She is still a star on the current U.S. team at the Women's World Cup
Transcript
00:00 It's interesting, but merely coincidental, that Alex Morgan appears on our Cal 100 at
00:06 the same time that she's competing in her fourth World Cup with the United States in
00:13 Australia and New Zealand and played her first game the other day in a USA 3-0 victory over
00:20 Vietnam.
00:21 And it's also interesting that she missed a penalty kick in that game, which very rarely
00:25 happens, which I don't think it's going to tarnish her image at all.
00:31 I still expect her to be a goal scorer for the Americans.
00:35 If she goes without a goal in this World Cup, I'd be stunned.
00:39 And so would the rest of the US soccer world, I suppose.
00:44 But her influence in soccer is second to none, really, when you consider the book she's written
00:53 and the fight for equal pay and all those kinds of things.
00:57 And her ability with documentation to get the commissioner of the National Women's Soccer
01:06 League essentially fired.
01:08 She ended up resigning officially, but it was because of information provided by Morgan
01:13 that really led to that.
01:16 And then, of course, she's one of the best soccer players ever in the history of America.
01:21 And you could probably extend that to the world.
01:23 I don't know if she'd be in the top five or six, but she'd be up there, certainly.
01:28 Thank you.
