LIPS Holiday Gift Guide For Beauty Lovers

00:09 So today I am back with my second installment to my holiday gift guide for beauty lovers.
00:18 I really hope you guys are enjoying this series.
00:20 This is basically where I take holiday products, limited edition products, products that I've
00:25 recently found at the store that I think a beauty lover would like.
00:29 Now the thing that I do differently is that I subcategorize each video.
00:34 So last Wednesday's video was all about palettes.
00:37 Palettes that you could get that beauty lover in your life and they would really like it
00:42 or why they would like it or you know what I mean, like the neutrals and the crazy colors
00:46 and things like that.
00:47 This week we're going to focus on the lip lover.
00:50 I think that's probably the most popular beauty junkie out there is the lip lover.
00:54 So that was a really hard, that was a really hard purchase or shopping trip for me because
01:02 it's kind of tricky to determine lip colors for certain people because not a lot of people
01:09 like red and not a lot of people follow trends and some people, you know, have sensitive
01:13 lips and are allergic to certain ingredients or whatever.
01:16 So what I did is I kept it simple.
01:19 I kept it with a little bit of variety and affordable, midpoint, and expensive and then
01:25 I thought well at least if I inspire you or give you a couple of ideas then you could
01:29 go from there.
01:30 The first product I want to talk to you guys about is this small set from Too Faced.
01:33 It is such a brilliant idea.
01:36 First of all, I am a huge fan of their melted liquefied lipsticks.
01:41 These are long wearing lip colors that are not drying.
01:44 It feels almost like you're applying a lipstick and then it dries a little bit like a lip
01:49 liner.
01:50 It's very comfortable.
01:51 It doesn't dry out the lips and most of the colors are very flattering.
01:55 This set comes with four colors, nude, peony, fuchsia, and berry.
01:59 Two of my favorites are peony and berry.
02:02 So knowing that they're in here is really, really awesome.
02:05 The best thing is that it comes with a $25 price point.
02:09 One of these full size melted lipsticks is $21.
02:14 This set is $25 and it comes with four color varieties.
02:18 Now each one is not a full size.
02:20 These are deluxe sample size.
02:22 Let me show you how big it actually is.
02:25 I mean it's not like it's tiny.
02:27 It's a really good size.
02:29 You could get a ton of uses out of one of these and it comes with four.
02:32 So I'm guessing that if you add these all together it's at least one and a half of the
02:38 full size product.
02:39 So I really like that.
02:40 So again, it comes with a $25 price tag.
02:43 I got it at Sephora but I know that other retailers have it.
02:46 I think beauty.com has it.
02:48 Ulta might have it.
02:49 So it's a really cool concept.
02:52 Now if you are still at that age where you give gifts to your friends, like at school.
02:58 I remember when I was in high school we would set a budget where we would spend like $10
03:03 or $20 on each of our friends.
03:06 This would be one of those really cool things that you could buy and you could divide it
03:10 between your friends.
03:11 You could keep one and then you could make three little gift baggies for your friends.
03:14 So it's kind of a really cool idea.
03:16 They're stocking stuffers but regardless it's a good deal and it has four different lip
03:21 colors.
03:22 So if you have a lip lover in your life, it's a really cool present for them.
03:25 The other item is a $39 gift set and this is from Urban Decay.
03:29 It's the Full Frontal Lipstick Stash.
03:32 Now Kat Von D also has a set like this with mini lipsticks but they're very metallic.
03:39 Most people don't like metallic lipsticks.
03:41 I mean the general population don't like metallic lipsticks.
03:45 So I didn't even want to show it to you guys.
03:47 If you know someone that is that specific in their taste for lip products, then go straight
03:52 for the Kat Von D and I think it's $39 as well.
03:55 But I thought this one would be a lot more friendly as a gift because the colors are
04:02 more neutral and the formula of Urban Decay Revolution Lipsticks.
04:08 You might as well be rubbing butter on your lips.
04:10 It is absolutely amazing.
04:12 So this set comes with six different lip colors, three of which are exclusive to this set and
04:19 limited edition.
04:20 That's kind of a problem with these gift sets because it comes in a little cardboard box
04:25 with a magnetic closure and then you see the little six lipsticks inside and a full size
04:31 ozone lip pencil.
04:32 Urban Decay recommends that you use ozone or any, I'm like dropping things, or any anti-feathering
04:39 lip pencil with their lipsticks because they're so emollient and so moisturizing that they
04:45 do tend to bleed on some people, most people.
04:49 So it does come with a full size lip pencil in ozone.
04:52 That's the clear pencil.
04:53 I really like the one from Milani and I think it's like $4.
04:58 I feel like it works better than this one.
05:00 But for $39 you're getting six mini lipsticks, a full size lip pencil, and three of these
05:05 lipsticks are exclusive to this set.
05:08 I'll bring you guys in closer to show you the six colors in this set and tell you which
05:11 ones are exclusive.

05:14 So up close the set looks like this.
05:17 When you open it up it has like the little flap and here are the six colors and the full
05:21 size lip pencil.
05:22 The six colors in this palette are right here and the three colors that are limited edition
05:27 are Lady Fowler, Crush, and Illicit.
05:32 So the first one, the middle one, and the bottom one are the three limited edition exclusive
05:37 to this set.
05:38 So once you run out of the mini you can't find it again.
05:41 So it's kind of a good thing but it's also a bad thing.
05:44 So if you know a lipstick lover in your life that is like a fan of limited edition stuff,
05:51 this set might drive them crazy in a good way.
05:54 This color here is Lady Fowler and it's a really beautiful dusty pink.
05:58 That's what it looks like right there.
06:00 And look how cute these are.
06:01 I mean, you know how I feel about miniature things.
06:04 So this next color is called Crush and this color, I don't know if you guys can tell,
06:11 but it has like a metallic duo-chromy sheen to it.
06:16 It's like a peach but it has almost like a fluorescent sheen on top.
06:20 This one is called Crush and again that's one of the other limited edition colors.
06:25 When you swatch it on your hand, oh my God, the swatch does not do it justice.
06:28 In person, imagine like a really vibrant hot pink with like a fluorescent sheen to it.
06:38 Like if you put on Candy Yum Yum and then went over it with a highlighter, that's what
06:41 it looks like.
06:43 And then this is Illicit, the other limited edition, and this is a nudie pink.
06:47 Let me swatch that for you guys.
06:51 The finish of this one is just glossy so it's a little sheer.
06:56 You see that?
06:57 It's very, very sheer.
06:58 And then the three others are permanent colors so I won't swatch those for you guys.
07:02 I'll just show them to you.
07:04 I'm sure if you're fans, you already know what they look like.
07:07 The first one is F-Bomb, which is a really classic red.
07:10 This is Liar.
07:11 This is one of my favorite nudes.
07:12 Very, very creamy but it's almost like a brownish nude.
07:16 And then this one is Gash.
07:18 Gash came out, I think, as a limited edition but they made it permanent, I believe.
07:24 Correct me if I'm wrong because when this came out, I went bananas over it.
07:27 And it's absolutely one of the most breathtaking reds I have ever seen.
07:32 So it's, I'm just glad it comes in this set because having this red in my purse at all
07:38 times for emergencies is a lifesaver.
07:40 And the last set that I had to absolutely mention is the Give Me More Lip from Sephora.
07:46 Every year around the holidays, Sephora launches gift sets for specific beauty lovers, which
07:51 is initially where I got my idea from.
07:53 They have like a mascara set, an eyeliner set, a nail polish set, a lip lover set.
07:58 It's very helpful when you're buying a gift.
08:00 Now I do have to say that with this year's collection, I'm a little bit disappointed.
08:04 Last year's, I believe, was around the same price, $55 to $60.
08:08 This one's $59, the one for this year.
08:11 And it had the same theme where it was divided into pinks, nudes, reds, and berries.
08:18 But last year's came with full-size products.
08:21 Last year's had one full-size product per color range, and then everything else was
08:26 deluxe sample size.
08:27 This year, I don't think there's a single, no I'm wrong.
08:30 This year there's one full-size product in this entire set.
08:34 So I feel like when you're paying the same price point, but none of the products are
08:38 full-size, it's a little disappointing to say the least.
08:43 But since we're not talking about getting these presents for ourselves, we're talking
08:48 about gifting them.
08:50 Right?
08:51 Who's going to end up getting this set, Dani?
08:53 Me.
08:54 So since we're talking about gifting them, it's a really brilliant concept.
08:57 If you don't know what color preferences your gifty prefers, then it might make it that
09:06 much easier to shop for them.
09:07 So again, this is a $59 set.
09:09 It's called Give Me More Lip.
09:11 They have one called Give Me Some Lip, and that one is $25.
09:15 And it has, I think, four or five items.
09:17 Honestly, I would say get that one over this one, because that one does come with bigger
09:23 products.
09:24 So when you open the box, it opens up like that.
09:28 So it's a really cool box to keep.
09:30 So when you look at the box, the products are divided by color categories.
09:34 So if you look at here, these are the berry colors, these are the reds, these are the
09:38 nudes, and these are the pinks.
09:40 The full-size product is this lip...it's like a fancy lip balm from Tarte in the color
09:47 Flush.
09:49 So it's just a really pretty classic pink.
09:51 It's very glossy, it's very hydrating.
09:53 So it is a good product to have in here as a large size, but you obviously would prefer
09:59 to see something different, like maybe this Stay All Day from Stila, or I don't know,
10:05 even this Posy Tint from Benetint, because everyone loves to have a tinted lip balm in
10:10 their purse, you know?
10:11 So what you get here is a product from Hourglass, Smashbox, Kat Von D, a Sephora lip infusion...or
10:19 maybe this is the full-size.
10:22 I'm annoying, aren't I?
10:23 I have like ferret syndrome.
10:24 Ooh, shiny.
10:25 So I'm pretty sure this is the full-size product.
10:26 Just so you guys can get a general idea of the products that are in here, you have your
10:35 nudes come in Make Up For Ever, Too Faced, Bare Minerals, Laura Mercier, and Stila.
10:39 So these five are really nice, high-end brands.
10:42 Then you have four pink products.
10:45 That same Melted Liquified Lipstick that I was talking to you guys about in this set,
10:50 the same exact size in Melted Fuchsia comes in this set as well.
10:55 Then you have, I think this is Palomino from Bite Beauty, and Palomino is just a really
11:04 beautiful fuchsia, like a really beautiful fuchsia lipstick.
11:08 Yeah, that's Palomino.
11:10 So it's a miniature lipstick from Bite Beauty.
11:13 So again, all these are four really great brands.
11:16 Then here you have a lip balm from Sugar, a miniature lipstick from Buxom, a Tarte Lip
11:23 Surgeon, a mini OCC Lip Tar, the matte version I think in Black Dahlia, which is one of the
11:30 best colors that they have.
11:32 So I mean, you have a really great variety.
11:35 This is almost one of those gifts that you want to give someone where it's just going
11:39 to be excitement all over.
11:41 They're not going to know where to start, which one to use first, or which one to swatch
11:44 first, so it's a very exciting gift to give someone.
11:49 And again, it comes in one of those packages where you could just stick a bow on it.
11:54 Another idea for this one would be to divide it into four presents.
11:57 So if you have four people that you want to give a gift to, you could divide it.
12:03 You could give all the nudes to someone, all the reds to someone, all the berries, and
12:08 then all the pinks to someone, and put in a beautiful organza bag or even a stocking
12:12 and give it to your friends.
12:15 Or you could take one from each category and then give them a really good variety.
12:18 I know the cool thing about this is that within each category, they give you a type of lip
12:23 product.
12:24 So you could give them, say, like you have a lip balm junkie friend.
12:30 You could give them the lip balm from Sugar, the lip balm from Benefit, this really lightweight
12:36 Too Faced, I think they're called Le Creme lipsticks, which are almost like a lip balm.
12:41 They're basically a lip balm with a sheer wash of color, and then this lip stain.
12:46 So you could divide it into the type of products that they like.
12:49 It's one of those gifts that provides alternatives for you.
12:54 You could give it straight as is, or you could divide it into little gift bags and save yourself
12:59 the headache or breaking the bank by just making that one time investment and dividing
13:04 it into several gifts.
