HOW TO MAKE A MARSHMALLOW CAKE

00:00 G'day, welcome to the Simple Cooking Channel.
00:03 Today I'm going to show you how I make a Marshmallow Cake.
00:08 This is so marshy, it is so mellow, this is awesome, so let's go.
00:24 Now for this get a large saucepan.
00:27 Pour in 3 cups of granulated sugar and about 3 tablespoons of unflavoured gelatin.
00:39 Then add about 2 cups, so it goes slightly over, 2 cups of cold water.
00:48 Just mix this together until it's combined well.
00:54 Now turn your heat on to anywhere from medium to high and just give this a stir every now
00:59 and then.
01:00 We want to bring this to a boil.
01:01 Now as you can see it's starting to boil, turn it right down to low and then we just
01:08 leave it for 10 minutes and do not stir it at all.
01:13 As you can see, this is why I said you need a big, big saucepan or pot.
01:19 This one is a 5 litre capacity so it's going to boil and bubble and froth not far from
01:26 the top.
01:27 So don't use a small or a medium one, you need a big one.
01:31 And it should just look like this for pretty much the whole 10 minutes.
01:35 Alright, now that's ready, turn the heat off and take this off the heat and let it sit
01:41 for about 10 minutes.
01:44 Get a large mixing bowl and pour the syrup in there once it's cooled.
01:57 Then add 1 tablespoon of vanilla extract, you can use a different extract if you want
02:02 a different flavour, and some food colouring.
02:09 It depends how vibrant you want the colour, you don't need that many.
02:14 Get a hand mixer and just beat this for as long as it takes for this to turn marshmallow-y.
02:22 Could take 5 or 10 minutes.
02:42 Now just pour it in.
02:52 That's done.
02:53 Now if you want to add a bit of colour, just put some hundreds and thousands over the top
02:58 or I think they're also called sprinkles.
03:04 So just leave this on the counter to set or chuck it in the fridge, make it really fast.
