00:10 You hear rumors all the time about how he has won the locker room, and it just makes
00:16 you wonder exactly how much of a competition this is, because we've heard stories about
00:22 how Jackson Dart looked different in the spring, and how much improvement he looks like he
00:27 made in spring.
00:30 But yet, the one person that can absolutely kill this quarterback competition, if there
00:35 is not one, is not doing it.
00:38 And the reason I think that is because I think Spencer Sanders is a flight risk at this point.
00:45 Heck, I think Spencer Sanders is a flight risk until August 15th, August 16th.
00:52 And once you get past that, maybe at that point Lane Kiffin names a quarterback, but
00:57 at the beginning of fall camp he would be silly to do it, because if you can keep Spencer
01:01 Sanders here past about October 15th, I think you'll be in good shape.
01:06 Because in my opinion, whether he graduates or not, if he graduates that only means he
01:12 can transfer to an FBS program, but I think he can go to JSU and play a season for five
01:20 months right now.
01:22 And that is an option I think is always going to be on the table.
01:26 So, that is the reason I think that Lane Kiffin is so guarded in the conversation about competition.
01:36 Now, David Walker, I think that is Evie Van Pelt's husband, but he played football at
01:45 Texas A&M back in the 70s.
01:49 And he's really big on quarterback play, he's like the expert over there.
01:52 And he talks about how Matt Corral's QBR jumped from 80 to 89 in his second year under Lane
01:59 Kiffin and Jeff Lebby.
02:00 He improved his win total from 5 to 10 over one year, going into his second year.
02:06 Big things and big improvements are also expected of Jackson Dart.
02:09 Remember, I've talked about for 18 months how toolsy of a quarterback Jackson Dart is.
02:19 And there's just certain things that we want him to clean up.
02:22 Whenever we talk about issues that Jackson Dart has, it's never been a situation to where
02:27 he can't fix it, to where his development, he was a final product.
02:32 It was all just stuff that we wanted to see him do.
02:36 And we see the offense being built in a way, in year two, to where the running backs are
02:41 going to use, maybe take some pressure off the middle of the field, open that up a little
02:46 bit, spread some linebackers out, worrying about receivers out in the flat, catching
02:50 the ball.
02:51 Because like we've told you many, many, many times before, this offense, when it is running
02:58 best, is about torturing linebackers.
