Keir Starmer has welcomed two new MPs into Parliament - including former Conservative MP Natalie Elphicke whose defection to Labour followed that of Dan Poulter two weeks ago.
The Labour leader asked the prime minister how many more times he'd have to be rejected by his own MPs until he 'takes the hint'. Report by Alibhaiz. Like us on Facebook at http://www.facebook.com/itn and follow us on Twitter at http://twitter.com/itn

00:00Mr. Speaker, can I warmly welcome the new member for Blackpool South, after the representation
00:08that Finetown has had recently, it's good to know they've got a proper champion back
00:12at last. Can I also warmly welcome the new Labour MP for Dover to these benches. Mr.
00:22Speaker, if one week a Tory MP who's also a doctor says the Prime Minister can't be
00:29trusted with the NHS and joins Labour, and the next week the Tory MP for Dover, on the
00:36front line of the small boats crisis, says the Prime Minister cannot be trusted with
00:41our borders and joins Labour, what is the point of this failed government staggering
00:48on? He's also lost 1,500 Tory councillors, half of his party's mayors, and a leadership
00:54election to a lettuce. How many more times do the public and his own MPs need to reject
01:02him before he takes the hint?
01:05Well, Mr. Speaker, this time last year, I reminded him of some advice, actually, from
01:12his own mentor, Tony Blair, who had said at the time that he can be as cocky as he likes
01:18about local elections, but come a general election, it's policy that counts, Mr. Speaker.
01:27One year on from that advice, what has he managed? £28 billion of tax rises, 70 new
01:36business regulations, 30 U-turns, and a deputy leader under a police investigation.
01:41Well, I'm surprised he brought up a police investigation. I think his record is played
01:48one, no, actually two, the seatbelt as well, played two, lost two in relation to police
01:53investigations. But it's the same, the public keep telling him, the voters tell him it's
01:59not good enough. Instead of listening, he keeps telling them everything's fine, if
02:03only they'd realise his greatness. He just doesn't get it.
