00:15 Welcome to Mediain TV, back in this chronicle on the 28th edition of the Rabat International Book Fair,
00:22 which ended on Sunday, June 11.
00:25 Organized under the patronage of King Mohammed VI by the Ministry of Youth, Culture and Communication,
00:32 this edition has welcomed more than 200,000 visitors.
00:36 The opportunity for the Senegalese author Papa Dembambaye to present to the public his latest opus, "Count for Children".
00:45 "Count for Children" is not my first book.
00:49 I am used to writing counting books because of our Senegalese culture.
00:55 We are used to being with the family after dinner and grandfathers tell us stories.
01:02 This is what gave us the love of counting and that's what motivated me.
01:07 I said to myself, why not make a count and share it with, first of all, Moroccan children and sub-Saharan children.
01:15 I think that coming to Morocco, I did not de-peasate at all.
01:20 Because the Moroccan culture and the Senegalese culture have a lot of similarities.
01:26 So when I came to Morocco, I did not have any problems with that.
01:31 So what I do, I always feel a touch of Morocco.
01:36 So it's practically the same thing for me.
01:41 For the story, Papa Dembambaye was born in Senegal.
01:45 He left his teaching position to live the adventure in Morocco.
01:49 He was first attracted by the promises of employment in call centers,
01:53 a sector in full development in search of French speakers.
01:56 From his Moroccan pilgrimage, this quadrangular decided to write books.
02:02 Papa Dembambaye's choice was based on the moral lessons he carried about African society.
02:10 Since his first book, Papa Dembambaye has been publishing his books in Morocco.
02:16 Well, I wouldn't say it's easy, because I had the chance to meet a Moroccan editor,
02:26 called Driss Buzafreqa.
02:28 So when he saw my work, he liked it at first.
02:32 He offered me to publish it.
02:34 Since then, I have published five books in Morocco.
02:38 And so far, there has been no problem.
02:41 And in terms of language, it's true that there are many Moroccans who prefer to read in Arabic,
02:47 but still, there are many who read in French.
02:50 So it's not a problem for me.
02:52 Yes, I think I'm lucky.
02:55 All my books were well received by the Moroccan public.
03:00 So first of all, I know that Moroccans like to please their children.
03:05 And if they see the book, which is there, which is pretty, I don't know,
03:09 and which has illustrations that are very pretty, which has an important text,
03:14 because also, we must not forget that the African account is not only for entertainment,
03:19 but also for education.
03:21 So a parent of a student who sees all this, it makes him want to buy a book
03:25 and share it with his child.
03:31 During this 28th edition of the International Book Fair,
03:35 a gigantic editorial fund, composed of 120,000 titles and 2 million copies,
03:41 touching on different areas of knowledge, was exhibited.
03:44 A figure that represents 20% increase compared to the previous year.
03:49 The fair is characterized by a plethora of cultural activities.
03:53 221 activities were organized this year.
03:57 Conferences, debates, workshops, signatures of works,
04:01 to which 661 writers, intellectuals and poets, Moroccans and foreigners, took part.
04:06 The occasion for Papa Dembambé, a great defender of living together,
04:11 to enjoy with his audience his new adventure in Morocco, that of a writer.
04:16 Yes, it's true that there is one thing that I must confess.
04:23 When I was in Senegal, I had not thought of writing a book of my life.
04:28 But when I came to Morocco, I had the chance to visit many Moroccan cities.
04:33 And in each city I had a little story.
04:36 I said to myself, why not write all this?
04:40 But it was when I went to Tangier that it took shape.
04:44 And I said to myself, ah, I'm going to do this, a book.
04:47 It was in Tangier that I completed the book,
04:50 my first book called "The life of Senegalese in Morocco".
04:53 So with the story of the clandestine people who are there,
04:56 I was not there to try to go to Europe,
05:00 but it was just to see how my sub-Saharan brothers live.
05:06 And I did not really regret it.
05:09 So I learned a lot there.
05:16 And finally, this happy anniversary launched by its fans,
05:20 known under the name of ARMY, is intended for the South Korean group BTS.
05:25 Seoul has also given the send-off of a week of celebration
05:29 in honor of the 10th anniversary of the BTS K-pop group.
05:33 A series of special timbres revealed by the Korean post
05:37 being out of stock online,
05:39 the 120,000 lots available having only taken 3 hours to disappear
05:43 after being put up for sale on May 22.
05:46 BTS, which made its debut on June 13, 2013,
05:50 opened South Korean music to the general public,
05:53 raising billions of dollars
05:55 and becoming a global fan community.
