00:02 Coffee break with me, woo!
00:08 So I have a really special tutorial for you guys today,
00:12 but before I get attacked
00:16 and before I cause another controversy
00:18 between parents and moms attacking me
00:22 or 13 year olds telling me
00:23 I don't know what I'm talking about,
00:25 this tutorial is for the younger teen girls.
00:30 And the only reason that I'm doing it
00:32 is because one of my subscribers asked me to help
00:36 because she's 13 and doesn't know anything about makeup
00:40 and wanted an age appropriate makeup tutorial,
00:44 which to me says a lot about this young girl.
00:46 It says, I'm 13, I realize I'm not gonna put on
00:50 10 pounds of makeup like you do,
00:52 but can you please help me do a look
00:55 that is good for my age?
00:57 So for me, I was honored to get that request.
01:02 Now, before you guys say, at 13 I didn't use makeup,
01:07 you know, I'm a mom of a 13 year old,
01:08 I would never let her use makeup.
01:10 I understand all of that because I wasn't a teen
01:13 too long ago and my parents didn't let me use makeup,
01:17 not because they didn't want me to use makeup,
01:20 but because I really wasn't interested.
01:22 I didn't start using makeup until I was 15,
01:25 it was around my quinceanera, so probably around 15.
01:29 And my mom was really open-minded,
01:31 she was like, oh, you wanna learn how to use that?
01:32 Here, I'll teach you.
01:33 You wanna learn how to use that?
01:34 I'll teach you.
01:35 So my mom was really cool, she wasn't one of those moms
01:37 that was like, no, no, no, you're not going to use makeup.
01:40 So it's really important,
01:44 I don't wanna give parenting advice
01:45 because I hate when I get parenting advice,
01:49 but as a young mom,
01:51 I think it's really important to change with the time
01:55 because if we get really stuck in our old,
02:00 antiquated or old-fashioned ways
02:01 or the ways that we were raised,
02:03 we're gonna kind of lose that connection
02:05 with our own children.
02:06 So I don't agree with how much time has changed
02:09 from when I was little.
02:11 I remember playing outside on my bicycle
02:13 and in dirt and climbing trees
02:15 and now everyone has their face in a monitor.
02:18 So I don't agree with how time has changed,
02:20 but I do agree with changing with it
02:23 so that we don't get left behind, especially as parents.
02:26 So now that cosmetics are geared towards younger girls
02:30 and they're showing interest in enhancing their beauty
02:33 and I have the platform to help,
02:37 I feel that if I can help a 13-year-old
02:41 achieve a natural, affordable, non-hooker makeup look,
02:47 then I am all for helping.
02:49 So please do not burn me at the stake, okay?
02:52 I'm not trying to do anything controversial.
02:54 I'm just trying to help out my subbie.
02:56 So I designed a tutorial that is age-appropriate
03:01 for a young teen girl,
03:04 but this is also a tutorial for moms on the go,
03:07 for someone that doesn't really like makeup,
03:09 that just wants to look touched up,
03:11 someone that likes that really, really, really,
03:13 really natural look,
03:15 or that really likes affordable drugstore products.
03:17 So this tutorial is designed to be quick, easy, fast,
03:21 affordable, and I guess readily available.
03:25 These products are pretty much available
03:27 at all drugstores and big box stores,
03:30 and you could use coupons on them.
03:32 Anyways, if you wanna see how I got this really,
03:36 really simple young age-appropriate look,
03:39 please keep watching.
03:40 So right now I have a naked face.
03:41 I am actually just wearing my moisturizer,
03:43 and I did put a little bit of a salmon color concealer
03:46 because you guys know I have that severe critical condition,
03:51 panda eye disease.
03:52 So I wanted to look as 13-year-old as possible,
03:56 and that's the only thing that I apply to cheat.
03:59 Let's get started with the face.
04:01 When I was growing up and I started makeup,
04:04 I only did pressed powder.
04:06 I remember my first pressed powder
04:08 was in that round green compact from CoverGirl,
04:12 and it was the oil control version,
04:14 which I've never been oily,
04:16 but I guess that's where it all began.
04:18 So what I have is a couple options.
04:21 If you are a more adventurous 13-year-old,
04:24 you could try a BB cream,
04:26 and probably my best suggestion,
04:28 because at 13 you're still doing physical education,
04:32 you're still outdoors, you're probably walking to school,
04:35 I would recommend the Revlon Photo Ready BB Cream.
04:38 It is, I think, maybe eight or nine dollars,
04:41 but it does provide really good coverage,
04:44 not that you need it.
04:46 And the best part is it has 30 SPF, or sun protection,
04:51 which is a huge plus.
04:54 You want to start fighting against those wrinkles
04:58 at a young age.
04:58 So this is if you have a parent
05:03 or if you want a more complicated makeup routine,
05:08 but like I said, when I was growing up,
05:10 my very first foundation or face product
05:15 was just a press powder.
05:16 So a really good press powder for a young 13-year-old
05:21 would be probably the Maybelline Dream Matte,
05:24 or any of the products from CoverGirl
05:26 are really sheer cover,
05:27 and they're very gentle on the skin.
05:29 So I'm just going to take my Maybelline Dream Matte,
05:32 and with the sponge that comes in it,
05:36 or the little poof, this is a little powder poof,
05:39 I am just going to concentrate on my forehead,
05:42 down my nose, a little bit on the sides of my nose,
05:46 and then on my chin.
05:47 I'm not going to put it all over my face.
05:49 You do not need to do this at your age.
05:52 Do not overdo it, girls.
05:54 You want to look natural and beautiful.
05:56 And if you guys can tell, I'm not rubbing it in my face
06:01 because I don't want to clog my pores.
06:03 I'm patting it onto the surface of my skin.
06:09 That's all I did.
06:10 Another tip that I want to share with you guys,
06:12 at this age, you may have just started
06:14 plucking your eyebrows, or I don't know if you don't.
06:19 I've always had these eyebrows.
06:22 These are not plucked eyebrows.
06:23 These are just my eyebrows.
06:25 I didn't start drawing my eyebrows
06:27 until I was in high school, and trust me, it was a joke.
06:29 They were terrible.
06:30 But a good tip, take a Q-tip, wet it,
06:33 and then clean your eyebrows
06:35 in case you got any powder on them.
06:37 That way, they look bold without having to add any product
06:41 because when you apply powder over them,
06:43 they will start to look a little ashy or powdery,
06:46 so if you clean them up, it brings back
06:48 that natural hair color that you have in your brows.
06:51 That I forgot to share with you guys is
07:00 if you have a problem with blemishes
07:02 or you feel a little bit insecure about certain spots,
07:05 I know that at that age is when you start
07:07 to get those random monthly breakouts.
07:09 And a good concealer, an affordable concealer,
07:13 is the L'Oreal True Match.
07:15 It's a big chubby crayon,
07:16 and it comes in several different colors.
07:18 And this is good for just spot concealing.
07:22 If you notice, like, oh my God, I woke up this morning
07:24 and I have a giant zit on my face,
07:27 it's good for just covering that tiny little spot.
07:29 I have several breakouts on my chin right now,
07:32 and so I'm just gonna take a little bit
07:35 and apply that to the areas of my face
07:37 where I feel a little self-conscious or uncomfortable,
07:40 and then taking your ring finger,
07:42 just softly blend it out.
07:44 And the reason I applied it after my powder
07:54 is I wanted to stick to the powder
07:55 and I wanted to get a little bit more full coverage.
07:58 If I had applied it to my face first and then the powder,
08:03 I couldn't have used this applicator to apply it
08:07 because this is a fabric applicator
08:09 and the concealer is wet.
08:11 It's a moisture product.
08:13 So it'll just create bacteria on the sponge
08:15 and then you'll just get more breakouts.
08:17 So although it is contradictory to apply a dry product
08:21 and then a wet product,
08:23 in this case, when you're just applying
08:25 a tiny bit of powder, it's okay to do.
08:27 It won't look cakey.
08:28 If you guys can see, my chin doesn't look cakey or terrible.
08:31 Okay, after we do our face, clean up our eyebrows,
08:34 and conceal any blemishes that we have,
08:37 you could do a blush.
08:40 I didn't know about blush.
08:42 I never used blush.
08:44 In fact, I only used bronzer until,
08:47 probably until I got married.
08:52 I didn't use blush.
08:54 I was too scared to use blush.
08:55 I didn't wanna be one of those people
08:57 that didn't know how to apply blush and looked like a clown.
09:00 So I didn't use blush until I was like 24,
09:03 believe it or not.
09:05 I just used a bronzer to kinda give my face some definition,
09:08 but you're too young for that.
09:10 So go ahead and take a light pink,
09:13 a light pale baby pink,
09:15 and apply that to the apples of your cheek
09:17 with a fluffy blush.
09:19 Two product recommendations for you
09:21 would be Pearlescent Pink by Wet n Wild,
09:25 but this is a little bit pigmented.
09:28 So if you have a heavy hand,
09:30 you can end up looking like you put on too much.
09:34 And another recommendation is the NYX blush in Angel,
09:39 and this is just the most gentle, soft, pale pink
09:45 that just gives you that perfect right amount of rosiness.
09:49 (crickets chirping)
09:52 I don't know what's going on with my lighting, you guys.
10:03 I really hope you guys can see what I'm trying to show you.
10:05 Today, it's like a rainy, super dark,
10:08 super gloomy day here in Dallas,
10:10 and there's just no light.
10:12 I have absolutely no, no, no light,
10:14 except those little crappy lights that I ordered
10:17 to help my video quality.
10:20 But usually, I depend on natural light.
10:22 That's where I get most of my light from,
10:24 and today is just not one of those days.
10:26 So, sorry, Mother Nature is not cooperating.
10:29 Okay, so we did our face,
10:31 we did a little bit of concealing,
10:32 we cleaned up our eyebrows,
10:33 we applied some blush just to the apples of our cheek.
10:36 Remember, you wanna use a really light, pale pink.
10:40 Now, the other thing that we're going to do
10:41 is we're gonna take a waterproof brown eyeliner.
10:44 At 13, I don't think you should use any eyeliner,
10:48 but I do know what it's like.
10:51 Puppy, no grites, mi amor.
10:53 No grites, bebe.
10:56 I do know what it's like to have very little eyelashes.
11:02 You guys know, I have hair in places
11:06 that a girl does not wanna have hair.
11:08 Like my arms, when I was picked on a lot in school,
11:11 they would call me tarantula arms.
11:14 And so I have hair, I have a lot of hair on my arms,
11:18 but I have no eyebrows and no eyelashes.
11:20 So I do know what that's like,
11:22 and I could tell you put on a couple coats of mascara,
11:26 but if you don't have a lot of eyelashes,
11:28 it's really not gonna make that big of a difference.
11:30 So if you have cool parents or guardians
11:33 that let you wear eyeliner,
11:35 reach for a brown eyeliner rather than a black eyeliner.
11:39 It will give you the depth
11:42 or the appearance of more lashes
11:45 without being harsh like a black liner.
11:47 And the reason you wanna waterproof
11:49 is so that it lasts all day.
11:51 So just take a brown liner
11:53 and apply that to your upper lash line
11:58 or the rim, the top rim of your eyelashes or your eyelid.
12:02 So go ahead and apply that brown liner.
12:04 Then what you're going to do is curl your lashes.
12:07 And when you curl your lashes,
12:10 you wanna be really careful
12:11 because eyelashes take, I don't know,
12:13 I don't remember where I read something like
12:15 if you rip out one eyelash,
12:16 it takes like a year to grow back.
12:18 So treat your eyelashes really carefully
12:21 and curl them with an eyelash curler.
12:25 Be very gentle.
12:27 I have heard the Ilf eyelash curler,
12:29 it's $1 at Target, is really, really good.
12:31 So maybe if you don't have one,
12:33 that might be something that you can go out and get.
12:40 Curling your eyelashes really makes a huge difference
12:42 in the way your eyes look
12:45 or your eyelashes turn out after you apply mascara.
12:49 After you've curled your lashes,
12:50 you wanna apply maybe one or two coats
12:54 of your favorite mascara.
12:55 Remember that you don't wanna apply
12:59 a really volumizing mascara,
13:02 a mascara that's going to make your eyelashes thick.
13:05 You want a mascara that will make your eyelashes long.
13:08 You want your eyelashes to look
13:13 like an accessory on your face.
13:16 You don't want people to look at your eyelashes,
13:18 you want them to look at you.
13:19 So you're basically just wanting a mascara
13:23 that will make your lashes look like your lashes but better.
13:27 And that's basically the theme of this whole tutorial.
13:31 Your skin but better, your cheeks but better,
13:34 your brows but better type of concept.
13:37 This is a volumizing mascara,
13:40 it's the Clump Crusher by CoverGirl.
13:42 But if you just use one or two coats,
13:44 it doesn't build that much volume
13:46 where it will distract from your natural beauty.
13:49 So I just went ahead and put one coat on my top lashes
13:57 and one coat on my bottom lashes.
13:59 I wouldn't even suggest doing your bottom
14:01 because you probably don't need to.
14:03 But I mean, if you already have your mascara,
14:05 I might as well give you that extra little touch.
14:08 And the very last thing for this look is a lip balm,
14:12 a really cute lip balm,
14:13 something that makes your lips hydrated,
14:17 provides some protection,
14:18 and gives you just a little bit of tint
14:20 or a little bit of color so that you don't look so pale.
14:24 And my special purchase just for this tutorial
14:29 is actually a baby lips from Maybelline.
14:32 And I don't even need to explain this to you guys,
14:34 you probably know exactly what this is
14:36 and you have it in like every single flavor.
14:38 I have no idea what flavor, scent, aroma,
14:40 or anything this is.
14:41 It's the hot pink one.
14:43 And I'm just gonna go ahead and apply this to my lips.
14:47 And that is it for this tutorial for younger girls.
14:50 I wanna really, really repeat that I, at 13,
14:56 had no idea about makeup.
14:57 I didn't know anything about makeup.
14:59 I didn't use makeup.
15:00 But I know times change
15:01 and we kinda gotta change with the times.
15:04 So this special subscriber reached out to me
15:06 and asked me to help out.
15:08 And I thought if I can clarify something
15:12 or I could teach you how to look age appropriate,
15:15 I'd be more than happy to help.
15:16 So again, let's go ahead and do like a little recap.
15:19 There's a teacher in me.
15:21 At this age, you guys wanna embrace your natural beauty.
15:26 You don't want to change anything
15:28 because makeup is like Pandora's box.
15:32 Once you open it, you can't put it back in.
15:34 Once you start using makeup,
15:36 it's really hard not to use makeup.
15:38 You start to feel more confident with it
15:41 and more insecure without it.
15:43 And that's not the point of makeup.
15:44 Makeup is a tool to enhance what you already have
15:49 and to make it just a little bit more special.
15:54 But never forget that what you have is already beautiful.
15:57 Makeup is just a tool to enhance what you already have.
16:01 Remember that, okay?
16:02 So a quick recap.
16:04 If you want, you could use a BB cream
16:07 like the Revlon Photo Ready.
16:09 This is a little bit pricey, I think,
16:11 for 13-year-old makeup.
16:14 But it does have 30 SPF or sun protection,
16:17 which is good, especially if you're
16:20 an outdoorsy kind of girl.
16:21 But what I used when I started using makeup,
16:27 which was like 15 or 16, was just a pressed powder.
16:30 And my pressed powder of choice
16:31 is the Maybelline Dream Matte Powder.
16:33 It keeps you matte and it doesn't make you
16:35 look cakey or powdery.
16:38 If you, excuse me, I'm choking.
16:41 If you struggle with blemishes,
16:42 you wanna have a really good thick concealer on hand
16:45 to cover just certain spots.
16:49 Do not start putting concealer in your under eye.
16:52 Do not start concealing redness or any of that
16:55 because you don't have any right now, okay?
16:57 Just focus on spot blemishing.
17:00 Like I have a couple on my chin.
17:02 I just took a little bit and put it on my chin.
17:04 The one that I used was the L'Oreal True Match Crayon.
17:09 Again, all of these products are drugstore affordable
17:12 and you could use coupons.
17:13 Then for a blush, I did the NYX Blush in Angel,
17:18 which is just a really pretty pale pink.
17:21 For my eyes, I used the Jane Waterproof Eyeliner in Brown.
17:28 And the CoverGirl Clump Crusher.
17:31 And the last thing that I used on my lips
17:35 was just a baby lips, which is going to provide me
17:38 just a natural rosiness or a tint to my lips.
17:42 It's going to keep them hydrated
17:43 and it's going to keep that color on my face.
17:46 So again, remember at this age, embrace your beauty
17:50 because once you start to get to my age,
17:52 which I still won't tell you,
17:55 you start to notice other things like bags under your eyes
17:58 or you start getting little sleep
18:00 or when you go to high school or college, you're studying.
18:02 That's when you start getting the dark circles
18:04 or bigger breakouts.
18:06 So right now at 13, embrace what you have,
18:09 take advantage of your natural beauty
18:11 and be thankful that you don't have a long makeup routine
18:15 to add to your mornings before school.
18:18 So I really hope you guys enjoyed this tutorial.
18:21 Please give me a thumbs up or comment down below
18:23 if you found it useful.
18:25 And I think that's it guys.
18:27 Until next time, this Coffee Break is over.
