The battle for dominance and superiority on social media platforms between Elon Musk and Mark Zuckerberg has entered a new era. After Musk’s takeover of twitter and introduction of major changes on the social media platform, social media users were hoping for a better alternative. While there were actually a few alternatives, such as Mastodon and Bluesky, none were able to surpass Twitter’s popularity with a critical mass of politically and culturally influential figures. Meta’s owner, Mark Zuckerberg, has cashed on this crucial void.and Meta-owned Instagram has struck while the iron was hot. It pre-poned the launch of its social media app ‘Threads’ and went live at midnight in UK last night. It took off with a bang with 5 million users signing up within just four hours of the app going live. Threads also went live for users in 100 more countries which basically mean that it is now freely available in 100 countries on the Apple and Google app store. Brands such as Billboard, HBO, NPR and Netflix had accounts set up within minutes of launch and celebrities such as Shakira and Gordon Ramsay have also been said to be present here.
