00:07 I don't know if you guys are familiar, but last year when I started my channel I did
00:14 a holiday gift guide for beauty lovers and it was such a success.
00:18 Basically what I do is I figured out a way to disguise my horrible shopping addiction
00:24 and buying all of these gift sets.
00:26 I titled it a holiday gift guide.
00:28 So basically I buy all of these presents for myself, I tell you all about them, and I recommend
00:32 these products to you to purchase for the beauty lover in your life, which you and I
00:39 both know is you.
00:42 So last year it was really successful and I thought that I would do it again this year,
00:48 but I'm trying to do it so that it's very like personal taste specific.
00:57 So today is Wednesday.
00:59 I'm going to be posting a gift guide every Wednesday and it's going to be categorized.
01:04 Today we're going to talk about palettes.
01:06 Next Wednesday, I don't know, maybe we'll talk about stocking stuffers or maybe we'll
01:10 talk about lips.
01:12 Maybe we'll talk about skin care.
01:13 I don't know.
01:14 So I want to divide it into categories because not every beauty lover loves every beauty
01:21 product.
01:22 You know what I mean?
01:23 Like for example, me, I'm not a big mascara fan or I'm not a big eyeliner fan.
01:30 Those are kind of the items that I repurchase the same thing over and over and over and
01:35 over again.
01:36 So what I thought I would do is I would divide it into categories, let you know how much
01:39 they cost, why I think they're a good gift, where you could find them.
01:43 I'll list it in the description box like I always do.
01:47 But the best thing about this is that I think I'm going to do five or six of these gift
01:52 guides.
01:53 Five or six.
01:54 In one of those, I'm going to hide a secret grand prize, but there will only be one winner.

02:24 palette from Urban Decay.
02:26 Now this is one of those gifts that you would get probably someone that is like really into
02:32 makeup or that you know really, really well because it's a little daunting or daring to
02:39 give someone a palette with these colors if you don't know them very well or you don't
02:45 know their taste very well.
02:47 Always make sure you keep that gift receipt, you know?
02:50 But the reason I like this palette is because it's really great quality eyeshadow.
02:54 It comes from a very reputable company.
02:58 It comes with a fantastic double-ended brush.
03:01 I don't like double-ended brushes, but these are really high quality brushes, and you could
03:06 really complete a look with the eyeshadows and the brush in this palette.
03:10 And the plus about it is that this year it came in a slimmer version, and it also comes
03:15 with a little slip cover or almost like a makeup bag to protect the case, or it even
03:22 fits your iPad.
03:23 So it's kind of one of those gifts that you really want for that one specific person.

04:25 It's the thicker packaging from the original Vice palettes.
04:29 It comes with almost the same identical brush as the Vice 3, but the colors are a little
04:35 bit more different.
04:36 The colors in here are a little bit more tame than most Vice palettes, but they are not
04:42 organized in a user-friendly manner.
04:45 If you guys remember, I told you guys that the Vice 3 was organized really nicely, where
04:49 it's organized in neutrals, blues, and it's organized by quads.
04:55 So I really like that about this palette.
04:57 This palette, I feel like they made it a little bit, I'm dropping stuff.
05:02 I feel like they made it a while ago, and so it still had that Vice flair to it, where
05:06 all the shadows are just scattered across the palette.
05:09 So again, this would be an option for someone that's a really big makeup junkie, makeup
05:14 connoisseur, they know what they like, they're Urban Decay shadow junkies.
05:19 It's a limited edition palette, and it's exclusive to Sephora.
05:23 So this is an even more fancy or special gift, you know what I mean?
05:29 Because most people don't know about this palette, so showing up with a Vice palette
05:33 that most people won't have will be like, "Okay, you're getting laid tonight."

05:38 I'm acting like if guys are watching my channel.
05:41 So that is the LTD, or limited edition, Vice palette.
05:46 The other palette that I want to talk to you guys about, I actually just received in the
05:50 mail a couple of days ago.
05:53 I wasn't going to talk about it, because I just bought it for myself, because I love
05:58 Smashbox eyeshadows, but the minute my finger hit one of those shadows, I was like, "Oh,
06:05 my pandas need to know about this."
06:07 This is the Smashbox On The Rocks Photo Op Eyeshadow Palette.
06:13 Comes in a really pretty box.
06:14 It has one of those little flyers inside, those little booklets with suggested eye looks.
06:21 Every holiday season, Smashbox comes out with a monster-sized palette that just takes my
06:26 breath away.
06:27 Usually, it has face products.
06:29 Usually, like blush, highlight, bronzer, whatever.
06:32 This one didn't, but I'm not complaining.
06:35 The packaging, you can see it's a little holographic.
06:37 Is that how you say it?
06:39 Holographic?
06:40 It has a little flip-up magnetized closure, and then it has a big mirror that I never
06:46 use.
06:47 The eyeshadows are in here, and they're labeled with one of those little inserts, which you
06:51 don't really use.
06:54 But you guys, oh my goodness gracious.
07:00 You stare at this palette, and you're like, "Dani, there is nothing special about that
07:04 palette.
07:06 Why is this a suggested gift?"
07:09 You have a neutral lover in your life, and that neutral lover, they love makeup, but
07:17 they like to keep it classic, traditional, neutral.
07:21 This is one of those eyeshadow palettes that's classic, traditional, neutral, and elegant
07:26 with little pops of jewel tones.
07:30 If that classic, traditional beauty in your life wants to feel a little wild one night
07:36 and add a sapphire or a garnet color, a beautiful amethyst, boom, they have it in this palette.
07:44 Not to mention that the colors themselves are really good quality.
07:47 It's one of those eyeshadows that, not the soft that an eyeshadow bully like me would
07:54 crush to death, no.
07:56 Soft as in silky.
07:58 It's one of those formulas where it almost, it's so soft, but it's not powdery.

08:06 It doesn't break apart.
08:07 It's just, it almost feels like a cream shadow.
08:10 Does that make sense at all to anybody?
08:12 Because I feel like if I do this, you'll understand me better.

08:22 I guess I should tell you, have I been telling you the prices?

08:27 This one is $42, so it's a little bit on the pricey side, but you guys, it's so heavy.
08:31 It feels like one of those really luxe gifts.
08:33 Now let's talk about an Ulta exclusive, and this is from Tarte.
08:40 Tarte every year, Tarte and Too Faced.
08:42 I feel like they're almost the same company.
08:44 Tarte and Too Faced every year release holiday products exclusive to Ulta and holiday products
08:49 exclusive to Sephora.
08:51 This is the Away We Go eyeshadow set, and it's exclusive to Ulta.
08:58 It is a $48 set.
09:02 Now it comes in really pretty packaging.
09:04 I mean, you could just stick a bow on it and you're good to go.
09:08 It comes in a really beautiful box like this.
09:10 I would totally keep this box.
09:11 Look how beautiful it is.
09:12 It almost looks like I'm matched.

09:18 Let me naked it up for you guys.
09:19 Yeah, I said naked it up.
09:22 It comes like this, and it's one of those sets that has the inserts, like the palette
09:28 inserts.
09:29 There are four sets.
09:31 Each set comes with four eyeshadows and a blush.
09:34 It comes with this holder.
09:36 It's like a little compact holder to put whatever palette you want to use into.
09:41 Three lip glosses and a mascara.
09:46 I am a little bit ... My personal taste, like if someone was getting me a gift, I'm not
09:52 a big fan of little palettes like this that you have to insert into a container.
09:57 But if you have someone in your life that travels, this could be very useful.
10:03 If you have someone in your life that has limited space, this could be useful, because
10:07 this could be one of those things where you take out the palette, put it in the compact,
10:10 put this in the bathroom or in your vanity drawer, and then when you want to mix it up,
10:14 go in and switch out the palettes of this set.
10:18 So I really like that.
10:19 I also like that it has three neutral lip options, but they're three different shades.
10:23 You have the pinkish berry, you have the soft blush tone, and then you have the nude.
10:27 And of course, everyone loves the Lights, Camera, Lashes mascara.
10:30 It's one of those great lengthening and volumizing mascaras, and you really can't go wrong with
10:35 it.
10:36 So I thought I would show you this because, like I said, we all have different people
10:41 in our lives that like beauty products for certain reasons.
10:45 So if you have that traveler or that limited space or that person that just simply loves
10:50 natural products or neutral products, this is a really, really good option.
10:55 I honestly can't wait to dive in because Tarte has some of the best high-quality blushes
11:01 that stay on all day.
11:03 And I love that even though the eyeshadow colors look a little boring and neutral, they
11:09 do offer a wide selection of finishes.
11:12 So for example, this one here has three shimmery shades and then a satin finish.
11:19 And they're all different undertones.
11:21 My favorite would obviously be this one because this is more of a warm, neutral brown quad,
11:30 but it has that like almost orange-y camel color for the transition that I wear.
11:37 No matter what eyeshadow I'm using, I always reach for a color like this.
11:41 So I really like this.
11:42 I feel like it's a really well-rounded set.
11:44 Now let's talk about the set that would wow someone, and this is the Too Faced Everything
11:49 Nice.
11:50 Too Faced comes out with this set every year, and every year I say, "It looks exactly like
11:55 the previous year.
11:56 I'm not going to buy it."
11:58 And I end up getting it.
12:00 So last year's was one of my favorites.
12:02 I still use it.
12:03 I really love it.
12:04 It's high quality, and it's a really, really great deal for the amount of stuff that you
12:10 get.
12:11 It's a fantastic deal.
12:12 So it comes already like this in a really beautiful set.
12:14 It's kind of one of those things where you stick a bow on it, so out of convenience,
12:18 it's amazing.
12:19 This year it's a little different because it does come with brushes.
12:23 Last year's did not.
12:24 So I feel like almost this year you're getting a plus, like an added bonus.
12:29 It comes with the Better Than Sex Deluxe Size Mascara, which it also did come with last
12:34 year.
12:35 It's one of my favorite mascaras.
12:36 I really enjoy it, although I feel like the deluxe size is a little bit different than
12:43 the full size.
12:44 I prefer the full size version.
12:46 It comes with a beautiful makeup bag.
12:50 It's kind of rough because it has glitter stuck to it, so it's a little rough.
12:55 I don't know.
12:56 It's kind of flashy.
12:57 So you kind of want to gauge if it's going to be something that your beauty lover would
13:02 like, which we both know is you.
13:05 So I really like it.
13:06 I love how reflective it is.
13:08 I love how festive it is.
13:09 After all, it is the holidays, so you want bright, flashy, beautiful, glitzy, and glamorous
13:14 colors, you know?
13:16 And then the best part of the whole set is the actual palette.
13:21 This palette is a little bit thicker than last year's.
13:23 I would say about a third or even a half thickness thicker.
13:30 You guys love my descriptions.
13:34 So it's a little bit thicker and it's a little bit heavier, but this year's does come with
13:37 brushes.
13:38 So when you open up the palette, you just simply can't not smell that strong aroma of
13:44 the Chocolate Soleil Bronzer.
13:46 It's just overwhelmingly delicious, amazing.
13:48 You want to lick the palette, basically.
13:51 So when you open it up, you see all 20 shades in the palette.
13:54 They look very similar to last year's, but they really aren't.
13:58 I promise you guys.
13:59 Where is my palette?
14:00 If it was within reach, I would show you guys.
14:02 But it's similar, but it's not the same.
14:05 This year's, honestly, I got this palette for one huge reason, and that's this color
14:12 right here called Girly.
14:14 You can't tell on camera, but it's the most beautiful brownish turquoise, bluish duo chrome
14:20 of life, magnificence, amazing.
14:23 Yes.
14:24 This shadow right here.
14:25 So you have these 20 eyeshadows, and then you have the Chocolate Soleil Bronzer.
14:29 You have two blushes, Impapa Don't Preach and Sweet Pink, and then you have this Inner
14:34 Light Highlight, which if you're fair enough, it could be almost like a blush or even a
14:39 blush topper.
14:41 And then it has these three little brushes right here, which are really, really, really
14:46 cute.
14:47 We didn't have these last year, so this is almost like a plus.
14:49 Last year, there was basically just a little cardboard insert and just wasted space right
14:53 here.
14:54 So I love that they added that personal touch this year.
14:57 This palette retails for $56.
15:01 So if you think about it, this is $56, and the Vice palettes are $59 and $60.
15:08 The only difference is that this one has those face products, and it doesn't have a mirror.
15:13 The Vice palettes have an enormous mirror on the inside.
15:16 This one does not have a mirror, but you do get the mascara and the little bag that comes
15:20 with it.
15:21 Now the last thing that I want to talk to you guys about is for those beauties on a
15:24 budget.
15:25 You're like, "All right, Dani.
15:26 You're so fancy.
15:27 You've just mentioned $50 makeup products right now.
15:29 What about for those of us that are on a budget?"
15:31 I have an answer for you, and the answer is from LA Girl.
15:35 LA Girl just recently launched these four palettes.
15:40 You guys.
15:41 When I got these palettes, I was like, "Ugh."
15:44 You know, I'm a snob.
15:45 What can I say?
15:46 I was like, "Oh, they're going to suck."
15:49 That was almost like the same feeling that I got when I got the Coastal Scents Revealed
15:55 2 palette.
15:56 I was like, "Oh, these are going to suck."
15:57 They're really good.
15:58 These are amazing palettes.
15:59 LA Girl just launched four palettes.
16:03 They're mostly neutrals, except for this crazy neon one.
16:06 These are $10 palettes.
16:08 They're reminiscent of the Naked palettes with how many colors they have and the way
16:12 that they're laid out.
16:14 This is what the neon palette looks like.
16:17 The colors aren't chalky.
16:19 They're really pigmented and soft, which is very surprising for such an affordable brand.
16:24 I really, really like that.
16:26 Then they have the Smoky set.
16:28 The Smoky set, I thought I wasn't going to like because I was like, "Usually, Smoky palettes
16:33 are cool-toned, and they make me look like I just crawled out of a grave."
16:38 These have half warm and half cool-toned Smoky shades.
16:42 How cool is that?
16:44 It's almost like they thought about everything.
16:47 Then they have the Nudes, which is reminiscent of the Naked palettes, like I told you guys,
16:51 in color and in layout.
16:55 Do you see that?
16:58 All of the palettes have a combination of mattes, shimmers, and metallics.
17:02 That's a really big plus.
17:03 Then the last one is called Ultra, which I don't know where they got the name from, but
17:08 it's all purpley shades.
17:10 They're all purpley, rosy tones.
17:12 Again, these are $9.99, I believe, so they're $10 palettes.
17:18 Really soft and buttery, really creamy.
