00:00 Hi and welcome to our new series of Keep Calm and Bake.
00:02 I'm Sarah, this is Andrea and we're from the lifestyle blog peanutbutter.com.
00:07 To kick off our new season we've got a really spring-like recipe for you today, lemon yogurt
00:11 cake.
00:12 So it's a really easy recipe.
00:20 We're going to start with some caster sugar and some room temperature butter and we're
00:26 just going to cream these together.
00:33 Next we'll add two eggs one at a time, then the natural yogurt followed by the zest of
00:38 one lemon.
00:39 We're going to beat the mixture together until it's just combined.
00:42 I'm going to add in a teaspoon of bicarbonate of soda and a teaspoon of baking powder and
00:46 we're going to add in the flour.
00:47 We're going to mix until it's all combined.
00:50 Pour it into a loaf tin that we have greased with some butter.
00:55 We'll just even the surface out.
00:57 So we're going to put this in the oven for 25 minutes at 180.
01:01 So we've taken our lemon cake out of the oven and it's just coming down to room temperature
01:05 a little bit.
01:06 So in the meantime we'll get on with our lemon syrup.
01:08 Yeah, sure.
01:09 So we've got 50 grams of caster sugar and we've got the juice of a lemon and we're just
01:14 going to swirl it around to mix it.
01:19 While that's happening we're just going to skewer a few holes in our cake just so when
01:24 we pour the liquid over it really absorbs.
01:28 The syrup is ready to go so we're going to pour it over the cake.
