00:03 [MUSIC PLAYING]
00:30 You begin with the sevens, especially in my case,
00:34 or any cards you like, on the top of the pack.
00:38 Here's how the turnover pop moves.
00:41 You push over the top card.
00:44 My left thumb now slides out just
00:49 so it creeps over the edge.
00:51 This is where the action comes in.
00:53 It's a little hard to do slow, but I
00:58 like to throw in a snap at that same moment
01:01 that the card turns over.
01:03 That's the gesture.
01:04 That's the action.
01:05 All you have to do is try it at a high speed, a low speed,
01:09 various tempos to get the feeling for it to kick over.
01:14 Too little pressure, of course, it doesn't jump.
01:16 Too much, it can go absolutely crazy.
01:23 Do that four times, and you will have your great treasure.
01:28 Are you ready?
01:38 Now it's time for Jerry's Lucky Sevens.
01:42 Here we go.
01:45 Here they are, diamonds, hearts, clubs, and spades.
01:49 I'd like you to just think of one of those cards.
01:53 Yeah, I get the strongest impression
01:54 you're thinking of the seven of diamonds.
01:57 Take a peek.
01:58 There's one, two, three, four cards here.
02:01 One stands out in the crowd.
02:03 That is the seven of diamonds.
02:05 Look at that.
02:06 That's the red hot card.
02:08 But wait a minute.
02:09 Maybe you weren't thinking of that one at all.
02:11 Maybe it was the seven of hearts.
02:13 If so, you see there's one, two, three, four cards.
02:18 And there it is, the seven of hearts.
02:21 However, I know some of you are thinking of the seven of clubs.
02:27 Me too.
02:28 You see, the seven of clubs really
02:30 knows how to stand out in the crowd.
02:34 I have one, two, three blue-backed cards.
02:39 And there it is, the one in the crowd, the seven of clubs.
02:43 But what about our last card?
02:45 There is one remaining, of course.
02:47 That's the seven of spades.
02:49 You know, it's interesting because that card really
02:52 doesn't stand out in the crowd.
02:54 Not unless I make sure all these others are completely red.
03:00 Look at that.
03:01 One, two, and three.
03:04 That card does stand out.
03:06 You know, I can't stand to have all my red hot sevens,
03:10 my lucky sevens, different.
03:13 So if I give one little wiggle like that, there they are.
03:16 One, two, three, and four.
03:20 I call those Jerry's Lucky Sevens.
03:23 Here it is, the explanation for Jerry's Lucky Sevens.
03:35 Of course, I use the blue deck of cards.
03:39 And I use these lucky sevens.
03:42 These are the ones with red backs.
03:44 No doubt about that.
03:46 Take a look at the order-- spades, clubs, hearts,
03:49 and diamonds.
03:51 This is important in a moment.
03:53 The actual sevens from this blue deck,
03:55 I'm going to discard three of them, these three right here.
03:58 And I'm going to keep the seven of spades.
04:01 So let's get rid of those for the rest of my life.
04:05 Excellent.
04:06 Now, this blue-backed seven of spades
04:09 goes right on the top of the deck.
04:11 And these sevens are going to go here
04:14 toward the face of the deck.
04:16 In other words, we'll do it this way.
04:18 We'll put, say, the diamond on the face, about three or four
04:22 cards down the seven of hearts, three or four cards
04:24 down the seven of clubs, and three or four cards
04:27 down the seven of spades.
04:29 Remember, those are the red-backed ones.
04:33 You can now begin in this presentation
04:35 by spreading out most of the deck
04:37 casually between the hands, showing a blue-backed deck.
04:41 This, psychologically, without being open and trying
04:46 to tell your audience, it allows the audience to see,
04:48 of course, you just have blue cards.
04:50 In fact, you now say, let's take a look at my lucky sevens.
04:55 I turn the pack over.
04:56 Hey, there's one.
04:58 Drop it onto the table.
04:59 Be sure you don't accidentally flash that back.
05:02 That's very important.
05:04 Now, oh, hey, there's a third one.
05:06 A third one and a fourth one.
05:09 There's the fourth one.
05:11 Yep, four of my lucky sevens.
05:14 The deck goes face down into the left hand.
05:17 You now reverse these, making sure
05:21 that they are in spades, clubs, hearts, diamonds,
05:24 or at least black and red.
05:27 The seven of spades is here.
05:29 You are now going to add a card to the back of this packet.
05:32 You are going to add that card right there.
05:35 As I am displaying these, my left hand
05:39 pushes that card off slightly and gets a left little finger
05:43 break under that card.
05:46 From the front of the pack, there
05:47 is no split shown whatsoever.
05:51 As I have displayed these, I square them
05:53 to the top of the pack, and I pick up that extra card.
05:58 There it is, hidden underneath.
06:00 Audience believes I have the four sevens in my hand.
06:04 I say, we'll discard the rest of the pack for a moment.
06:07 You place that to the side.
06:09 You are now holding just a small group of cards.
06:12 And you want to make sure that you keep these cards squared
06:15 in your hands as you hold them, because you're
06:17 going to have one card, which is held.
06:20 It's two, but it's supposed to be held as one.
06:24 This is the arrangement.
06:27 I thumb off, holding in bittle grip from above.
06:30 One, two, three, and the last two are held as one.
06:37 These are my lucky sevens.
06:39 These two and this one are going to be picked up as two cards
06:44 and placed in between the two red ones as follows.
06:49 I say I give them a twist.
06:51 Now, as I thumb these off, one, two, three, and four,
06:57 you'll notice a blue back appears as if a card
07:01 has turned face down.
07:03 In reality, that card that has apparently turned face down
07:07 is hiding safely under this card in my hand, my right hand,
07:13 controlled in the bittle grip.
07:15 You say, look, the first one, the seven of diamonds,
07:17 has turned face down.
07:19 The next card that will end up turning over
07:21 is this one right over here, the seven of hearts.
07:25 We square these cards up, and now you
07:27 are going to do what is called an Ascanio spread,
07:30 or at least a version of it.
07:33 To show these cards all face up, my left fingers underneath here
07:38 pull off the back card, the heart.
07:40 My thumb pulls off the club from above.
07:43 My right hand is holding this packet.
07:47 As one goes off the face, and now these fingers here
07:52 from underneath are going to pull away that one spade.
07:56 This is my double card.
07:58 My right hand is always holding the double.
08:01 All of the cards are face up.
08:02 You'll notice I don't change their order at this point.
08:04 I just square them back up.
08:07 I thumb off one, two, three, making note of the fact
08:13 that the heart, the seven of hearts, has turned over.
08:17 I square them up.
08:20 You can show your Ascanio one, two, three.
08:24 Make sure you keep these two cards squared over here.
08:27 Don't let them come apart.
08:28 In fact, in performance, you would
08:30 keep these at a steep angle down so your audience are
08:34 looking straight down on these.
08:36 Don't tip them back so you can see what's happening.
08:39 Tip them forward so your audience sees exactly what
08:42 you want them to see.
08:44 Square them up.
08:46 Now the black ones turn over.
08:48 Thumb off one, two, three, four.
08:52 The club has turned over.
08:55 Now at this point, I don't do the Ascanio.
08:58 I just square them up.
09:00 You've done it twice and shown that they've come back all
09:02 face up suddenly.
09:04 But now let's just breeze into the finish.
09:07 Remember this seven of spades.
09:08 That's the one at the back of the pack.
09:10 That is the last card to turn over.
09:14 The seven of spades turns over last.
09:16 Now what's really good about this is, remember,
09:18 that's actually a blue-backed seven of spades
09:21 that we stole away.
09:23 Your double card goes to the very back of the pack.
09:30 And you now turn over.
09:31 There it is, the seven of spades.
09:35 This is the position of the cards that I have in my hand.
09:38 Notice that this other seven of spades, the actual
09:40 red-backed one, is at the back of the pack.
09:44 You have just now turned over, proven, look, there it is, the
09:48 last card to turn over, the seven of spades.
09:52 Remember, the audience is seeing blue-backs time and
09:55 time and time again.
09:56 They believe these are all blue-backed cards.
10:01 As I do the final move on this, I'm going to take that
10:04 blue-backed seven.
10:05 And as I gesture with it, I buckle just slightly.
10:09 With my index finger, I buckle so that this card, this seven
10:14 of spades, gets a break.
10:15 This is clean on the front, but it breaks away at the back.
10:20 Because as I gesture here and I buckle that card, this seven
10:23 of spades, the blue one, goes into this little space.
10:29 Now it's almost done, except for all the shouting.
10:33 I do one last twist, if you like.
10:35 And now you thumb off one, two, three, and four.
10:40 But wait, apparently nothing has happened on the face.
10:43 That's why now I square these cards up, I turn them over,
10:48 and you can display them in a couple of ways.
10:50 Just a push, one, two, three, four, keeping these last two
10:54 squared as one.
10:58 Or you can deal them to the table.
11:01 One, two, three, and the last two go right down like that
11:10 onto the table.
11:12 The audience sees just four cards.
11:16 There is the climactic finish to the change of Jerry's Lucky
11:21 Sevens.
11:24 [MUSIC PLAYING]
11:43 This is an excellent method for switching four
11:46 cards for four cards.
11:49 In this case, of course, we're going to use my special
11:51 sevens here and the aces.
11:54 The sevens go on the bottom of the pack.
11:58 I'm going to hold a break with my thumb like this.
12:02 You can then transfer that break from hand to hand using
12:07 a little finger break, and then back to the thumb, of
12:11 course.
12:13 We'll take a couple of views at this from a few different
12:15 angles, of course, a couple different angles.
12:18 These aces are shown on the table.
12:21 I'm holding the cards, four cards broken
12:24 away at the bottom.
12:26 I transfer from hand to hand the aces.
12:30 These are now turned over and even flashed once
12:33 again, if you like.
12:34 Now, as this hand comes across and under the pack, you are
12:37 actually going to shoot these aces right into your lap, just
12:42 like that.
12:45 And of course, they are no longer there.
12:48 At the moment they get shot into your lap is the moment
12:50 that the pack goes on top.
12:54 You then spread these cards out.
12:56 These are apparently the aces.
12:59 And now you turn them over, and of course, you have
13:00 effected an instantaneous switch.
13:05 Let's do it without the pack of cards in my hand.
13:09 The deck, which is away for a moment, this is on the bottom
13:14 of the pack.
13:16 I'm holding the whole deck with these at the bottom.
13:19 As my hand covers and they come together briefly, this is
13:24 when those cards, the aces, get tossed into my lap.
13:27 Hard to see it from this angle.
13:29 The pack goes to the side, and now I can reveal these.
13:32 Look at the hand I was dealt by my
13:42 friends in a poker game.
13:43 They thought they'd see if they could get my goat.
13:47 Look at this, if you would.
13:49 Joker, joker, joker, joker.
13:53 Now, you know it's nice to have some jokers in your hand in a
13:55 poker game, but not five of them.
13:59 I faced up to this challenge.
14:01 The game we were playing was stud poker.
14:04 Now, in stud poker, they always deal one card face down
14:08 on the table.
14:10 And then the rest are face up.
14:12 Watch as my luck turns, and so do the cards.
14:16 The first one turned.
14:18 The second one turned.
14:20 That's two now up and two down.
14:25 And now the third one, just like that.
14:29 One, two, and three.
14:32 Last but not least.
14:34 You know, when you're playing poker, the best
14:36 hand is four of a kind.
14:38 In fact, my favorites are Jerry's lucky sevens.
14:43 What do you know about that?
14:44 By the way, ace, high.
14:50 Jerry's lucky sevens.
14:51 So let's take a look at the explanation of Jerry's luck
15:03 takes a turn.
15:05 First, what do we have?
15:07 Let me show you.
15:09 I have one joker.
15:10 It is normal.
15:14 I have two jokers that I have glued sevens to the back of.
15:20 And of course, my other two regular sevens
15:27 and an ace of spades.
15:30 The order of the setup is ace of spades
15:32 face down in the palm of my left hand,
15:35 two regular sevens face down, the two gimmicked ones,
15:41 sevens face down, and the last ungimmicked joker face up.
15:51 Now looking over my shoulder, we're
15:54 going to do a Hammond count.
15:57 You'll get a good view of it from this backside.
15:59 Here's what happens.
16:00 This grip is known as the Biddle grip,
16:03 named after the inventor Elmer Biddle.
16:07 I'm holding it at these ends.
16:10 My left thumb draws the card off the face into my left hand,
16:16 as you can see.
16:17 The left thumb comes back and draws off
16:19 the next card, which is one of your gimmicked cards.
16:24 Now as I am apparently going to draw off this next card,
16:29 I'm actually going to switch the packets.
16:32 I will switch them.
16:34 As my thumb comes across, these cards in the left hand
16:38 are going to go back underneath and are
16:42 grasped by my ring finger at the front, my thumb at the back.
16:49 So as they come over, they go underneath,
16:52 passing beyond this packet, are grasped,
16:55 as I mentioned, just like that.
16:57 And this thumb pinches them right up here,
17:01 as if drawing off the third card.
17:04 You continue drawing off the fourth and apparently the fifth.
17:09 Let me continue and do that again.
17:11 That's one, two, switch, four, and five.
17:20 So you have apparently shown five cards, just like that.
17:28 Now there is a bit of a rhythm to this.
17:30 That's one, two, three, four, and five, the last two.
17:37 Experiment with that on your own.
17:39 Now I turn over the top card face down,
17:43 and it goes underneath.
17:46 Remember, the patter line that I use
17:48 can be seen in the presentation of this.
17:52 You now grasp them, because I'm going
17:54 to do a glide held at the long ends like this.
18:00 It turns face up, and as my hand turns over,
18:05 I'm going to draw this card back.
18:08 I'm going to draw that joker back.
18:13 Remember, it's done in one action.
18:16 At the same time this turns, that's
18:18 when I draw the card back.
18:19 You don't do it in two actions like this, here, here.
18:26 The audience will see that action.
18:28 It's all done in one.
18:29 You show and turn.
18:33 This left hand, of course, this card is exposed.
18:37 Your left hand comes in and draws the ace out.
18:41 Now to keep from this card slithering out,
18:44 you will do as follows.
18:46 Remember what I mentioned from the front.
18:48 This index finger seems to hang right in there at the corner.
18:53 That helps keep anything from going wrong here.
18:56 I now draw out that ace.
18:59 Now see, there's another possibility.
19:04 You could pull away two and get a seven.
19:06 So practice this so it doesn't happen,
19:09 because you want to get that ace from underneath.
19:14 So when I turn this over, that's when
19:16 that ace will be exposed.
19:19 My index finger on the corner allows that card to come out.
19:24 And apparently, I have just placed a joker face down
19:26 on the table.
19:28 Now you are going to use an Elmslie count
19:34 and count these cards out.
19:37 The Elmslie count will show one card face down.
19:42 This is an underground Elmslie, because the last card
19:47 in my hand is going to go underneath, or underground.
19:53 That shows one back.
19:55 I count again.
19:56 That's two.
20:01 Two backs they've seen.
20:03 Now here's what happens.
20:04 You push off one and two.
20:10 This last will be two cards that you need to hold together.
20:15 This display will show two cards face up and two cards face down.
20:22 Square them back up.
20:25 Perform your Elmslie count again.
20:28 That now shows apparently three backs.
20:31 And you're going to push off this one, two.
20:35 Now you're going to have to do the buckle.
20:37 And here's how it looks from over my shoulder.
20:40 This index finger at the front underneath
20:44 squeezes on this card like this.
20:49 And it buckles at the back.
20:50 That way, these fingers of my right hand
20:53 can reach into that little space and hold
20:57 on to that group of cards.
21:01 So the buckle is one, push, two, buckle.
21:07 This is your number of cards here.
21:12 Bang.
21:12 Now you show, of course, three are face down and one is face up.
21:16 Don't linger there.
21:17 Just continue on.
21:18 Now you Elmslie count one more time.
21:21 And apparently all the cards have turned face down.
21:25 Here's the situation I'm actually in.
21:29 Here's what it looks like from the other side.
21:31 I now push this card forward, turn this pack over.
21:42 There goes one seven.
21:46 That's your second one on the table.
21:48 Those are the two gimmicked cards.
21:51 Your third one is a single card, of course.
21:54 And the last one is two cards, a joker hidden behind it.
21:58 And remember as I explained, I'm going to hold the cards.
22:02 This is how it looks from the backside, index finger
22:05 in the middle.
22:06 Set those two cards down.
22:08 The last part to touch will be this fingernail.
22:13 So it goes to the table.
22:15 That's when I let go.
22:16 My hand lifts up.
22:18 Those two will remain very squared on the table.
22:22 That's my lucky sevens, four of a kind, ace high.
22:28 And remember, if you're worried about that edge from the front,
22:31 just drop that ace covering that up.
22:34 [MUSIC PLAYING]
22:38 [MUSIC PLAYING]
22:41 [MUSIC PLAYING]
22:45 [MUSIC PLAYING]
22:48 [MUSIC PLAYING]
22:52 [MUSIC PLAYING]
22:55 [MUSIC PLAYING]
22:59 [MUSIC PLAYING]
23:02 [MUSIC PLAYING]
23:06 [MUSIC PLAYING]
23:09 [MUSIC PLAYING]
23:12 [MUSIC PLAYING]
23:16 [MUSIC PLAYING]
23:19 [MUSIC PLAYING]
23:23 [MUSIC PLAYING]
23:26 [MUSIC PLAYING]
23:30 [MUSIC PLAYING]
23:34 [MUSIC PLAYING]
23:38 [MUSIC PLAYING]
23:42 [MUSIC PLAYING]
23:46 [MUSIC PLAYING]
23:51 [MUSIC PLAYING]
23:54 [MUSIC PLAYING]
23:58 [MUSIC PLAYING]
24:02 [MUSIC PLAYING]
24:06 [MUSIC PLAYING]
24:10 [MUSIC PLAYING]
24:14 [MUSIC PLAYING]
24:19 [MUSIC PLAYING]
24:22 [MUSIC PLAYING]
24:26 [MUSIC PLAYING]
24:30 [MUSIC PLAYING]
24:34 Now, the four red back sevens go underneath the face card of the pack.
24:44 Remember, it doesn't matter what this card is.
24:47 The purpose is just to hide those first red back sevens.
24:52 Now, these blue back sevens, of course--
24:55 and remember, try to keep them in a same sequential order.
25:00 This is an important aspect.
25:03 So, these blue back sevens are now on the face of the pack.
25:08 The pack is face down.
25:10 That's what you're looking at on the bottom.
25:14 You can casually spread the cards between your hands
25:17 to just casually show the pack, "Ladies and gentlemen, a pack of cards."
25:22 You're ready now for the four-ton pop-out move.
25:26 And, of course, from this back side, remember, you peel down one card,
25:30 and the two packets go together as this,
25:33 and now each one of those cards pops out.
25:38 You will continue this with all four of the cards.
25:42 Pop one card down as shown.
25:46 The second one is made to appear.
25:49 The third one.
25:52 And the fourth one.
25:56 Replace the right-hand pack underneath.
26:01 Remember, when you started, you pulled it out.
26:04 Since I am right-handed, it went on top,
26:06 and this is when I allow that card to pop down for the pop-out move.
26:10 Once you have done this for each of the sevens,
26:13 this right-hand pack needs to go underneath where it started
26:17 so that you're in the proper order.
26:19 Of course, now you show the sevens your revelation, first revelation.
26:27 You can fan out the pack as long as you keep this down low here.
26:32 The pack now goes face up.
26:35 Fan them out, making sure, of course, you keep this hidden.
26:41 The sevens go into the fanned pack as such.
26:49 Make sure that you put them in in a nice, neat order so it looks good.
26:54 Turn this over. Remember, they get a visual of the blue backs.
27:00 Square this up. Everything goes into the pack.
27:03 You make your magic pass, a few words, whatever you like.
27:07 You are now ready for the Houdini color change.
27:10 You are causing the eight, the sevens, to assemble on the face of the pack.
27:16 Remember, the red-backed sevens are hiding here,
27:19 so you now go into the color change.
27:22 It looks as though those sevens are metamorphosing,
27:27 appearing, whatever you want to call it, right on the pack, on the face,
27:33 each one from underneath.
27:35 Be sure, of course, and you will be able to look at the details of this Houdini color change.
27:41 Each one of these is made to appear one at a time, just like that.
27:51 A nice couple of touches on this is, of course,
27:54 when you move your hand back and let them see it,
27:57 bring your hand to the side, a quick flash of the empty hand.
28:01 Don't say an empty hand, but now your fingers move in on the card.
28:05 You slide this back. You can give it a little rub.
28:09 And remember the shutter action of the fingers opening.
28:14 That's the third. One more to go.
28:17 You can pick up the card on the face,
28:20 two doing a double lift here, a quick flash like this.
28:25 That hides the fact that there's no seven there, but watch.
28:29 Somewhere in the pack now.
28:31 You cover the seven, a little slide back, of course.
28:37 You move in, and the last one makes its appearance.
28:41 These cards are now dealt onto the table.
28:43 The rest of the pack is turned over, face down, and fanned.
28:49 The sevens go in.
28:53 And now for the final revelation.
28:57 Turn that pack over, and there are those sudden red-hot packs.
29:05 Square this up. Remember, when you fan this and turn it over,
29:08 pull those sevens out quickly, because, of course, there are sevens in the pack.
29:13 But the audience's attention will be on those cards.
29:17 Turn it over, you pop them out, keep moving forward.
29:22 There are your sevens.
29:27 Accept your deserved applause.
29:31 [music]
29:40 Well, I know the whole time you've probably been wondering,
29:43 which one of these is my lucky seven, of all the four sevens that is.
29:48 Because, you see, I could choose the seven of spades, the clubs, the hearts, or the diamonds.
29:55 Let's take a look at the qualities of each of these.
29:58 By the way, they do seem to be drowning in red ink, don't they?
30:03 But there is one card that stands out in the crowd.
30:05 You see, he's got a nice big blue back with a big circle on it.
30:09 If you liked and thought of the seven of diamonds, that would be a good choice.
30:14 But that's not my favorite card.
30:16 It could be the seven of hearts that you liked.
30:20 Let's take a peek from the back side.
30:22 You see, there is one card that really stands out in the crowd.
30:25 That one has a blue back as well.
30:27 But wait, what happened to that big circle?
30:30 That's okay. If you like the seven of hearts, that's a good choice, but not my favorite.
30:35 How about the seven of spades? There's another good choice.
30:39 You see, that one really stands out on the back as well.
30:42 Different from the other three.
30:47 But I must say it's not the seven of spades that's my favorite.
30:52 In fact, the one remaining card is the one I like and is my favorite.
30:57 The seven of clubs.
30:59 You see, it's the only card with a red back.
31:03 Wait a minute. No, you are right. I speak the truth.
31:07 See, there's one, two, three, four cards.
31:11 That's the only one card with a red back in the entire group.
31:16 My favorite, the seven of clubs.
31:21 By the way, you've seen an awful lot of different backs here today.
31:24 There's the seven of hearts.
31:26 There's the seven of diamonds.
31:28 There's the seven of spades.
31:30 And by the way, that one right there, as you can see, that's the only card with a red back.
31:38 My favorite, the seven of clubs.
31:44 From my point of view, you saw it from the front a moment ago.
31:55 Of course, we are in this position.
32:00 My homemade red-blue double backer.
32:03 The red seven of clubs.
32:06 The blue-backed seven of spades.
32:08 The two black ones are here.
32:10 And then these are, of course, the two red ones.
32:14 To begin, this is how you start.
32:17 And then you place these two to the back of the pack.
32:21 Let's explain that SEVA count.
32:25 Here's what's happening.
32:27 It's almost like an Elmslie count.
32:29 I'm holding the cards in the same position that I use on the Elmslie, in the mechanics grip.
32:35 And I push off with this thumb, helped by that index finger, one single card.
32:41 That's one.
32:43 You are looking at the faces of these cards.
32:46 Each of the sevens will be seen individually.
32:49 That's the point of this count.
32:51 Seven of spades.
32:53 Now as I push off the club, I'm pushing everything off above the bottom-most card.
33:02 As this spade comes underneath, it will stick into these fingers right here, like in the Elmslie count.
33:10 And I take off this packet of cards, pinching it right there.
33:14 Clubs.
33:17 Now as I come back to apparently take the diamond off, you see the spade is hiding underneath it.
33:22 So, these cards come all together, and they just become one quick group,
33:30 and then I immediately push off with my thumb everything, except the bottom-most card.
33:37 And there is the heart.
33:42 Watch. Spades, clubs, diamonds, and hearts.
33:52 You can practice this over and over again, because you just take those two cards and put them back at the back of the pack.
33:59 Did that make sense? I hope so.
34:01 Spades, that's a single card. Now I'm pushing off everything above the diamond.
34:06 The spade goes back underneath, and I take off that small pack.
34:11 Now as I come back for the diamond, I bring everything together, and I immediately push everything off,
34:17 holding back that bottom-most card, which is the heart.
34:21 Your audience has seen all four suits.
34:25 And now you ask them to think of one.
34:28 You know I can't make up my mind.
34:32 If you were thinking of the seven of hearts, and maybe I am,
34:38 you now turn this over and you Elmsley Count.
34:41 Remember, you're Elmsley Counting five cards.
34:45 Your audience will see a red. As you squeeze this off, this is a pack of three cards.
34:52 There's another red pack, or a second apparent red card.
34:57 There is now the back of the heart.
35:02 And you leave that card forward, jogged forward, protruding.
35:07 And now you would turn that over and show the seven of hearts.
35:12 You turn the whole pack face up.
35:15 Now you exchange the diamond for the heart.
35:22 Elmsley Count again. Now that that seven of diamonds is on the face,
35:28 you will see this back, and apparently three other red backs.
35:33 Reveal and show the seven of diamonds.
35:38 Straighten the whole thing out. Push off. Remember, these are two cards here.
35:43 And you're pushing off that seven of spades now onto the face of the group.
35:49 You could think of the seven of spades.
35:51 Turn the whole group over. Elmsley Count.
35:55 Now the audience sees a blue backed card.
36:00 Draw this out and place it on the table. The seven of spades.
36:05 Here now you are going to do the count of these cards, showing them as apparently two red.
36:11 You thumb off one. This is that Hammond count.
36:15 Remember, this finger over here is going to grab this card, and so will the thumb.
36:20 This is thumbed off one, two, three.
36:27 You don't necessarily count them, but you would just say these three are red,
36:33 and there is the blue one. The seven of spades.
36:39 Now you're going to do a double lift, and you want to keep a little break back here under that top card.
36:45 You now bring the seven of spades, pick those two up, and just flip them over.
36:51 I hold onto them with my fingers, with a little down pressure of this index finger in the middle.
36:57 Bring them over, pinning them down, holding them with these fingers, and then just flip it over.
37:05 By doing that double lift at this point, it frees up from this side the seven of clubs.
37:13 And I tell my audience, "You know, that's my favorite card in the group, the seven of clubs."
37:20 Because, you see, he's the only red one in the group.
37:25 Take a look. Now I turn it over, and I Elmslie count.
37:30 The audience now sees three blue bicycle backs, and this one red, my seven of clubs.
37:38 I drop him to the table, face down is probably best, so they can see red,
37:44 and now contrast that against that three count, showing blue.
37:49 Keep a little finger break here under this top card.
37:53 Turn the seven of clubs over, you pick up a double lift, and turn it face down,
37:59 and then once again they see the red back.
38:02 Remember, this is the red back of our red-blue double-backed card.
38:07 You are now ready for the finish.
38:09 You turn the whole pack up, thumb off one single card,
38:13 showing that that has the big circle, and that definitely is a single card.
38:19 The seven of hearts, which is a blue card.
38:22 The seven of spades.
38:25 And last but not least, this card, which is actually two.
38:30 And when I drop this on here, I can thumb that off,
38:34 because you see that's the blue back of that red-blue double-backer,
38:38 perfectly hidden on top of that pack.
38:41 The only red card there.
38:44 I now deal them out onto the table.
38:48 My seven of clubs forward,
38:51 and here these are,
38:53 one,
38:55 two,
38:57 and three.
38:59 [music]
39:07 [music]
39:12 [music]
39:17 [music]
39:23 [music]
39:29 [music]
39:35 [music]
39:41 [music]
39:46 [music]
39:52 All right, ladies and gentlemen, here is the ultimate secret
40:00 so when you want to drive your friends, as well as magician friends,
40:05 absolutely nuts.
40:07 This is the inside work.
40:09 First off, of course, I use my gold half-dollar.
40:14 I wish it were solid gold,
40:16 but you can't have everything.
40:18 I also use these blue-backed sevens,
40:23 and the deck.
40:25 Here's the setup.
40:26 You see I have two coins.
40:28 You can, of course, use regular halves, you can use quarters in a pinch.
40:32 And, of course, I have my special red sevens.
40:37 These, of course, you're going to place in the same order as these.
40:43 The deck is face down on the table.
40:47 These sevens are face up.
40:51 And now you take one of these coins, drop it right there.
40:58 You now have one extra card from the deck, and that goes on top.
41:04 You begin with these cards face down.
41:09 You're now ready to perform.
41:11 Begin by giving the deck a ribbon spread, carefully, across the table.
41:17 Remember, you have some very important things here you do not want to see,
41:23 have your audience see.
41:25 Remember that.
41:26 Those are right there.
41:28 These cards are now turned face up.
41:33 There's our display of the sevens.
41:35 These go into the pack face up.
41:40 Instantaneously, as you watched earlier on the presentation,
41:45 these cards are magically going to land right face up on the top of the deck.
41:50 You now square these carefully.
41:53 Remember, there's a coin right here in the center,
41:55 so when you grab these, you push with your index finger right here.
42:00 And most importantly, remember, it's the fingernail that you want touching the top there.
42:06 Because when you square these and lift your hand,
42:10 the last part of the finger touching that card is the nail.
42:14 That way the card doesn't stick to your finger.
42:17 You now square these up and push the sevens into the deck.
42:22 This coin is placed on the top,
42:28 matching the attitude how this coin was placed.
42:32 So the face of the coin is dropped right here.
42:36 You are now ready for the magical moment.
42:40 I'm going to cover my hands over the pack a couple of times,
42:44 and I'm going to grab this top card with the coin.
42:48 I'm going to grab it between this finger and this thumb.
42:52 That happens under the cover of my left hand.
42:56 My right hand comes in, picks this card off,
43:00 and instantly moves to the right like this in a quick sweeping motion.
43:07 Now, how you get rid of this card is you need to be seated at a table when this happens,
43:14 because you are going to lap that card and that coin.
43:19 In other words, you're going to drop them into your lap.
43:22 So as your hands make a sweeping motion,
43:29 and you pick that card up, it's going to sweep back,
43:33 and this is going to be dropped right into your lap.
43:37 Let's take a good close look at how we pick this up.
43:47 As I mentioned, this finger and this thumb are going to pick up,
43:51 pinching on the sides, just like this.
43:54 So you might want to give that card just a slight bend.
44:06 There is the change. This gets dropped off into the lap secretly,
44:11 and you will have ample misdirection because this surprise is incredible.
44:15 Toss the coin out onto the table.
44:19 Deal off the sevens, one, two, three, and four.
44:24 Incredible surprise. Scoop these up,
44:28 and remember to finish by spreading them and showing your red-hot sevens on the backs.
