'Sack Manipur CM…' CPI(M) leader Subhashini Ali fumes over viral video

  • last year
Lashing out at the Bharatiya Janata Party-led Central Government over the Manipur violence and the recently gone viral video from the hill state, politburo member of the Communist Party of India (Marxist) Subhashini Ali demanded the resignation of state Chief Minister N Biren Singh. “The whole country is ashamed and horrified. We have been seeing horrible things for a long time. This incident is more than two months old. What are the Chief Minister and Home Minister doing? The CM of Manipur must be sacked; he is a divisive person. He is standing on one side of the fence and he can’t restore peace in that state. The Prime Minister and Home Minister must intervene seriously while taking the Opposition into confidence. They should also make sure that no divisive statements are made from the side of their party leaders or their side. The PM has to act urgently,” Subhashini Ali.

00:00 The whole country is horrified and ashamed and also very agitated and angry by what we
00:13 have seen and actually we have been seeing terrible things for a long time.
00:17 Now this incident is also of May 5th.
00:21 It is simply shocking that this incident occurred more than two months ago.
00:26 The police are aware of it, they have registered an FIR, they have not arrested anybody.
00:30 What is the Chief Minister doing?
00:32 What is the Home Minister doing?
00:33 My point is that the Chief Minister of Manipur must go.
00:37 He himself is a divisive person.
00:40 He is also standing on one side of the fence.
00:43 He cannot restore peace in that state.
00:45 And simultaneously the Home Minister and the Prime Minister must intervene seriously, taking
00:51 the opposition into confidence and bringing all different sections of Manipur society
00:57 together, holding talks with all of them and trying to restore peace.
01:01 And the Prime Minister and Home Minister must ensure that their party leaders and they themselves
01:07 do not now make any more divisive statements.
01:10 It has gone on for too long.
01:12 The Prime Minister himself resorts to this kind of language which is shameful.
01:16 We have seen the result of it in Manipur where people are constantly talking about outsiders,
01:22 about outsiders coming in, about people of different religions creating trouble.
01:28 This must end.
01:29 The Assam Chief Minister has made the most outrageous statement, blaming one particular
01:34 religious community for the price of tomatoes.
01:38 The Minister in charge of the North East, Mr. Sonnewal, day before yesterday he said
01:43 the North East is moving ahead under the able leadership of Narendra Modi.
01:48 And then he also made certain objectionable statements.
01:51 My point is this has gone on too long.
01:54 You have to stop creating hatred between communities.
01:58 You have to stop playing the blame game of putting all the responsibility for whatever
02:02 bad happens on minorities.
02:05 And you have to start thinking about keeping the country united, keeping people united.
02:10 The results of this kind of divisive campaign, hate campaign is there for us to see not only
02:18 in Manipur but in many parts of the country.
02:20 So therefore it is time to put a stop to it.
02:23 The Prime Minister has to act urgently and he must take the opposition into confidence
02:28 and try to restore peace in Manipur.
02:37 Opposition is not raising it for the first time.
02:40 I want to remind your viewers that Mr. Rajiv Gandhi has visited Manipur.
02:46 The Communist Party, CPI and CPI, their members of Parliament have also visited Manipur.
02:52 They have also said that peace has to be restored, people have to be brought together.
02:57 They have been trying to talk to all communities over there and they are also saying that the
03:02 Chief Minister has failed miserably in actually bringing about peace in Manipur.
03:07 So if the opposition parties are not going to raise it today in Parliament, they have
03:11 gone there, they have been raising it constantly.
03:14 It is for the government now to say what are they planning to do.
03:18 To jaha tak vipaksh ka sawal hai, aaj vipaksh to uthaayega lekin aisa nahi hai ki aaj tak
03:24 vipaksh khamosh tha.
03:26 Shri Rajiv Gandhi, Rahul Gandhi wahan jaa chuke hain.
03:30 Communist Party aur Communist Party Marxwadi ke jo sansad hain, wo bhi Manipur jaa chuke
03:35 hain, wo tamam logon se wahan par mile, unhone shanti ki appeal bhi ki, to wo to apna kaam
03:41 kar rahe hai, yeh to sarkar hai jo apna kaam nahi kar rahe hai.
03:44 Aur yaha to double engine ki sarkar hai, wo to bilkul patri se uthar chuke hai, dono
03:49 engine iss samay patri se uthare huye hai.
03:51 To sarkar ki taraf se kuch ana chahiye, kuch kadam ane chahiye, kuch pehl hone chahiye,
03:57 wahan par shanti ko punar sthaapan karne ke liye.
