Beautiful Prom & Wedding Hairstyles For ShortMedium Hair Luxy Hair (2)

00:24 It is that time of year again,
00:26 prom is just around the corner,
00:28 and in today's video I'm going to be showing you
00:30 three different prom hairstyles
00:32 on short to medium hair length.
00:34 This is amazing if you're doing your own hair
00:36 or you're doing your friend's hair,
00:37 or just inspiration to bring to your hairdresser.
00:40 Of course, these hairstyles are totally suitable
00:42 for longer hair length
00:43 or even for your Lexie Hare extensions,
00:45 but I wanted to show you these hairstyles
00:47 on my natural hair length,
00:48 which is a little bit more on the short and medium side.
00:51 I hope you guys enjoy this video and let's get started.
00:54 So this first hairstyle is so classy,
00:57 I absolutely love it,
00:58 so what I'm doing is just parting my hair on the side
01:01 and then splitting my hair in half
01:02 so that we have two sections to work with.
01:05 Starting on the side that has the less amount of hair,
01:10 we're gonna be taking a curling wand
01:11 and I'm taking the piece of hair
01:13 and wrapping it away from my face.
01:15 This hairstyle really depends on the way you curl your hair
01:18 so you wanna make sure the side
01:19 that has the less amount of hair
01:20 is curled away from your face,
01:22 and especially by your ear,
01:24 you don't wanna go too close to the root of your hair
01:26 just because we are going to be putting it behind our ear
01:29 and we don't want that weird wave,
01:30 so with the pieces by my ear,
01:32 I'm starting to curl a little bit lower
01:34 and then everywhere else I'll go a little bit higher.
01:37 The reason you're curling this section
01:38 all away from your face
01:39 is because it really just enhances
01:41 that vintage hairstyle look,
01:42 so just continue doing this with the rest of this section.

01:48 ♪ If tonight never comes again ♪
01:52 ♪ I don't mind ♪
01:54 ♪ This is not the end ♪

02:01 - Once this section is complete,
02:02 just spray it with a light-holding hairspray
02:04 so that it's getting those flyaways
02:06 but not making it rock hard.
02:08 Now moving on to the main section,
02:10 this side obviously has more hair on it.
02:12 For the back part of this section,
02:14 you wanna curl it away from your face still.
02:17 You're only gonna be doing this
02:18 with the back section of your hair.
02:19 Once we're closer to our ear,
02:21 we're gonna be flipping the direction of the curl
02:23 to towards our face.
02:24 So this is really, again,
02:25 gonna enhance that vintage hairstyle look.
02:28 So from just before the ear to the front of our face,
02:30 we're gonna be curling all of our curls towards our face.
02:33 (upbeat music)
02:36 When it comes to the very front section,
02:47 I'm taking the curling wand
02:49 and really wrapping my hair around it tight
02:51 and really pushing it back
02:52 so I have that nice vintage wave in the front.
02:55 Once it's complete,
02:56 I'm just spraying it with the light-hold hairspray
02:59 and then we're gonna take a brush
03:00 and just lightly brush through the curls
03:02 so that it becomes more of a wave rather than a curl.
03:05 Once all the curls are brushed through,
03:08 I'm taking the light hairspray again
03:10 and just really spraying down any flyaways or frizz
03:13 just because this hairstyle really is enhanced
03:16 when it's a little bit more sleek and smooth-looking
03:18 rather than messy.
03:19 You can honestly see such a difference
03:21 when you brush it out and spray it.
03:22 It just looks so smooth and so pretty,
03:24 so we're just gonna do the same thing on the other side.
03:27 This hairstyle is like the ultimate classy hairstyle look.
03:31 It's vintage and it really just gives
03:32 that old Hollywood vibe to the look.

03:44 Moving on to hairstyle two,
03:47 I'm just using the same curls that I had in my hair
03:49 for the previous hairstyle,
03:50 but I'm taking this texturizing hairspray
03:52 to really just give me some volume
03:54 and then I'm just going through the top section of my hair
03:57 and I'm taking it in sections and just teasing it
03:59 so that there's some more height and volume.
04:01 Once it's a good height,
04:03 I'm just spraying it with that light hairspray again
04:06 and then I'm taking some bobby pins
04:07 and I'm just sectioning off that top part of my hair
04:10 and pinning it in place
04:11 so that that volume doesn't fall throughout the night.
04:15 For the rest of the hair, it is so easy to do.
04:17 You're just gonna gather it as if you were doing a ponytail
04:19 and then start twisting it as if you were doing a bun,
04:22 but you're gonna leave the ends of your hair out,
04:24 especially if you have those curls in it.
04:26 It just really enhances the look.
04:28 I'm just taking the bobby pins
04:29 and pinning the twist in place
04:31 to make sure it's secure so that it doesn't move.
04:34 Turning around, you're just gonna play with the curls
04:36 that are falling on top.
04:37 This is really up to you on how you wanna style it.
04:39 I'm just pinning some pieces that I felt were too long
04:42 and just getting a little out of control,
04:43 but take your time here.
04:45 You do want some pieces falling out
04:46 just to kinda add to the messy high bun look.
04:49 I love this hairstyle.
04:50 I think it is absolutely striking,
04:52 and if you have a really statement dress,
04:54 especially in the back, this would be the perfect hairstyle.
04:57 (upbeat music)
05:00 Now for the last hairstyle,
05:07 I am parting my hair just off-center
05:10 and making sure to leave out pieces to frame my face,
05:13 and then I'm just gonna go around the back section
05:15 of my hair and lightly backcomb it
05:17 just to make sure that that volume is still there.
05:20 Now I'm using this really pretty jeweled hairband
05:23 for this hairstyle.
05:23 You don't have to, but I just think it gives
05:25 that little added touch to the hairstyle,
05:27 so I'm just placing it on my head,
05:29 making sure I like the placement,
05:31 and then wrapping it around and tying it underneath my hair,
05:34 and then with any extra pieces,
05:35 just flipping it under the band.
05:37 Now for the rest of my hair,
05:38 even though I think it looks pretty just left down,
05:40 I am taking a section on the side
05:42 and lightly twisting it, making sure it's nice and loose,
05:46 and then pinning it in place.
05:47 We're gonna be doing a low, messy bun,
05:49 but this is just gonna add texture to the sides.
05:52 After that one piece is pinned,
05:53 I'm taking another piece just below it,
05:55 backcombing it, twisting it, and pinning it in place.
05:58 I'm doing it one last time to make sure
06:00 all of the hair from that side is twisted
06:02 and pinned to the back.
06:03 (upbeat music)
06:06 And then doing the same thing to the opposite side,
06:11 taking a piece of hair, twisting it very loosely,
06:13 and then pinning it to the back.
06:15 (upbeat music)
06:18 Before we finish the hairstyle,
06:20 I'm just making sure I like the volume
06:22 and the placement of the twist so far
06:24 before we move forward,
06:25 and then I'm just taking the remaining pieces of my hair
06:28 and just lightly twisting them and pinning them in place.
06:31 This hairstyle is so easy.
06:32 You do wanna make sure you're lightly twisting it
06:34 so that it doesn't look too tight
06:36 and it looks a little bit more effortless and undone.
06:39 Again, make sure to feel that the hairstyle is secure
06:42 and in place, and also that you like the volume
06:44 and the structure of it all.
06:46 To finish it off, spray it with some hairspray
06:48 and you're good to go.
06:49 And that's it.
06:50 I think this is a classic prom hairstyle.
06:52 It's elegant and beautiful,
06:53 and will definitely go with any dress you're wearing.
