00:00 In the latest set of by-elections, at just 25 years old, Keir Mather became the youngest MP in the House of Commons.
00:07 But who is this new Labour MP? Born in Hull in 1998, Mr Mather grew up near Selby and went on to study history and politics at Oxford University.
00:16 He previously worked as a parliamentary researcher for Shadow Health Secretary Wes Streeting,
00:21 and more recently as a senior public affairs advisor at the Confederation of British Industry.
00:26 After winning his seat in the North Yorkshire constituency, he said he understood the enormity of what has just happened.
00:32 And after being asked how he felt about becoming the baby of the House, he joked that he had heard far worse.
00:38 Labour leader Keir Starmer said Mather would be a fantastic MP who will deliver the fresh start that Selby deserves.
