The Tour de France 2023 will hold its Grand Départ in the Basque Country, with a first stage in Bilbao on 1st July, and will finish in Paris on 23rd July, on completion of a 3,404-km route that will tackle the difficult slopes of the country’s five mountain ranges. The battle for the Yellow Jersey will witness a decisive and emotional episode on the Puy de Dôme, where a stage finish will be held 35 years after the victory of Denmark’s Johnny Weltz. The return to this legendary climb will be accompanied by the rise in importance of sites that will mark the Tours of the future, such as the Grand Colombier or the Col de la Loze. The sole time-trial on the Tour de France in 2023 will take place over 22 kilometres between Passy and the Combloux ski resort in Haute-Savoie. The sprinters will also have the opportunity to express themselves on finishes in Bordeaux, Limoges, Moulins, before the grand finale on the Champs-Elysées. 00:14 - Yeah, it was a really easy stage.

00:17 I think everybody wants to save legs

00:19 for the Pyrenees tomorrow and the day after.

00:21 Yeah, in the final kilometer entering the circuit,

00:25 I also hear some crashes around me,

00:28 so I hope everybody is okay and safe.

00:32 But it was a bit of a hectic final

00:35 with the turns in the end.

00:38 And I lost my team as well.

00:40 But in the final straight, I found my Giovan Pol again,

00:43 and he did an amazing pull to get me to victory.

00:47 But my legs were cramping, and Caleb was coming close.

00:52 - Because sprinting on a circuit like this,

00:54 a motorsport circuit, is completely different.

00:58 - Yeah, it's a nice finish,

01:00 but I thought it would be a bit more safe as wide roads,

01:04 but the turns were also tricky,

01:07 and going full gas in the turn.

01:10 So luckily the tires were good enough to don't slip away.

01:14 But yeah, it was a nice finish,

01:17 and just hope everybody crashes okay.

01:20 - You only just beat Caleb Ewan.

01:22 When do you realize that you've won?

01:24 Once you cross the line, or after?

01:27 - Yeah, I thought I had it, but I was not sure.

01:29 And then, yeah, quickly after I got confirmation.

01:32 - A second victory, a second consecutive victory.

01:36 Now you will start considering the green jersey?

01:40 - Yeah, now I think it's looking good for green so far,

01:43 but we're only four stages, yeah, just started.

01:47 So the tour is a long, long way,

01:49 and yeah, we try to defend it.
