Transcript
00:00 Most weekends are pretty quiet in the tiny town of Catherine, about 300km south of Darwin
00:06 on the Stuart Highway, but not this weekend.
00:09 It is showtime and I tell you what, there is a crowd here today.
00:13 The population is usually around 10,000 people but that swells this weekend as people come
00:18 in from right across the region to enjoy the show.
00:21 In fact some people have travelled as far as 1,000km to be here.
00:25 We're talking about from cattle stations and also there's plenty of regional communities
00:29 around the area as well.
00:32 And I tell you what, one thing that they've come for is the cattle sales.
00:35 They're back after a 10 year break and we saw some pretty great prices on the cows going
00:39 at that auction there.
00:40 But no matter what you're here for, one thing everyone can enjoy is the food.
00:44 We're talking Dagwood dogs, we're talking fairy floss, we're talking ice slushies and
00:49 once you've loaded the kids up with all that sugar, well you take them over to Sideshow
00:52 Alley and you can watch it all come back up again.
00:55 But everyone's having a great time here at the Catherine show.
00:58 It is a real country fair sort of feel about it and with the weather, it's about 32 degrees
01:03 and sunny, if you're in Catherine, this is the place to be.
