00:00 Hey guys, it's Jen and Rainbow Dash.
00:13 So today's tutorial is a Halloween look that I'm super excited to share with you because
00:18 it's inspired by one of my favorite cartoons ever, which is My Little Ponies.
00:23 I was such a huge fan of the show when I was little, and actually there's like a remake
00:29 of the show now called My Little Pony's Friendship is Magic.
00:32 Yes, my inner geek is coming out right now, but I love the characters so much and of course
00:38 Rainbow Dash has like the coolest hair ever, so I wanted to translate that into a makeup
00:43 tutorial to share with you this Halloween.
00:45 So if you would like to see how to do this bright rainbow-y colored look with the cutie
00:50 stamp over here and bright magenta lips that actually matches her eye color, then please
00:55 keep watching and I'll show you how it's done.
00:58 So to start off, I've already primed my face with the Urban Decay Pore Perfecting Primer
01:03 and I used Makeup Forever HD Foundation in #140.
01:07 Now I'm going to take my eyeshadow primer, I'm using Too Faced Shadow Insurance, and
01:11 I'm applying this all over my lid and around the surrounding areas.
01:16 Bring it all the way back to your temple here.
01:19 So I'm going to use one of my favorite base products, it's the NYX Jumbo Eye Pencil in
01:24 Milk.
01:25 I'm applying this all over my eyelid and I'm also going to bring this all the way back
01:30 up to the temple.
01:31 Don't worry about this part being perfect, we're going to blend it out.
01:34 It should be in an egg-like shape.
01:37 Now I'm just taking my finger and blending this color out.
01:40 I also forgot to mention I'm wearing crazy pink contact lenses because Rainbow Dash's
01:44 eyes are actually pink.
01:48 Now that you look properly crazy with these backwards panda eyes, I'm going to go in with
01:54 this Sugarpill Cosmetics palette and I'm going to take this light blue color called Mochi.
01:59 I'm going to be using my Sigma F40, just a blush brush.
02:03 Load it really well on your brush.
02:05 I'm going to apply this over the white part we just put on our eyes.
02:11 On the eye area, I'm not going to bother going all the way down the eyelid because this is
02:15 going to be filled with some rainbow colors.
02:17 So for now, I'm just kind of going around.
02:20 Alright, so now we look like we're a superhero mask crazy person.
02:26 So we're going to start with the rainbow part of the eyes.
02:29 I'm going to use this Addicted to Pretty Sugarpill eyeshadow set.
02:33 So all of these colors are going to go on the upper lid of the eye.
02:36 So I'm going to go from lightest to darkest on the upper lid starting with this bright
02:40 yellow color.
02:41 So we're going to go in this inner corner and I'm just pressing it down with my eyes
02:45 closed.
02:46 That way it gets on my upper lid and my lower lid at the same time.
02:49 And I'm going to take this to about halfway across the lid.
02:54 Make sure when you add bold colors, instead of swiping it, it works a lot better to just
02:59 press this into the lid.
03:01 That's going to give you the most concentration of color.
03:04 So you're going to want to bring this up pretty high so that after I have lashes on and all
03:09 of that, it's still going to show a lot.
03:11 So the next main lid shade that we're going to use is red.
03:14 We're going to apply this at the three quarter point of the lid right here.
03:23 Now using the same brush I have the red on, I'm going to go in with the orange color.
03:27 I'm using this to bridge the gap between yellow and red.
03:31 So overlap where you did the red and we're going to blend this.
03:37 Next we're going to take a purple shadow.
03:39 I'm using the same brush that I used the red color on.
03:42 And I'm just going to press this into the outer corner.
03:46 Pull the corner up just a little bit and then you can bring that dark color to contour.
03:51 Just bring it up over the red and orange just a little bit.
03:56 Now I'm going to take a clean brush and I'm going to blend out any harsh edges.
04:04 Next we're going to start on the bottom lid using cool colors.
04:07 We already started with the yellow, now I'm going to go in with this green color.
04:11 I'm going to pat this from right under my pupil about there.
04:16 It's just going to kind of go across the middle area.
04:21 One thing you might notice is I'm using the lighter colors to cover a larger area than
04:26 when I use darker colors and that's because it's a lot easier to blend with a base of
04:30 shadow and it's easier to do less and adding a little bit more dark as you go along because
04:37 the dark colors are so pigmented they can kind of overwhelm things really quickly.
04:41 So now I'm going to go in with this bright blue shade and I'm going to add this just
04:46 at the outer corner right here.
04:50 Gently gently blend this into the green and you'll notice even though we did the green
04:55 all the way across, as I blend the blue into the green it turns into a nice gradient of
05:00 color.
05:01 I'm pulling the blue color out and I'm blending it up into the purple.
05:08 Again, blend out any any harsh edges.
05:12 Now that we have our proper rainbow eyes, I'm going to go in with this white eyeshadow
05:16 to do a bit of highlighting.
05:17 So taking a fluffy brush, this is the E25, I'm going to blend this underneath the brow
05:23 bone.
05:24 This should turn into a nice light blue shade to contrast with the blue around it.
05:32 I'm also going to apply this at the top of the cheeks right here.
05:37 And I'm also going to apply this at the very inner corners.
05:40 And I should just lighten up the yellow to be a little bit brighter.
05:44 For the eyebrows, I'm going to use this NYX eyebrow wax to just flatten my existing brows
05:50 first.
05:51 And I'm going to take my angled brush and go back with this lighter blue color.
05:57 I'm just going to fill in my brows.
06:01 Now taking the darkest blue color, I'm going to use this just in the outer half.
06:07 Alright, thoroughly crazy eyebrows, done!
06:11 The next step is you're going to want a really black eyeliner, so I'm taking Urban Decay's
06:16 24/7 liquid eyeliner in Perversion, and starting at the inner corners, I'm creating a very,
06:28 very dramatic line.
06:34 You're going to want to increase the thickness as you go out.
06:37 And at the outer corner, in a line going straight up from your lower lash line, you're going
06:43 to bring it out very, very far.
06:46 Like more than halfway to your eyebrow.
06:49 Now going just a little bit in, you're going to connect to the same point.
06:55 Put your pinky against your face as a guide as you go.
07:05 Now you should have some lovely drawn in long eyelashes, just like a cartoon character.
07:11 And then I'm going to go in with my Urban Decay 24/7 pencil in Perversion to line the
07:16 rest of my waterlines, both upper and lower.
07:24 I'm also going to bring this down onto the lash line, just in the outer corner.
07:31 Now before we put the big lashes on, I want to add Rainbow Dash's cutie mark right here
07:35 at my temple.
07:36 To do that, I'm going to use NYX's slide on eyeliner in pure white.
07:41 So I'm going to draw a little circle here, then a large oval at the bottom, small circle
07:47 at the side, and an oblong shape on the other side.
07:51 That should give you the proper cloud formation.
07:55 I'm going to set that with a white eyeshadow.
08:00 Now we're going to draw on the little rainbow shape.
08:03 So using the closest I have to a red, this is the Urban Decay pencil in Woodstock, I
08:08 drew a line straight out, and then it's going to go up and then down again.
08:13 I'm going to repeat that with a gold color, which is the closest I have to a yellow.
08:17 It's the NYX pencil in Glitzy Gold.
08:20 And then with my NYX pencil in Sunrise Blue, we're going to do that one more time in blue.
08:28 I'm taking the smallest little brush I have, I'm going to fill those in with eyeshadow.
08:36 Now using my Too Faced 3-Way Lash Lining Tool, I'm going to draw an outline around the cloud.
08:48 Go back and touch up anything around the cloud that needs to be covered.
08:54 Now it's time for one of my favorite parts, the crazy false eyelashes.
08:58 To get a good base for the lashes, you're going to want to use a waterproof mascara
09:02 or some kind of mascara that will help in holding up your lashes.
09:06 So first I'm going to curl my lashes with my Shiseido Eyelash Curler.
09:12 And I'm using Urban Decay's Cannonball Mascara.
09:16 I'm also going to apply this on my lower lashes in a pretty heavy layer.
09:26 To help coat individual lashes, turn your mascara wand sideways like this and brush
09:31 down each group of lashes.
09:33 Now I'm going to take these Super 3 Darkness Lashes, they're nice and spiky and have extra
09:38 volume on each corner.
09:39 And I'm going to apply that to the upper lash line.
09:43 Now the shape that I'm applying them is a little bit higher in the middle, so it gets
09:48 a really rounded shape.
09:50 You can see there's a little bit of a gap and it's applied in an arched shape.
09:57 Next I'm taking these Dolly Wink Lower Lashes, which I split into two parts, and I'm going
10:01 to use a half section on my lower lashes.
10:04 So I'm just going to take these and apply them underneath my actual lashes at the very
10:10 outer corners of my eyes.
10:12 I'm going to hold my finger underneath them so that they go forward and dry, sticking
10:18 straight out.
10:20 Now for the rest of my face, I'm going to set my foundation and all of this other creativity
10:25 with my Makeup Forever HD Powder.
10:27 Take a really big fluffy brush and just press this down.
10:32 Just pat it really lightly, you don't want it to be too heavy.
10:38 Now I'm going to apply a purple toned blush, this is Briar Rose from MAC.
10:43 I'm going to bring this underneath the cheekbone area.
10:50 And finally for lips, we're actually going to do a very bright, pink, orchid, fuchsia
10:55 kind of lip.
10:56 So I'm taking this lip liner, this is Urban Decay's Wicked.
11:04 First I drew in the outline and now I'm just going to fill in the entire lip.
11:08 If you start with the outline, you don't have to be quite as precise when you're filling
11:11 in.
11:12 I'm going to take my NYX brown lipstick in Fusion, which is a beautiful magenta-y purple.
11:22 And finally we're going to top that with one of my favorite dazzle glasses, this is in
11:26 Funtabulous.
11:27 I'm just applying that to the center of my lips, on the bottom and top.
11:36 And then do the lipstick test, that's so you don't get any lipstick on your teeth before
11:43 you run out of the house.
11:45 So this is my final look.
11:50 Let me just show you a bit of my costume.
11:52 This is a hoodie that I bought at Anime Expo.
11:55 It is of course Rainbow Dash, sorry about the squeaking, I'm on my couch.
11:59 I like the wings in the back plus the rainbow mane.
12:01 And it also has these little ears on top.
12:04 So thank you guys so much for watching.
