00:00 Twitter has officially traded its iconic Bluebird logo for a black and white X, marking the
00:11 latest change to the social media platform since Elon Musk purchased it last year.
00:18 Musk announced the rebranding on Sunday, changing his profile to the X and posting promotional
00:24 videos of the new logo.
00:26 He also posted a photo on Monday of the new logo being projected onto Twitter's San Francisco
00:33 headquarters.
00:34 "Soon we shall bid adieu to the Twitter brand and gradually all the birds," Musk tweeted
00:40 on Sunday.
00:41 The X began to appear on the desktop version of Twitter on Monday, but the bird remained
00:47 the prominent logo on the mobile version.
00:50 Twitter CEO Linda also promoted the new logo on Monday, tweeting that, "X is here.
00:57 Let's do this."
00:58 She also said the new logo presents the future state of unlimited interactivity, centered
01:04 in audio, video, messaging, payments, banking, creating a global marketplace for ideas, goods,
01:11 services and opportunities.
01:14 Graphic designer Martin Kresser, who was part of the team that designed the Twitter's widely
01:19 recognized logo, posted a series of tweets on Sunday explaining how the bluebird came
01:25 to be.
01:26 He said his instructions were that it should be as good as the Apple and Nike logos.
01:32 "Today we say goodbye to the great bluebird," he tweeted.
01:36 This logo was designed in 2012 by a team of three.
01:40 The logo was designed to be simple, balanced and legible at very small sizes, almost like
01:46 a lowercase e.
01:47 "Sometime in March, we had an approved bird and it launched in May of 2012," he added.
01:54 This little bluebird did so much over the last 11 years.
01:58 The latest update is likely just the first step in Musk fully rebranding Twitter to X,
02:04 a move that experts say will probably confuse existing users.
02:09 Musk said that X.com web domain now redirects user to Twitter.com and that tweets will be
02:16 called Xs in the future.
02:18 Musk is also the CEO of Space Exploration Technologies Corporation, which is commonly
02:24 known as SpaceX.
02:26 And he calls his son X as a nickname as his son's actual name is a series of letters and
02:32 symbols.
