00:00 Hey guys, it's Jen from From Head to Toe. I'm going to do a basic tutorial on how I apply nail polish.
00:05 And this is what I do every single time I apply my polish.
00:09 I start off using a base coat. This is Seche Natural.
00:12 I just apply like one coat of that on every nail.
00:17 This stuff, I mean you can use different base coats, but this dries kind of matte without, you know, too much color or anything like that.
00:29 But base coats are really good at helping your nails not to get stained and it helps your polish to last longer as well.
00:36 Then by the time I'm done putting the base coat on my second hand, it's usually dry enough that I can apply my polish.
00:45 Today I'm going to be using Who Needs a Prince by OPI.
00:48 So I put it upside down. I know you can't see very well.
00:53 And I'll just twist it in my fingers to sort of shake the polish without giving it bubbles.
01:00 This one actually has a wider brush. See how it's thinner on the side?
01:05 And I actually think that's kind of nice.
01:09 So what I do is I'll dip the polish, wipe one side, and then use the more polished side face down on the nail.
01:19 I go once down the middle, and then once on each side.
01:25 And then maybe if it's too streaky, once down the middle again.
01:29 Depending on how thick your polish is, you might want to do two or three coats for most.
01:42 Sometimes it takes more or less than that.
01:44 But my good default number is three coats.
01:52 It might be a little bit more wet than the first layer, so I'm going to wait a few minutes.
01:59 Like maybe one minute.
02:01 If I can feel my nail, like on the back of my hand, and there's no squeaky feeling, then you know it's dry enough.
02:10 This is after three coats.
02:16 As you can see, it's still a little bit sheer.
02:19 Normally I would use another layer, but I'm going to be doing some nail art on top of this, so I'm not really too concerned this time.
02:29 And I'm sure I've gotten better with experience.
02:32 For the final layer, I'm going to be using Sesh Vite as my top coat.
02:37 And it's my favorite one.
02:40 And before it's completely dry, I actually put this on.
02:43 Now this top coat is extra goopy.
02:46 So I actually layer it on pretty thick.
02:50 I'll just lightly swipe it down the side, and then lay it on really thick.
02:55 Running it along the edge of your nail, it's called wrapping the tips.
03:06 That'll also help the polish not to like pull back and have it last longer as well.
03:13 So that's it.
03:26 That's all I do.
03:30 This actually makes it dry super super fast.
03:33 So within about, I don't know, a minute or so?
03:38 Yeah.
03:39 It's already okay to touch.
03:42 It's my favorite stuff, and it makes it super shiny and last longer.
03:47 So yep, that's how I apply my nail polish.
