00:00 Davao del Norte is gearing up for when El Nino hits and the menacing dry spell and drought it brings.
00:06 In fact, a technical working group has been created and is in the thick of exploring and testing measures
00:11 to mitigate the impact of extended dryness and drought all over the land.
00:16 Among them, mass diggings to lay out and put up shallow tube wells to help irrigate small farmlands.
00:21 Then there is the procurement of geo-resistivity detector hardware to help find sources of water underground.
00:28 Likewise, preparations are underway for the scheduled release of impounded water from dams and the catch basins
00:34 where the waters will ultimately settle.
00:37 And to keep lands productive even under extended drought or dry spells,
00:41 there will be select planting of sturdy and all-weather crops such as sweet potatoes and bananas which can survive with little water.
