing.
03:36 And there he is, Kirsty Bavington,
03:38 former European champion.
03:43 She's taking on Lauren Price and...
03:45 what a statement.
03:47 What a moment in time
03:49 for everybody involved, I think it's fair to say.
03:52 The board of control, the sport as a whole,
03:54 all of the women that went before Lauren and Kirsty
03:58 that didn't get the chance.
03:59 Well, I don't think there'll be too much envy.
04:01 It's a brilliant fight
04:03 and fitting of the first ever
04:05 British women's title here in Birmingham tonight.
04:09 You hear me?
04:10 Yeah.
04:11 Ok, one...
04:12 Four, three, two, one.
04:16 Second round, round three.
04:22 [BELL RINGS]
04:24 Second of eight.
04:30 Shakan Pitters, former British champion
04:34 against Joel McIntyre,
04:36 former two-time English champion.
04:38 This is a good mix of styles.
04:40 Shakan Pitters just has Joel McIntyre
04:47 backed up to the ropes here
04:49 and he doesn't want to stay there too long.
04:51 Good check hook there from McIntyre.
04:54 [INAUDIBLE]
04:56 Left hand tighter, Joel.
05:00 [INAUDIBLE]
05:07 Let's break that distance.
05:09 You can just hear Barry Smith
05:12 from the McIntyre corner just saying
05:14 "Let's break that distance"
05:15 and you do get the impression, Matt,
05:16 that is probably the route that he's going to have to go
05:19 to get inside those long arms of Pitters
05:21 who, behind the jab and behind a long right hand,
05:24 is a difficult man to hit clean.
05:26 Yeah, he wants to break the distance
05:27 but he doesn't want to be too reckless
05:29 and get caught on the way in.
05:30 So maybe he's got to use his feints himself,
05:33 maybe try and draw the lead from Shakan
05:36 and then come inside the jab
05:37 and then close the distance,
05:38 cover the distance with his feet and get in.
05:41 Because, you know, once you've evaded the first punch,
05:43 you know, you're in on top of him,
05:44 you're safe then.
05:46 But when you're on the outside,
05:48 that's where he could be a bit of a sitting duck.
05:50 So yeah, he does want to get in on the inside.
05:53 But he has to be...
05:55 He's got to pick his moments
05:56 and when he does come into it,
05:57 really come into it and cover the distance.
06:00 And on the flip side of that,
06:01 if you're Shakan Pitters,
06:02 it's just a case of gauging the distance
06:05 and presumably boxing on the counter
06:09 as McIntyre makes his way in.
06:10 I don't know, you tell me.
06:11 Well, just keeping him long,
06:12 keeping him guessing with the jab.
06:14 Vary the jab, don't become predictable.
06:17 Because if he's trying to work up your jab,
06:19 he's trying to time the jab.
06:20 You want to keep mixing it up.
06:22 Double jab, single jab.
06:24 Maybe just leave it out there.
06:26 Faints, jab the body, jab the head.
06:28 You know, constantly mixing it up
06:30 so you don't become predictable.
06:32 It's been a patient approach so far from McIntyre
06:34 who just eats a right hand from Pitters.
06:36 That was a good shot.
06:37 Even there, stiff arm it, leave him out,
06:41 measure him, don't let him come in on.
06:43 Don't let him break that distance.
06:46 That's it.
06:47 That's it.
06:49 You know, and McIntyre will be trying to time that jab.
06:51 He will be trying to read it.
06:53 And that's why, when we keep saying,
06:55 don't become predictable with it.
06:56 Mix the jab up, vary the speed,
06:58 vary the power, vary the angle.
07:00 Maybe shoot it up from the hip sometimes.
07:02 Maybe feint the jab, throw a long lead left hook.
07:04 Never become readable.
07:06 Yeah, McIntyre just getting caught at mid-range distance here.
07:10 He's neither here nor there.
07:12 And Pitters is just measuring him behind the jab,
07:14 but popping the right hand out at the end of it as well.
07:17 That's it.
07:18 Good round for Pitters, you sense.
07:20 Yeah, and this is going to be frustrating for McIntyre as well.
07:27 And this is the other half of that British title fight.
07:36 Lauren Price, Olympic gold medalist,
07:40 alongside her partner and fellow pro, Carys Artingstall.
07:44 Lauren, wishing to get the chance to become the first ever
07:48 British world to weight champion,
07:50 the first ever female to lift the Lord's long style belt.
07:53 It's the same belt, the same design,
07:57 all individually handcrafted,
07:59 but it does have a few subtle variations.
08:02 The ribbon behind is a different colour.
08:05 Can you hear me? Yeah? Good.
08:12 Can you say that around the ring?
08:14 Right, just go and get your back here.
08:16 Second round, round three.
08:22 This one homing up nicely.
08:27 Round three in this one, Shaqan Pitters
08:30 from Birmingham, boxing in his hometown,
08:33 against Joel McIntyre from Portsmouth.
08:35 Say they get the airs free.
08:37 Say they get the airs free, Joel.
08:39 The f***ing...
08:41 Referee Christopher Dean just breaking the two,
08:44 but McIntyre had Pitters on the ropes there
08:47 and was looking to work away.
08:49 Pitters looks for a long left hook,
08:54 doesn't quite land it.
08:56 And then the right uppercut to follow,
08:58 and this one just sparks into life, Matt.
09:00 Yeah, the only thing that lacks a daze of cool,
09:04 defensively, Shaqan Pitters needs to stay switched on,
09:07 carry that left hand a little bit low at times.
09:09 And that's okay, as long as you're mindful
09:11 that you're a little bit open down that left side.
09:13 Some people like to carry the left hand low,
09:15 and they're a bit looser with it, they can shoot it up,
09:18 and they're here if they can feint
09:19 and maybe turn it into a long left hook.
09:21 But you do need to be mindful
09:23 that you're potentially open down that left side.
09:26 And Paul "Soggy" Cunahan in the red corner,
09:29 the trainer of Shaqan Pitters,
09:31 works closely with Ricky Summers,
09:33 who beat Joel McIntyre for his English title.
09:36 Ricky Summers said that is amongst the hardest
09:40 he's ever been hit in a ring.
09:42 Joel McIntyre, he has only five stoppages in his 20,
09:45 I say only, but I think the record is slightly misleading.
09:49 He does hit hard.
09:50 Yeah, I think feints are really important here for McIntyre,
10:02 because obviously he needs to close the distance,
10:04 and he really ideally wants Shaqan Pitters to lead up first,
10:09 and then come inside the jab, close the distance.
10:12 So he's got to try and use the feints,
10:14 try to get, trigger Shaqan into leading off.
10:17 There's a good double attack there from Shaqan Pitters as well.
10:21 And it's a dangerous shot, the right uppercut.
10:24 Joel McIntyre's had some warning signs now.
10:27 Pitters has looked to almost loop that long uppercut
10:31 up through the middle.
10:32 Didn't land it on that occasion, and the reason I say it's dangerous
10:35 is because if he lands it, it could be a home run,
10:38 and if he misses it, well, he'd lose himself open
10:41 for a big counter from McIntyre.
10:43 You know, jabs to the body are good shots here for Shaqan Pitters
10:50 for a tall, long-ranging fighter,
10:52 because it's very difficult to break the distance with that.
10:55 You know, if someone jabs to the head, you can slip it side,
10:57 and then you cover the distance, you cover the canvas
10:59 with your feet quickly.
11:00 But, you know, the jab to the body,
11:02 yeah, you can stand back and parry, but it's a harder shot to block.
11:05 And is the jabs to the body or the attacks to the body
11:08 a good plan for McIntyre?
11:10 You look at someone like Pitters, you know,
11:12 no suggestion at all that he struggles to make this weight,
11:15 but I fail to believe that it's easy to attack from McIntyre.
11:18 Again, it was the missed right hand from Pitters
11:20 that presented the opportunity.
11:21 Yeah, again, McIntyre should just land up,
11:23 should probably have a double jab right hand to the chest of Pitters.
11:28 He's so long-bodied, though, isn't he, Shaqam Pitters?
11:30 You can't get away from the fact that it is a large target.
11:33 Yeah, don't reach for the chin, because you'll reach,
11:35 you could get countered by just going,
11:37 stay at your own height, just aim at his chest.
11:39 That was a nice left hook.
11:47 You know, it's nice and loose there with the left hand,
11:51 we say sometimes the left hand's carrying it a little bit low,
11:55 but that's okay sometimes because it's a bit looser,
11:58 you can turn into a hook a bit more easily.
12:01 And forgive me, that right uppercut did just land.
12:05 Pitman with four claws,
12:08 he's just catched the forehead of McIntyre.
12:10 And on that replay there, I saw Dan Aziz at ringside.
12:13 It'll be an interesting spectator,
12:15 and he'll be part of our Funded Tree team later on.
12:17 The European champion at this weight now.
12:21 Of course, going over to Parrish to win the title,
12:24 and holder of the British title as well.
12:27 This has been fairly even so far, Matt,
12:40 but who would you have nudging in front?
12:42 I think Pitters, I think he's right up ahead.
12:46 But the close rounds, the competitive...
12:53 Good work, good work there from McIntyre.
12:56 Backing Pitters up to the ropes,
12:58 putting combinations together,
12:59 that's where he wants to be.
13:01 Yeah, it was a good-looking combination,
13:03 he punched with real authority there,
13:05 and he really did make a thwack as they landed.
13:09 But that's a good right hand from Pitters,
13:11 he buys it up, nudging it really well.
13:13 And McIntyre just locked into his back foot,
13:16 sliding through the guard, the guard is high.
13:18 Oh!
13:20 And that's the danger, McIntyre,
13:22 looking for a huge service over the net,
13:24 and he sparks it to the left, both men going for it.
13:27 Is McIntyre partially hurt here, Matt?
13:32 I think he was momentarily,
13:34 but possibly not as hurt as what Shaq,
13:36 I believe he was, unloading the two hands,
13:39 and got a little bit close there,
13:41 and got caught with a shot himself.
13:43 So, yeah, if he has sensed that he's hurt,
13:46 McIntyre, he's got to be a bit more careful.
13:48 So, if he has sensed that he's hurt McIntyre,
13:50 he should put his foot on the gas,
13:53 and put it on him a bit,
13:55 but he doesn't want to get too gung-ho,
13:57 and leave himself open for counters.
14:00 And McIntyre, he's looking for that counter.
14:05 If he was buzzed, or he was hurt,
14:07 or he had his senses around him,
14:09 he had the gloves up high,
14:10 and he was looking to counter punches.
14:12 Pitters was letting his own work go.
14:16 Great action in the fourth round.
14:18 The crowd really into this one as well.
14:21 Sparked everybody into life.
14:23 Blood to the nose of McIntyre,
14:33 so one of those right hands at least got through.
14:36 McIntyre springs into action with a right
14:40 to the mid-section of Pitters.
14:43 [Crowd noise]
14:45 They're talking to each other in there, Matt.
14:56 This is good though from Pitters,
14:58 you know, he's just kind of back on the jab now.
15:00 Looking for the single shots.
15:02 Yeah, McIntyre's just edging forward,
15:05 just creeping forward,
15:07 into range, and you sense that both men
15:10 have got their fingers on the trigger here.
15:12 Yeah, I've been caught fire a little bit
15:13 in this round, so the fact that it's just
15:15 easy enough now here again,
15:16 Pitters back on the jab, sensible.
15:18 [Bell rings]
15:24 Good round.
15:26 Look at Joel McIntyre there,
15:31 just glaring across the ring
15:33 with a big smile on his face.
15:35 Half a round off, that's all.
15:37 That's half a round off.
15:40 There he is, the champ, down at ease.
15:43 One of the real success stories,
15:46 European light heavyweight champion,
15:48 going over to Paris,
15:50 winning the title, winning his opponent's home country,
15:53 you can't ask for more than that.
15:55 And genuinely one of the nicest fighters on the circuit.
15:59 This is where it got fire, Matt.
16:02 Yeah, good shot, right hand.
16:04 Rocked him momentarily there,
16:06 and he jumped on him.
16:08 This is where I think he's got to be careful not to get,
16:10 you know, he did get caught there,
16:12 but he has to be careful when he's going in.
16:15 Jack on there, he doesn't lead himself
16:16 wide open for the counter.
16:18 [Bell rings]
16:23 Second half of this one,
16:30 the light heavyweight.
16:33 [Fighting]
16:35 That was perhaps the most exciting round so far.
16:40 It was some real success for Pitters,
16:44 and just in the inter-round,
16:45 John McIntyre just had half a round off, that's all.
16:48 But Pitters will be encouraged,
16:52 and he started well that jab,
16:54 finding a home,
16:55 but here comes McIntyre backing Pitters into
16:57 the blue corner, and he'll want to work.
16:59 Start from there, Joe, start from there.
17:00 Start from there, start from there.
17:02 Start from where you are, let's go.
17:04 That's where we...
17:06 That's it.
17:07 Shot.
17:08 That's nice work for Pitters,
17:13 jab, hook, then back on the jab.
17:15 You know, good left hand work.
17:16 He wants to keep McIntyre at bay
17:20 with that left hand, mixing it up,
17:22 and then look to chuck the right hand in.
17:24 Come on, Joe, keep going.
17:25 Keep it in, keep it in, Joe.
17:29 That was a good short right hand on the inside,
17:34 on the fly side of the referee to the pit,
17:36 the stomach of the Pitters,
17:37 good work on the inside.
17:38 That's it, jab, shot.
17:42 Shot.
17:44 Jab, hook.
17:47 He can't get discouraged here, John McIntyre,
17:51 because, fair to say,
17:53 that was Pitters' best round,
17:55 the biggest round,
17:56 and McIntyre hasn't really been able
17:59 to have a sustained period of success.
18:01 He can't afford to get too down in the dumps,
18:04 so he has to keep to his game plan,
18:07 has to keep to his tactics,
18:08 but it's easier said than done
18:10 against someone like Shachan Pitters,
18:11 who's been to British level,
18:13 he knows what he's doing,
18:14 he's a very, very high-skilled operator himself.
18:17 I think he's got to use a few more feints here as well,
18:21 and, well, McIntyre, he's got to try and
18:24 slip on the inside of the jab
18:27 and then cover the distance again on top of Pitters,
18:30 maybe back him up to the ropes,
18:31 work some body shots.
18:32 Lovely jab to the head and right hand to the body from Pitters.
18:35 You sense that confidence is flowing
18:40 from the local man.
18:50 Oh, good counter right hand, just pull counter.
18:53 Crisp right hand finds the target from Pitters.
18:57 Blood again starts to flow from the nose of McIntyre,
19:13 a testament to the accuracy of Pitters.
19:16 He's having another good three minutes here.
19:19 [Bell ringing]
19:22 - How do you feel, alright?
19:34 - Yeah, I'm good, man.
19:35 - Alright.
19:36 - 80 is what it is.
19:37 We can do this, yeah?
19:39 Listen to me.
19:40 Go.
19:41 You've got to look up, tight,
19:44 and what you're doing, you're jumping in,
19:46 and when you're jumping in, he's smothering you.
19:48 Jump, just jump, small steps in the way,
19:51 he's got the drill, bam, bam, bam, bam.
19:53 But what's happening, you've got to maintain it, Joe, yeah?
19:56 Stay free.
19:57 You've got to maintain it, yeah?
19:58 - Great bit of corner sound there, Matt.
20:00 - That's necessary.
20:02 - How you feeling?
20:03 He says, "Yeah, it is what it is, isn't it?"
20:05 No, it isn't is what it is.
20:07 You've got to get back to your game plan.
20:09 - He slipped inside the jab there in that replay,
20:12 and he tried to come to the jab.
20:13 So the right idea, he's got to move his feet quicker.
20:16 He's a little bit, you know, he slipped in the jab,
20:18 he's got to move the feet quick to cover the distance.
20:21 Especially if you're about to stay so long and so tall.
20:24 - Gumshield just a little bit late going in there
20:27 with McIntyre, but I just get the sense,
20:29 and I felt it maybe just in that last round,
20:32 that he's just starting to lose a little bit of hope, McIntyre.
20:35 It was just starting to get away from him a little bit,
20:38 and I just wonder if that corner sound just echoed that.
20:42 Just needs a little bit of success here, McIntyre,
20:44 because he's in the fight, but Shaqan Pitta's boxing
20:47 really well, really well.
20:49 - Yeah, and likewise, if Pitta's going to have a big round here
20:52 and maybe turn the screw a little bit,
20:54 might just knock that last bit of sort of motivation
20:58 or belief that McIntyre has in that he can win this fight.
21:01 - Good right hand under the armpit from Shaqan Pitta
21:04 has done it into the midsection of McIntyre.
21:07 - Watch out, James. Ready, ready to your right, yo.
21:10 Ready, hold him up to the ranks, yo.
21:12 - Let's go.
21:14 - Come on, let's go.
21:16 - Don't get backed up.
21:19 - Come on.
21:21 - Controlled the distance really well, hasn't he, Pitta's?
21:24 - Yeah, keeping him on the jab.
21:26 - Oh, good shot.
21:28 - I thought Pitta's landed a nice right hand there,
21:30 but I think maybe possibly McIntyre landed one as well.
21:33 - They were both throwing and both in danger of landing
21:36 at simultaneous impacts there,
21:40 brought everybody to their feet, both took it well,
21:43 sent a huge amount of spray up into the lights.
21:47 Good work from McIntyre.
21:51 Looking to get some of the left hand work of his own off.
21:56 But Pitta's back on that jab, which has been a real weapon
22:03 for him through six rounds.
22:05 - He's got his head movement, yo.
22:07 - He's got to get away, yo.
22:10 - This is better for McIntyre, he's putting the ring on.
22:14 He's pushing him back on the jab, trying to get a bit of room
22:17 on the inside to work the double left foot body and head.
22:35 - Good right hand from Pitta's, he was measuring for that shot.
22:38 Landed it perfectly, sorry, Matt.
22:40 - No, I was going to say, good shot, and a nice uppercut left hook there as well.
22:43 I think McIntyre's probably staying on the outside a little bit too long,
22:47 giving Shaka Pitta's time and room to set him up with the jab.
22:51 And that was a good right hand he brought in as well.
22:54 - It must be a frustration for McIntyre that when he lets his own hands go,
22:58 which is what he needs to do to win the fight,
23:00 it's just that he's copping one or two on the way in,
23:03 when he's caught at mid-range, he's catching a couple.
23:06 It's difficult for him, it's difficult.
23:08 He's going to have to walk through the fire to get there,
23:10 if he is going to get there, because Pitta's is controlling things at the moment.
23:14 - Yeah, I mean, he's giving away the height and reach,
23:17 and you can see there he's trying to lunge in with the left hook.
23:21 But unfortunately for him, Pitta's, you see that probably a mile away.
23:25 - Oi!
23:26 Oi, Shaq, oi!
23:33 - Yeah, that right hand was a good shot.
23:38 - Let's just have another look at that, because I think the McIntyre shot actually missed.
23:43 - It was a peach. It was a peach from Pitta's.
23:48 - I mean, he's controlling the distance, Shaq on his.
23:53 - Start turning it up on him, Shaq.
23:55 Start turning it up on him now, OK?
23:57 - I'm feeling the pace over there.
23:59 - Yeah, you're feeling the pace, you hear me?
24:01 - I want a piston, Shaq. Piston. You hear me?
24:04 - OK, and when you're backed up, walk him back.
24:07 - But I want a piston, piston, backhand, and then just faint, faint, faint.
24:11 - A little pop, pop, pop. OK? Squeeze and a touch. Squeeze and a touch.
24:14 - Pull the jets.
24:16 - Squeeze and a touch, Matt. Just bring that one down for me.
24:19 - Yeah, that's boxing jargon.
24:21 - I got the gist of it. The piston jab is what he's asking for,
24:24 and with levers like that, and he showed it in glimpses during this fight,
24:28 piston ramrod jab is what they're calling for from Shaq and Pitta's.
24:32 - I think they're a little bit frustrated. I think he's, look, he's winning the fight.
24:39 He's boxing well, but I think he could make it easier and more convincing
24:42 just by being a bit more active with the jab.
24:48 - When he throws it, it lands, it works well,
24:51 and it sets everything else up, it gives him the rhythm.
24:54 - There's nothing wrong with Joel McIntyre's chin either,
24:57 because you saw on that replay, it was an absolute peach of a right hand.
25:00 He took it really well.
25:02 But he won't want to take too many of them.
25:06 And somehow, the man from Portsmouth needs to make a dent in Shaq and Pitta's
25:12 if he's going to perhaps change our perceived flow of the fight here from ringside.
25:17 - Good jab.
25:19 - Good jab to the body from Pitta's.
25:29 - It must be difficult for McIntyre to know when the right hand's coming,
25:46 because he's feigning with his feet and flicking that jab out,
25:49 and it is a stiff jab, and then the right hand, just like that,
25:52 comes off the end of it, and McIntyre doesn't quite know if it's another jab coming
25:57 or if the right hand's coming off the end of it.
25:59 - Up. Up!
26:01 - Raise. Jab.
26:13 - Raise.
26:19 - Just let him jab!
26:23 - Up.
26:26 - Jab.
26:27 - Up.
26:40 - Discouraging really for McIntyre, because when he does manage to get close,
26:47 Pitta just ties him up and nullifies him from really getting anything up on the inside.
26:54 - Up.
26:55 - Right hand from Pitta's at the end of that exchange,
26:59 just as McIntyre was coming out of a clinch there.
27:02 And there's the right hand off the end of the long jab.
27:08 Good body shot from Pitta's, who's boxing well now,
27:12 and then the left hook switches up to the head.
27:15 Good finish to the round from the local man, Shaqan Pitta's.
27:21 - Up.
27:22 - Up.
27:24 - And the buzzer!
27:26 - Do not make a mistake, OK?
27:35 Oi, oi, he's doing for caution.
27:38 He's standing there doing nothing, OK?
27:40 Oi, pop the jab, pop that jab.
27:42 - Apologies for the language there, but you get the gist.
27:46 He's not doing much, they're saying.
27:48 And this is more evidence of that right hand, Matt.
27:50 - Yeah, just lay back, chucked it over the top.
27:53 Good jab first from McIntyre, but yeah, the right hand is a nice counter.
27:59 - And that perhaps has been the story of the fight.
28:01 Any time McIntyre has had a glimpse of success, Pitta's has perhaps had a slightly better answer.
28:06 - Yeah, and yeah, he just hasn't really been able to sustain anything as he is.
28:11 He's had big successes here and there with patches,
28:13 but overall Shaqan is outlandish.
28:18 - In the amount of punches and also the number of pats.
28:21 - And the message from the red corner, the Pitta's corner, was very, very clear.
28:25 Don't make a mistake.
28:27 And presumably the message in the blue corner, the McIntyre corner, is kitchen sink job now.
28:35 You've got to go for it.
28:36 - Yeah, go for broke here. Has to be willing to take a risk.
28:40 - Walk him back up to the rope, Joe. Walk him up to the rope.
28:45 - You can hear Barry Smith in the McIntyre corner urging his man,
28:48 "Back him up to the ropes."
28:49 But the physical strength of Pitta's, he looks wiry and long and lean,
28:55 but I think the physical strength also has been with the Birmingham man.
28:58 Good right hand from Pitta's, measured it well.
29:03 And he's been on it tonight, Shaqan Pitta's.
29:08 - Yeah, dominant display.
29:12 - I'd say the jab's been good. The counter right hand's been nice as well.
29:16 He's been mixing the jabs up, head and body.
29:19 - And some good work on the inside here from a tall man who perhaps wouldn't be noted for his inside work
29:25 because he never usually has to do it, but when they came together there, he was looking to work
29:30 and now he's perhaps just getting a little bit more exuberant.
29:33 Long right hand, cuffs around the gloves of Joel McIntyre.
29:41 McIntyre, the ball, El Toro.
29:43 Well, he's bulldozing forward at the moment, but without success, needs something.
29:48 Times, Eben away, 1.30 left in the eighth and final round.
29:51 Switches southpaw, eats a right hand from Pitta's.
29:56 - Eats another one.
29:57 - Oh, the body shot, Sigmar.
29:59 - I think he went southpaw there more of a case of running out of ideas a bit.
30:08 - Up!
30:09 - Good left hook, three punch combination from the Portsmouth man.
30:19 - Up, up, up!
30:21 - Hold it there!
30:28 - Hey!
30:31 - Step back.
30:34 - He's got it in now.
30:35 - Up!
30:40 - Up!
30:41 - Real solid jab from Shachan Pitta, snaps the head back of Joel McIntyre.
30:45 McIntyre, to his credit, is trying to work away on the inside.
30:54 Referee Dean just breaks them.
30:57 - Up, up!
31:02 - I think he's just happy to see the fight through now, McIntyre.
31:05 I think he knows that he's lost this fight.
31:07 - Last ten.
31:12 - Good right hand from Pitta's, just before the bell.
31:23 - And that's the end of that one.
31:31 - Show of respect between the pair there.
31:33 - Shachan Pitta's for you, Matt.
31:43 - Yeah, definitely. I thought he was a clear winner.
31:46 - Certainly McIntyre made it work at times and he tried his best, made it competitive.
31:53 But, uh, no, Shachan Pitta's the clear winner.
31:57 - He's got a chance.
31:58 - He's still a handful, Shachan Pitta's. Still the ambition is there.
32:06 Made no secret yesterday, he wants to get back in, avenge those losses.
32:09 To Dan Aziz, to Craig Richards.
32:13 Still, uh, still to be a big player domestically at 175.
32:17 [crowd chanting]
32:29 - Okay, well let's get over to Big Mo, who's ready.
32:33 Let's, uh, get our announcement of this result.
32:36 - Ladies and gentlemen, at the end of eight full rounds, we go to referee Christopher Dean for the official decision.
32:45 He sees the contest 80-72, declaring your victor, Shachan Pitta's!
32:53 - So Shachan Pitta's gets it 80-72 on the cards.
32:58 That is his daughter joining him in the ring.
33:01 She's been around all week, this is her first time at a fight, I believe.
33:05 a fight I believe.
