00:00 The Jetsons 1963, issue 13.
00:03 It starts with another story where George gets some new neighbors.
00:08 Jane's sociable enough to want to introduce herself to the new neighbor,
00:13 who takes too long saying the word "yes",
00:16 which he would only do if he was trying to creep them out.
00:19 Which doesn't make sense, as trying to get them off-put would only inconvenience him by scaring them away,
00:24 and then he couldn't take advantage of them,
00:26 as they wonder if he's a vampire, and even talks like a stereotypical one.
00:30 He gets thanked when he suddenly says he wants to show them around.
00:34 He says he's Professor Bella Bella,
00:37 an inventor with a robot assistant he named after Igor,
00:41 obviously because he was trying to reference Frankenstein.
00:45 Jane must have known that reference and been confused about why he picked it,
00:49 because it's not like robots make her uncomfortable when she's used to Rosie already.
00:55 He impresses George, showing off his invention,
00:58 which reminds me of the Archie's Madhouse story where Sabrina and Hilda went into tubes like this,
01:04 because the invention was meant to make ugly people pretty.
01:07 But it's more likely to be a body-switching invention,
01:10 or teleportation tubes.
01:13 I assume this room is the only one he got to show them,
01:16 so that's not really showing around if he's already getting them to leave.
01:21 Bella Bella, the guy with the female-sounding name reminding me of Bella Swan,
01:26 goes through the effort of petting Igor, which is sweet when he doesn't have to.
01:30 Jane wonders why George is about to leave,
01:34 when Jane has just one more button to push before dinner's ready.
01:38 And he says he wants to ask what his invention is.
01:41 Jane says jokingly that she thought only women were supposed to be curious.
01:45 It's confusing because this is supposed to be the 2060s,
01:50 and it's impressive that it's so rare for moments like this to happen that make the comic show its age,
01:55 but it doesn't matter anyways.
01:57 George lies that Jane was the one who sent him over because she was curious,
02:02 and he's told that in the positive tube, he can change people into robots,
02:07 and in the negative tube, robots into people.
02:10 This is exciting!
02:12 I never thought the Jetsons would literally have a roboticizer in it.
02:18 I'm glad it reminds me of Vampires because it's implying that he's only able to make
02:22 this witchcraft-like technology because he's supernatural,
02:26 so he's powering it with his magic to begin with,
02:28 while with Sonic, I had to assume the natural chaos energy everywhere in the air of the world
02:33 seeped into the roboticizer because of what it was made of to make it work.
02:37 Igor pushes George into the tube.
02:40 He gets surrounded by electricity beams and told it won't hurt,
02:46 though I'm wondering why he thinks that if there's a zap sound effect,
02:49 and it looks like it does hurt.
02:50 Wouldn't he know his own machine better than that?
02:52 And he should know that telling him to relax couldn't get him to relax,
02:57 but at least he's nice enough to try,
02:59 and there's the obvious constructive criticism that it'd make more sense for him to get turned
03:04 into a robot by a liquid.
03:06 George ends up with bolts on his clothes,
03:09 and he walks with his arms in front of him like a zombie,
03:12 and Bella Bella brags that someday he'll have an army of robots to do his bidding.
03:18 Meanwhile, I have to assume the reason he looked forward to his ability to turn robots into people
03:22 was that Igor always wanted to be organic,
03:25 so it's not like he'd have a good reason to make robots organic in general.
03:29 I guess he can't afford to buy a robot factory,
03:32 and he isn't smart enough to make an automatic robot factory that he could hide
03:38 and easily have an army a lot faster than this.
03:42 I'm just saying he could take over the world with the robot army
03:45 without having to do this to someone one at a time.
03:49 I love that being roboticized doesn't ruin a character's design
03:54 with their eyes turning black and red for no reason.
03:57 Or red and black.
03:59 And instead they keep all the same colors they had before,
04:02 unlike with Zombots and Robians.
04:05 A deus ex machina happens because George picks him up saying he won't do his bidding
04:10 and says no one tells him what to do, calling himself tough.
04:13 He's reminding me of Surge.
04:15 There's no way this would have happened by accident,
04:18 but somehow it surprises him.
04:20 I wish he had a name I could take seriously.
04:23 I think the only way this would happen to him by surprise
04:26 other than someone sabotaging his roboticizer
04:29 is if he used the wrong potion ingredients in the roboticizer
04:33 because they look similar to other potion ingredients with different effects
04:37 and he was so arrogant that he went by memory alone.
04:40 I wish that was explained because it could have this make sense.
04:43 But instead it looks like an unacceptable writer cop-out
04:47 stabbed George able to hit Igor and escape because he's the main character.
04:51 Bell looks pathetic by hoping his mechanical monster won't come back.
04:57 Why won't he come back?
04:59 Won't he try to tell the police?
05:01 He can't just let him go.
05:03 I guess he doesn't have any powers beyond being able to send magic into machinery a little
05:08 because it's been a while since there were full-blooded vampires in his family.
05:11 I don't think him failing to make his new robot obedient to him
05:15 despite Igor having that programming just fine
05:18 is actually guaranteeing that he'd never be a threat with the roboticizer
05:22 because all he'd have to do is research his roboticizer and fix the problem.
05:26 George's family sees George being in a bad mood
05:30 and Jane is smart enough to instantly know it's him instead of a look-like robot
05:35 and realize what happened.
05:36 It's weird that she calls him "Daddy".
05:39 I know she's in front of the kids but all she'd do is call him "Dad" if that's why.
05:44 George says he was made into a strong robot and he's happy about it.
05:50 He seems to be really smart here.
05:52 Rather than angsting about this, he immediately knows it's a good thing.
05:56 Although he's not really thinking ahead.
05:58 But then he refuses his favorite dish
06:00 and somehow thinks Jane already knows that he loves a quart of oil for his dinner.
06:05 So it is a bad thing because he can't eat normal food anymore.
06:09 But surely with the level of technology this world has,
06:12 it should be possible to modify him to fix that problem.
06:15 We have biomass eating robots in real life.
06:19 Jane says she's gonna wait until he goes to sleep
06:22 and then try to find the switch to turn him off.
06:25 That's dark.
06:27 Elroy conveniently does find a switch in his body to do that.
06:30 If Bella Bella didn't expect his robots to go rogue on him,
06:34 why did he think to put this here
06:36 when he planned to have an army of those robots take over the world for him?
06:39 That'd make the army easy to stop.
06:41 It's not like the button was something only he could get to work thanks to fingerprint scanning.
06:47 Which even then isn't completely guaranteed to work.
06:51 They didn't even need this button because he shouldn't have even woken up.
06:55 They could have lifted and carried him right away and I wouldn't have questioned it.
06:58 Jane plans to take him to Bella Bella
07:02 and says that he better know how to fix him if he knows what's good for him.
07:06 She sure is overconfident to think her family could intimidate him into doing that.
07:10 All she has to do is run after him with a rolling pin
07:13 to scare him into throwing him into the tube and returning him to normal.
07:16 Imagine if Robotnik was like that.
07:19 To be fair, it makes perfect sense that anybody,
07:22 even Robotnik, would be scared and hate having to deal with someone
07:26 running after him with a rolling pin when he's defenseless.
07:29 But that's why he made his robot bots before roboticizing people.
07:33 That's why he was able to do that to Tails' dad
07:35 because he had them around after he did that to someone for the first time
07:39 and he confronted him on it.
07:40 If he had more robots, then he wouldn't have needed to deroboticize George
07:45 and apologize to him because he's intimidated.
07:48 Bella Bella gets made a joke out of intentionally
07:52 as he says he always has trouble with the neighbors because he tries to experiment on them.
07:57 It sure is a shame for him that he's too stupid to just make clones of them
08:00 and experiment on them instead.
08:02 He runs into the glass tube hoping he won't hit him just because he was in there
08:07 when he'd have no reason to think he won't hit him for that reason.
08:10 It's obvious he would have run in any other direction than towards this tube.
08:14 It actually makes sense if George pushed him into the roboticizer instead.
08:19 Like especially if he bumped into him and accidentally had him fall into it
08:23 because pushing him in might be too far when you can see he felt sorry for him here.
08:28 But George is selfish plenty of times.
08:30 You'd think it wouldn't be out of character for him when he's already a jerk.
08:34 Bella Bella gets roboticized and he says he feels full of joy.
08:39 So rather than the roboticizer always making people think they're tough guys
08:43 that don't get bossed around,
08:45 it turns someone's personality into the complete opposite of what it once was.
08:49 For no reason.
08:51 So he's gonna give up on experimenting and do nothing but poetry.
08:54 And I'm trying to picture this happening to Robotnik.
08:57 George smiles and says he's nice and walks away happily
09:02 and says him to say goodbye to Igor for them.
09:04 Being unexpectedly nice by caring enough about Igor to say that.
09:09 And Jane says they'll be harmless nice neighbors now.
09:13 I love how instantly they forgive him.
09:15 It shows what nice people they really are.
09:17 Bella Bella moves his arms while gesturing and accidentally hits Igor into the deroboticizer
09:23 which changes him into a human.
09:25 Despite him not having any sort of organs.
09:28 So he would just die from it.
09:31 So obviously it's just got a magical spell in it that turns a person from a robot into a human.
09:37 Why does he decide to give himself a new name?
09:41 I don't understand why he doesn't turn into George
09:44 because the deroboticizer only would have made George come back to normal
09:51 because it had the bio data that the roboticizer conveniently saved after roboticizing George.
09:58 So when did Scylla have the bio data and make Igor look like George?
10:03 Igor says he's been toying with the idea of working up a black magic act
10:08 and plans to do experimenting with people with the help of Bella Bella
10:12 who's somehow smiling instead of horrified because he said he was giving it up.
10:15 Him mentioning black magic as if he had any chance of using it makes the writing better
10:21 because it shows definite proof that Bella Bella has magic
10:26 or at least potion ingredients since magic can't come out of nowhere.
10:31 Bella Bella must have put magic in Igor ahead of time or potion ingredients with magic
10:37 or else he'd never think he could use it because he was just a robot before.
10:42 Who didn't know magic even existed.
10:44 The story ends here and I'm thinking it would be a real shame if they never show up again
10:49 just because it's an episodic comic.
10:51 Bella Bella couldn't hide what happened to him forever
10:54 without the police going to his apartment for tax evasion.
10:57 It's inevitable that he would have to reveal himself to someone
11:00 and explain how he made himself this way.
11:02 Word would spread and he'd get people interested in his roboticizer
11:07 and the Jetsons world would run the risk of turning out like Sad AM.
11:11 The chances of that would multiply if other people found out how to make it
11:15 which would be inevitable from people being interested in it
11:18 and putting pressure on them to tell them how they made it.
11:21 They'd brabbed them with so much money that they'd never be able to turn it down.
11:24 Even Robotnik wouldn't be able to turn down a million dollars
11:28 in exchange for the blueprints to make a roboticizer
11:31 because he'd be so confident that he'd convince himself
11:34 that he'd still be able to take over the world if he agreed
11:37 and that he could easily deal with anyone trying to do the same thing to him.
11:41 Georgia's family would see them again later and realize Igor can't be trusted anymore
11:46 so they'd change their minds about thinking the roboticizer won't be misused again
11:50 and couldn't be left alone.
11:51 The only way they could prevent the roboticizer from being used again
11:55 is if they get Rosie to use her super strength to destroy it
11:59 and get rid of the ingredients for it.
12:01 The problem is that nothing would be stopping these two from calling the cops on them
12:04 telling them that they broke into their apartment to destroy their property
12:08 and getting them arrested or at least Rosie.
12:10 Sure the cops would know their story about the roboticizer's function would be true
12:14 the instant they'd see Bella Bella
12:17 but Igor could tell them to hide
12:19 and with nothing but a wild claim as an excuse for the destruction
12:22 the cops would never bother to have the pieces of the roboticizer reconstructed
12:26 to see if it's really a roboticizer because they'd think it's a lie
12:30 and without a warrant the cops won't even be allowed to search the apartments
12:34 for the blueprints
12:35 based on a wild claim they don't believe
12:38 because it's not like blueprints to science fiction invention are illegal.
12:42 So I'm not sure the family would have the courage to send Rosie to wreck the roboticizer
12:47 because they should be able to know that destroying someone's property would get you arrested.
12:52 Maybe if the roboticizer gets used enough times
12:54 that the family sees Igor with an army of people they used to know
12:58 especially if it included Mr. Spacely
13:00 the unemployed George would think it's worth it to get Rosie in trouble.
13:04 It'd make the most sense if Rosie insisted on trying to destroy the roboticizer without permission.
13:10 It goes to show you what a missed opportunity would be to have these characters never show up again
13:14 because I ended up interested enough to say all of this about the concept.
13:18 So this needed one more story to wrap this up.
13:22 Bella Bella would be living proof of it being possible to everybody
13:26 so another one would still end up built anyways
13:28 because Rosie wouldn't get to gather up the remains of the roboticizer
13:32 and have them thrown in a trash can even if she thought of that.
13:36 She'd just want to go in and out of the apartment quickly
13:38 because she was doing something illegal
13:40 especially if Bella Bella was trying to stop her the whole time she'd be there.
13:44 He didn't hate Igor in the last panel
13:46 so it didn't seem to me like he'd want his plan ruined.
13:49 In the next story, Elroy asks George if he can have one of the new space boards
13:54 like all the kids are getting.
13:56 Why aren't they called hoverboards?
13:59 That was an idea long before the 2060s.
14:02 And how is this new?
14:04 Somehow George doesn't know what a space board is when it's obvious just from the name
14:10 and when I thought he'd refuse to get him one because it'd be life-threateningly dangerous
14:15 instead he's reckless enough to plan on making one himself.
14:18 He does so and Elroy thinks it looks embarrassing.
14:22 George uses it only for it to go too fast and send him falling a story down.
14:28 He tells him to never mention space boards again
14:30 but for some reason it's only because he doesn't want to get himself hurt
14:36 teaching him to ride one.
14:37 Elroy says he could learn by himself like the other kids
14:41 and George refuses to listen to reason.
14:43 Not that the reason was sound anyways
14:46 because space boards would be getting kids hurt and killed constantly
14:50 which would be so obvious because of how high they'd let them fly
14:53 that they wouldn't even make it to the market.
14:56 If there was a height limit on them maybe it'd be sort of believable.
14:59 Then Jane surprises Elroy with the new space board.
15:03 He hugs her complimenting her
15:05 and George somehow makes the mistake of running onto the board when it was in front of his eyes
15:10 and somehow Elroy says he took it when it flies away when clearly he didn't want that.
15:16 He doesn't know how to control it as I'm wondering what's supposed to keep people on it
15:21 especially as it does a loop-de-loop.
15:24 I can understand if the board trapped his feet on it.
15:27 I guess his shoes are iron and the board is extremely magnetic.
15:31 Jane thinks he's showing off totally ignoring him screaming in fear somehow.
15:37 Someone starts filming him in his car.
15:39 George thinks he's not so bad after all
15:41 but fortunately knows he can't do those tricks willingly.
15:45 He falls onto his dashboard.
15:47 Elroy complains about the board being lost by accident
15:51 and George lies that he planned it that way
15:53 even though that'd get Elroy upset with him even more.
15:56 By sheer coincidence this guy is the maker of the boards
16:00 who just so happens to have one of his new supermodels in his car with him for no reason.
16:06 I guess he was bringing it to kiddie new
16:08 but didn't mind the idea of having to buy a new one when he saw George.
16:12 Elroy gets a board and uses it
16:15 and George isn't worried at all from him using it without being taught how
16:20 when earlier he was saying that he doesn't want to bruise himself teaching him.
16:24 Now he has total faith in him.
16:26 George hopes Elroy would learn how to ride like he did and he hopes he won't.
16:30 George says he thought he was going to use the video I made of him in his new sales campaign
16:35 and he says he plans on using it to show people how not to ride boards for safety's sake
16:40 but won't using that in an ad targeting kids only encourage them to do it to show off?
16:46 It's good that he turned out to be smart.
16:49 In the next story outside the supermarket
16:53 Rose somehow damages George's car
16:55 and it's actually funny how her head hangs low while she says she's very sorry sir
17:00 and George leans back with his hand on his head melodramatically.
17:04 He complains that it was apparently a new car
17:07 and wonders why she ever went to the store
17:09 when she has all the modern conveniences she could ever need in the food-o-matic.
17:14 She explains that she was storing up for an emergency power failure
17:18 that hasn't happened in years.
17:20 I'm guessing it'll fail on this issue.
17:22 He finds out she bought candles
17:25 and expects me to believe even light bulbs are antique
17:28 without explaining what they got replaced with.
17:31 It's nice of her to not want him to get a headache.
17:33 He says it's the food she bought and complains that it's too expensive.
17:38 This is the kind of argument a husband would normally have with his wife
17:43 so it's funny to see him say this to a maid.
17:46 He complains that last night he told her he wanted the family to spend less
17:50 and he wonders if she can even remember last night.
17:53 She says so but I'm still wondering if something's actually wrong with her
17:57 because otherwise it's just her being handed the idiot ball.
18:00 It'd make more sense if he was mad at Judy for buying too many dresses
18:04 but that'd be boring.
18:05 The doorbell rings because Rosie ordered headache powder
18:09 that went out of style when the electronic massage was invented
18:13 that can be used at home from a helmet connected to the wall.
18:16 Jane's happy to learn that the wood burner stove just arrived
18:21 that they somehow ordered when George can't use a different stove
18:25 without causing an explosion.
18:26 There's a power failure but George isn't out of luck
18:30 because Jane knows that Rosie is already fixing him up some headache powder
18:34 and she hands him a lit candle
18:37 and they start preparing dinner on the wood stove.
18:39 They must have researched how to do this off screen
18:42 so I'm proud of them but it'll be lame if in later stories
18:45 they don't keep this newfound skill.
18:48 I love episodic comics but it's still easy to see why some continuity
18:52 is much better than none when it comes to improvements in the status quo.
18:55 Jane giggles and tells Rosie she can't go on
18:59 and Rosie giggles too admitting that it is just a joke.
19:03 George says his salary is 1,000 a week as he laughs too.
19:07 He turns the lights back on
19:10 and then Rosie's told to look out as she's near the main power control that was left open.
19:15 She backs into it and turns off the lights
19:18 and George decides to take them out to dinner before they drag out the candles again.
19:23 They get excited by a restaurant they always wanted to eat at
19:27 only for George to be disappointed because he could have eaten at home by candlelight for free.
19:32 Hopefully he'll change his tune once he discovers how delicious the restaurant food is.
19:36 It sure is miraculous that any restaurants still have candles when they're considered antiques
19:42 and I'm surprised to see a robot waiter because we saw a normal waiter earlier
19:46 so it's not like all waiters were replaced with free robot labor.
19:50 In the comedy page that's in color this time we see George and Jane in the car
19:55 and the text bubbles are there without the characters
19:58 as Jane nags George about driving faster than sound.
20:01 This would be hypocritical of her if she's bad at driving still.
20:06 In the next one George dreams about being faced with an alien in his car
20:11 and the alien runs around him.
20:14 He presses a button in his sleep somehow causing him to dream about the alien getting punched
20:19 and what's confusing is that the punch comes from a wall above him.
20:23 In the next story George suggests bullying to Jane and Jane asks him to go dancing
20:29 and George says she knows he sucks at dancing and Jane says he knows she sucks at bullying.
20:36 Then why did they ask each other?
20:37 They had no reason to assume the other one got better at that thing
20:40 but apparently they must have had desperation.
20:44 Jane wishes they could find something they could do together
20:47 instead of having to spend every evening sitting at home
20:51 with George having the paper held for him by robot arms.
20:54 It's too bad George couldn't have gotten a wife that shared his interests.
20:58 He sees in the newspaper that there's a place teaching both dancing and bullying
21:03 so they could take lessons and Jane loves the idea and tells him to call them.
21:07 I was thinking that they should both look for a new hobby that they'd both be good at
21:12 as unlikely as that'd be but instead George gets a robot dancing instructor who he finds attractive
21:20 despite being a robot that's gray all over and doesn't even have normal eyes.
21:24 He's also happy to hold her hand immediately in front of his wife somehow.
21:30 This would have made sense if the instructor looked more like Jane.
21:33 It's believable that people would try to make robots that look as good looking as possible
21:38 because it's pleasing to the eye for the creator
21:42 but then you remember that maid bots aren't attractive
21:45 possibly because they live with their employer
21:47 and if they were pretty they would get fired right away for tempting the husband
21:51 if they don't break up the marriage first.
21:53 That applies to dancing and bullying instructor bots too.
21:57 A lot of them would lose their customers right away if this is a common problem for them.
22:01 So that would teach the robot makers to keep it simple and have their robots look unattractive
22:07 because it only causes problems.
22:09 If all the other robots aren't shaped like attractive humans
22:14 there seems to be no reason this would suddenly be the case for dancing and bullying teachers
22:18 and nothing else just because the robot makers would like the look of these robots
22:24 because that then caused them to make other robots like waiter robots as good looking.
22:28 I'm sure these ones were made by different people than the other robots.
22:32 Jane's somehow too timid to immediately tell him what her objection is
22:35 even though she stood up to him at the drop of a hat before.
22:39 I have to assume the reason the dancing instructor looks like a woman
22:43 is because the robot maker thought dancing was mainly a women's hobby
22:47 because it could have easily been a typical male robot
22:51 as a robot being female doesn't serve a good purpose.
22:55 Then George immediately gets a taste of his own medicine with Jane's robot instructor
23:00 as he's shaped like a handsome man in her opinion.
23:03 Never mind the fact that he's gray all over
23:06 so you'd think she wouldn't find him very attractive and George wouldn't be jealous.
23:09 This could easily not feel forced if these robots looked like people.
23:14 For once a being sci-fi is getting in the way of a good story
23:19 because they should have just been normal people like you'd expect.
23:22 Why would the role of dancing and bowling teachers be entirely automated to robots made for the task?
23:28 I'm assuming this because someone earlier said he makes robots that only do one thing.
23:34 Never mind Rosie.
23:36 Why do people think this should be done by robots for free but George still has a job?
23:42 We saw human waiters and robot waiter
23:45 so this might just be a job that all purpose robots can apply for too.
23:49 But how would one of those robots ever get hired when their competition are humans
23:53 that have education and work experience on their resumes?
23:57 So it can't just be a coincidence that these two are robots.
24:01 The only way robots with just as much potential as humans could have a chance of getting hired
24:07 would be if they went to school too.
24:09 And why bother making robots like that when they'll just be competition for jobs
24:13 and add to the unemployment rate?
24:15 I assume Futurama has it that way because there was a huge labor shortage
24:19 and so they needed to make robots for it.
24:21 We see some boring panels where George and Jane suck at what they're trying to learn
24:27 without cheating on their spouses.
24:29 Meaning that their spouses were worried for nothing
24:31 and the looks of the robots were just pointless.
24:33 You'd think if it was possible for a bowling student to accidentally hit their instructor
24:38 with a ball while trying to throw it,
24:40 the instructor would have already learned to stand further away from the student.
24:44 This must have been his first day on the job.
24:46 Jane apologizes and so does George.
24:50 And later on, George and Jane reunite and tell each other they learned how to bowl and dance,
24:56 respectively.
24:57 The next night though,
24:58 Jane holds a piece of paper and says the lessons cost them more than they thought
25:03 to the point where they can't afford to leave the house for a month.
25:07 So the story ends with them happily holding hands while sitting on the armchairs.
25:11 With George staying optimistic because being together was their main goal
25:16 and this is free.
25:17 So that was it.
25:19 It's sort of a relief that it avoided drama with them accusing each other of cheating.
25:23 But then there wasn't any point to making the robots make the spouses jealous.
25:27 In the next story,
25:29 Judy complains that her current boyfriend is late for a date with her
25:33 and something's wrong with the Futomatic,
25:35 both problems they already had.
25:36 So it makes sense that Elroy isn't interested.
25:39 Elroy thinks their problems are relevant compared to his scooter being slower than Rosie,
25:44 when it's obvious that the Futomatic being broken is far more important
25:48 because the family needs to eat and if the scooter was faster, he could get hurt.
25:53 So no wonder they don't put any zoom in kids' scooters.
25:56 Judy's boyfriend, Rocky, apologizes for being late
26:00 and explains that his Skycar lost its zoom because a certain part of it is burnt out.
26:06 So Elroy assumes he needs a part just like it for his scooter to go fast,
26:10 even though it's a scooter and not a Skycar.
26:13 And he plans to go to the Skycar parts store to get one.
26:17 I was willing to think of Skycar as just another type of space mobile,
26:21 like how cars and trucks are all still automobiles
26:25 and not question why the term just came up.
26:27 But then he said Skycar parts store.
26:30 So now I have to assume this is a different universe
26:32 where people call the space mobiles by a better, faster name.
26:36 Fortunately, reality ensues as a hole is too tiny for a Gusto tube to fit in the scooter.
26:42 Elroy hears someone tell Jane that he fixed her Futomatic
26:46 because apparently it had a problem so bad even George couldn't fix it.
26:50 And he throws away a certain part to it.
26:53 If it was thrown away, it clearly wouldn't be working right.
26:56 And yet Elroy thinks it's worth bothering with
26:58 because by sheer coincidence, the Gusto tube fits in the big end somehow.
27:03 It's like the gizmo is an adapter that lets him connect
27:06 tons of different things to a hole that he couldn't normally.
27:09 How convenient that it can do that.
27:11 It fits in his scooter and he's effortlessly able to fly his scooter fast.
27:16 He says he always wanted to cut across the yard where a mean dog lived.
27:20 The dog's sitting on a hovering platform that I guess is able to control with his thoughts alone.
27:26 I assume it only exists because it's faster than a dog can go after intruders on foot.
27:31 I wonder if the scooter will run out of power after he's had all his fun.
27:34 Elroy flies away with the dog being tired.
27:38 How is a dog tired when it was the platform doing all the work?
27:42 The platform must have been running off his life energy.
27:45 That's an oddly sadistic way to program something meant for everybody's dogs.
27:50 Elroy somehow thinks he could get away with sleeping late in the mornings
27:55 because of how fast the scooter is.
27:57 Even though obviously Jane once let him get away with that.
28:00 And this must be a universe where he doesn't have a machine
28:03 automatically waking him up and getting him out of bed.
28:06 He takes a bully with a face like an adult.
28:09 What is to build a series in giving non-adults Homer Simpson muscles?
28:12 Elroy calls him an idiot when he should know he would easily get revenge on him
28:17 as soon as he wasn't in the scooter.
28:19 I have to assume he only did this because the bully bothers him every time he sees him
28:24 and so he thinks he might as well do this.
28:26 It's weird that the bully says he'll clobber the cuteness out of him
28:30 because that's acknowledging that he's cute when he doesn't like him.
28:33 The scooter avoids his punch
28:36 so we get the satisfaction of seeing him be baffled about it.
28:39 Although in the story itself he didn't do anything wrong.
28:43 Elroy says so much for his enemies
28:45 establishing that he has no other enemies in his opinion.
28:48 Really? Not even the neighborhood kids that always get him mad?
28:52 He wants to go to the moon
28:54 as it somehow doesn't occur to him that going too high up would kill him from oxygen deprivation.
29:00 Then the scooter has a confusingly drawn flame out to save his life
29:04 and Elroy's immediately smart and calm enough to figure out that the big gusto tube
29:09 put too much strain on his tiny power plant.
29:12 It's unique to call a battery a power plant.
29:15 His scooter starts falling with his head facing the ground.
29:18 This could have easily sent him falling to his death.
29:22 So he's lucky he landed in a bush.
29:24 I hope he's being metaphorical when he says this is why bushes were invented.
29:27 The bully and dog catch up with him.
29:31 I find it hard to believe that the dog would be here when he got tired out earlier.
29:35 We see Elroy start running as the narration says emergency is the mother of invention.
29:41 The jerk with a hat reminding me of Jughead misses his attack
29:45 and his scooter crashes into Elroy's along with that of the dog.
29:48 And Elroy explains that feet are fast enough for him.
29:52 In the comedy page, Jane says Astro doesn't want to be left home alone
29:56 when the family is going to drive away when there's no room for him.
29:59 So Jane realizes they could tow him in his dog cart
30:03 which gets Astro overheated because of the fire coming out of the back of the space mobile.
30:07 Then dog carts wouldn't be sold.
30:09 And I don't remember fire coming out of space mobile.
30:12 Smoke did.
30:13 So this is another universe.
30:15 In another comedy page, Jane reminds Rosie to bring her and her club of friends some food
30:20 and she's overwhelmed and gets an idea for how to bring them all what they requested at once.
30:26 With Elroy's help using wheeled cars.
30:29 The first story was about a new neighbor of George with a stupid name literally roboticizing him.
30:35 So that's a shocking memorable story for a Sonic fan.
30:39 But for an unexplained reason, George doesn't get reprogrammed to be obedient to Bella Bella
30:46 so he can go to his family and cause Jane to attack him into deroboticizing him.
30:50 And then not Robotnik is somehow stupid enough to walk into his roboticizer by accident
30:56 when it could have just been accidentally shoved into it.
30:58 He should have thought to make or buy a bunch of robots beforehand
31:03 because they'd intimidate the family into leaving his apartment.
31:06 Plus it could have kept George from leaving to begin with.
31:10 George could have told them about the robos.
31:13 So Jane would send Rosie to destroy them one by one
31:17 and Rosie could have still carried George to the deroboticizer whether he liked it or not.
31:22 It would be the first time a whole group of enemies in fiction attacked one by one for no reason.
31:27 And all Rosie would have to do is move both arms and she'd attack multiple opponents.
31:32 Besides George had a disintegrator ray before.
31:35 I like that in the ending he got turned into a good robot.
31:39 It's the ideal way for this kind of plot to be resolved
31:42 with its own invention being used against him.
31:44 It's too bad I have to just assume that the wrong potion ingredients
31:48 are why the roboticizer not only doesn't remove free will
31:52 but also makes your personality do a 180 every time.
31:55 It's too bad the ending had Igor become an evil magician
31:59 because it makes me hate that they'll never show up again.
32:01 I doubt Sonic took this concept from the comic intentionally
32:05 because nobody talks about this comic as far as I know.
32:08 It's from all the way back in the 60s.
32:11 The second story after George makes a space board for Elroy
32:15 despite how dangerous it'd be and fails miserably.
32:18 Has Jane surprise Elroy with one
32:21 only for George to run onto it in a blind rage
32:25 and his haphazard flying from not knowing how to use it
32:28 causes the maker of the boards who miraculously saw him
32:31 to present Elroy with a board of his own conveniently.
32:34 A lot of things happened that could have easily not
32:38 but the only thing forced was that the space boards
32:40 were even in production when they'd be extremely dangerous.
32:43 The third story doesn't have much of a plot.
32:47 George gets mad at how much Rosie and Jane are spending
32:50 but while you'd think it would build up to a revelation
32:53 that there's something wrong with Rosie, it doesn't.
32:56 And while the power going out when he tries to use his headache cure
32:58 seems to be trying to teach George that it's good for Rosie to overspend
33:02 to prepare for a power failure.
33:04 It turns out that their lights only went out
33:07 because they were turned out on purpose as a prank
33:09 and when Rosie actually caused a power failure
33:12 George gets them all to a restaurant
33:14 before he could actually take advantage of the candles and stuff Rosie bought him
33:18 when he was just complaining about them overspending.
33:20 So it would be better to just take advantage of the candles and save money.
33:26 The fourth story was about George and Jane getting lessons in the other's hobby
33:31 but the confusing thing is that their instructors are robots
33:34 they see as good-looking despite the fact that they're great from head to toe.
33:38 But since this has a good tone, the characters stay in character
33:42 because they don't cheat on their spouse or even consider it.
33:45 And they're even smart enough not to ask or accuse their spouse of cheating on them
33:50 or wanting to.
33:50 But that means the fact that the robots were supposedly good-looking
33:54 was completely pointless.
33:56 Only worrying a character for a few panels for nothing.
33:59 So the only conflict was something that only existed in the characters' paranoid heads.
34:04 The only real problem they encounter, they don't even mind it in the end.
34:08 I can't honestly say it's bad that the instructors were robots
34:12 but that's only because I found it a little interesting to talk about
34:15 because it only made the story make less sense.
34:17 Since most robots aren't even a little attractive
34:21 it seems arbitrary that these ones had that problem.
34:24 This plot could have easily had no sci-fi at all by replacing the robots with humans
34:29 but then it'd be so boring and cliche what would be the point?
34:33 The fifth story is about Elroy wanting his scooter to be faster
34:36 and finding various parts off completely unrelated machines
34:40 that miraculously are compatible with his scooter.
34:43 At least until the scooter flames out because it couldn't handle it
34:47 right before he was about to fly to the moon and kill himself.
34:49 It's convenient for him that he could do that
34:52 and it certainly was fun to see him get away with having fun avoiding a mean dog
34:57 and some trees he could have easily gotten hurt crashing into.
35:00 Although I didn't see the bully do anything to deserve being taunted first
35:04 making it not as satisfying as it could be.
35:06 At least the ending wasn't as depressing as it could be
35:09 because the end is already happy with just running around
35:12 when it could have easily just been sad.
35:15 [BLANK_AUDIO]
