02:43Elyse, I know you've been an entrepreneur for 37 years now.
02:49You have a store here, Shock, Baby, Kids, Women's and of course, Shock Ice Cream.
02:57Speak to us.
02:58What inspires you and motivates you?
03:01I was pregnant and I had my cravings and they were ice cream.
03:04They were ices and one thing led to another and we opened an ice cream store.
03:09I opened the baby store and the ice cream store at the same time to satisfy my cravings
03:15and 22 years later, my son will be 22 in June and we're still here.
03:19That's great.
03:20That's really great.
03:21And the rest is history.
03:23We're making memories and kids are happy and it's just a great place.
03:28That's super.
03:29Elyse, you shared with me a story that was very touching about a gentleman that was sitting
03:35on a bench and he looked sad and you asked him over.
03:40What did you do?
03:41So I said, you know, he just seemed a little off that day, a friend of mine, and I said,
03:46you know, come, I'll make you, he said, you make malted.
03:49So I said, sure.
03:50So we walked down the alley, I made him a vanilla malted, I handed him the malted and
03:57he closed his eyes and he said to me, I'm a 13 year old boy in Brooklyn.
04:03That vanilla malted took him back 60, 70 years to his childhood memory of having vanilla
04:10malted in Brooklyn and it brought happiness to him and it was so touching and it was really
04:17special.
04:18That is, that is great.
04:19And I'm sure there are many stories like that.
04:21You have customers that you are the mainstay here in West Hampton Beach.
04:26Everyone knows Sean and everyone wants to come here.
04:30It's a place that, as you would say, is more than an ice cream sundae.
04:35It's more than an ice cream store and just to get here, the kids walk down the street,
04:40they run, they make that turn, they, it's a little, they do the hopscotch, then they
04:46follow the line, then they come in and then they have the ice cream, you know, whether
04:53it's a carnival cone, cotton candy, Dippin' Dots, whatever, and it's just a fun time.
05:00And you have generations of families that are coming here now, the grandparents, parents,
05:05children.
05:06It's really wonderful.
05:07Yeah.
05:08Something coming up this summer, very exciting, is Dan's Chef of the Hamptons.
05:14Chef of the Hamptons.
05:16So it's going to be June 9th at The Point in East Hampton and I've been invited to be
05:22a chef and do the dessert.
05:25We do many carnival cones, cotton candy and glitter, edible glitter, and it's just a fun
05:32time also.
05:33That's great.
05:34We'll look forward to it.
05:35It's at Dan's Papers event at The Point in East Hampton.

05:44You mentioned to me that a video was done here by an insider, Allie Weissman.
05:51We did a really cute video and posted it on the Business Insider that Monday.
05:57That Monday we had a million views.
05:59That was like five years ago.
06:01That's incredible.
06:02And then that week we had four million views and it went viral.
06:07People started coming from all over to shop ice cream for the carnival cone and it was
06:13crazy.
06:14And five years later we're still doing it and it's fun.
06:17It's really fun.

06:19Well, we have a treat.

08:46But I took it out.
08:47I put it over here.
08:48And it was next to the machine.
08:50And then whipped it up.

08:59And people come in knowing about your carnival cone now.
09:02And come in specifically asking for it.

09:09So we put sprinkles.

09:16And then we always top it off with an emoji.
09:19We have an endless supply of different emojis.
09:23We just decorate it.
09:25You can do this for birthday parties.

09:29And during COVID, we did a carnival kit.

09:32Like deconstructed it.
09:33Put the cotton candy, the cones, the ice cream, the glitter, the emojis in a box.
09:39And they were able to take it home and make their own carnival cone.

09:44Yeah.

12:22And we put the ice cream in the middle.
12:25It seals the bun.

12:28Decorate it with some toppings, whatever you want.
