Scorching temperatures are expected across southeast Queensland today to wrap up an unseasonably warm winter. The weather bureau's forecasting Brisbane will swelter through its hottest August day in 15 years.

00:27In the northwest, it's set to reach almost 40 degrees, that's more than 14 above the
00:33maximum average for this time of year.
00:36The Bureau says the hot conditions are set to stick around until Tuesday.
00:40Authorities are advising people to stay hydrated and wear lots of sunscreen.
00:46But for Queensland, they've definitely said goodbye to winter today.
