00:00 Hi, welcome back to another episode of Baker Make. I'm Angela Kopecky. Today I'm going
00:07 to be showing you how to make this 3D Converse Sneaker Cake. First what you need to do is
00:13 cut out a template. You need to make the top part wider than the bottom part. If you don't
00:19 have a Converse shoe or a sneaker, you can have a look on the internet and download a
00:23 template and just cut it out. What I've done here is I've baked a 9 x 13 inch rectangular
00:30 cake and I've just cut the top off and turned it around upside down. What we're going to
00:37 do is we're going to cut out three of these shapes. We'll just grab a knife and we'll
00:44 just cut around the template. I've got a little bit of extra cake here so I'm just going to
00:54 cut it out. Just like that. What you need to do now is you need to stack them on top
01:01 of each other and then mark a line around 6 cm from the back. Now what you're going
01:20 to do is you're going to start from the top part of that bottom layer and we're going
01:25 to work our way down to the bottom. Just cutting it down and we're going to sculpt that shape
01:32 out. Just cut it right down to that bottom layer. I'm just going to start shaving off
01:49 the sides to get that shape of the shoe. I've cut that template out from a cardboard board
01:56 and what we're going to do now is we're going to use some chocolate ganache or you can use
02:08 buttercream and we're just going to ice that board there so we can stick each layer on
02:13 the board. We'll start from the bottom layer and then we'll spread some ganache to fill
02:20 those layers there. We'll stick that second layer on. We'll do the same, we'll fill that
02:30 layer as well and we'll put the top part on there. Now we're going to ice around the top
02:41 and we're going to ice around the cake. Just spread that ganache or if you're using buttercream
02:48 just spread it out and then using a scraper we'll just even that out there. I've brushed
02:56 the cake in with some hot water and I've rolled out some white fondant and we're just going
03:04 to cut that down and it's going to go over that top part there. Just place it on the
03:10 top and then just take a blade and cut all the way around. I'm using a ribbon here to
03:17 measure that top part there and so I've rolled out some blue fondant and we're going to use
03:25 that ribbon there as a guide as to how much we need to cut. We're just going to cut that
03:33 on a curve and then cut that part up there on a curve as well. We're going to do the
03:40 same. We'll just take our piece and we'll just measure it on the cake to see if we need
03:46 to cut it down. Just place it there and then we can gauge obviously how much to cut from
03:53 there. So just cut the sides down and we'll just place it on the top there and just push
04:03 that down so it can stick. Take some paper towel and we're just going to put it on the
04:10 top there for that to dry in place. Now we're going to do the front part. So roll out some
04:19 white fondant and we'll just cut it down on the straight part there and then we'll just
04:29 place it on the front part adjoining to that blue section. We're just going to push it
04:36 down to the bottom and we'll just even that fondant out. We'll take a smoother and just
04:46 smooth it out there. Just cut it off the excess there with a pizza cutter. Now we're going
04:57 to take a blade and we're just going to cut down that section there so it's straight and
05:04 just carefully peel that off. Just even that up there and we'll just cut around that front
05:20 part and we'll do the same to the other side as well. Roll out some blue fondant. We'll
05:27 just get a pizza cutter and cut the sides off and we'll just cut it down the middle.
05:42 Now this is going to be for the sides of the cake. Now we're going to cut the sides off
05:49 and what you want to do is just measure approximately how much it needs to go on. So we'll just
05:56 cut that there as you can see on a curve and we'll just place it there on the side. It
06:05 needs to line up to that front white part. So we'll just smooth it out. Now we're going
06:18 to take a blade and we'll cut off that excess there to give it a nice even finish. Just
06:25 use your fingers to smooth it out there. I'm just using a smoother here so I'm just going
06:45 to cut it down in a straight line and just smooth it out with your fingers. Now grab
07:10 a pair of scissors and we're going to cut that top part off there. Take some tissue
07:16 paper and we'll just leave that to dry there. We'll do the same with the other side. Just
07:36 wrap it around to the back. Just take your scissors and cut that down there. Take some
07:43 more tissue paper so we can support that back section. We'll take a blade again and we'll
08:02 cut that down into a straight line and line it up at the front. Now what I'm doing here
08:09 is I'm using a straw. Using a tool or a skewer just make little indents all the way up for
08:17 the stitching section. We'll do that underneath as well all the way up to the top. Now we'll
08:26 do that underneath as well all the way up to the top. I've covered a 12" board here
08:33 with black fondant and I've put some ribbon around it as well. What I'm going to do is
08:43 use some royal icing to stick that cake onto the board. We'll just take a knife and we'll
08:51 just place it underneath the cake and we'll lift it up and position the cake on the board
08:57 there. Roll out some white fondant and using a ribbon tool or a pizza cutter we're going
09:04 to cut out two strips. This is going to be for the bottom section of the shoe. Now we're
09:13 going to use some sugar glue or water and place that around the bottom section on both
09:20 sides. We'll just start from the back there and we'll just place the bottom section on
09:40 the top. We'll just start from the back there and work our way all the way around to the
09:47 back part there. Now with our other white section we're going to cut that down thinner
09:56 than the other piece and we're going to stick that on top of the other part. Starting from
10:05 the back again and we'll work our way around to the front and then all the way around to
10:12 the back. Now cut a piece for the front and just using a knife we're going to make little
10:24 indents on an angle and again on the other angle. Now we're going to cut a piece for
10:31 the back. We're going to place this at the front section so just work your way around
10:38 to the other side. Roll out two pieces of black fondant and just cut them down into
10:50 a thin strip and we're going to glue that on from the front there and work our way around
10:58 to the back and all the way around to the other side. Chop that off there. Roll out
11:05 a piece of black fondant in a string and we'll just glue that on the top part there and that
11:15 can go all the way around as well. Roll out some grey fondant and just glue that on the
11:23 top. Roll out some grey fondant and we're just going to roll them into small balls and
11:30 place them in those little holes there. Just using a ball tool we're just going to push
11:37 down and make a little indent there and do that all the way up to the top there. Roll
11:50 out two pieces of white fondant and cut them down into little strips and these are going
11:56 to be for the lace on the top. So we'll cut them down and then just push, we'll squeeze
12:03 it at the end there and then we'll just place them on one from one side and you're going
12:10 to work your way from the bottom all the way up to the top. Now we're going to do the same
12:18 thing. Just place some sugar glue in that section and some in the center there. Just
12:25 cut it down and then squeeze it on the sides and place that down there. This is for the
12:41 top part so just squeeze it again and we'll just place it there and this lace is going
12:47 to go from the top and it's going to come down onto the board. So just chop it off there
12:54 and then just squeeze it out here and then just roll it so it gives it that end part
13:00 of the shoelace. I've cut out a circle here with a star and we're just going to stick
13:09 that on the side of the cake there on the top part. Just like that. So there we have
13:16 it, our beautiful 3D Converse Sneaker Shoe. You can see how easy it was to make so if
