The summer holidays are finally here for Kent and the rest of the UK, not that you would know by looking out the window of late!

00:00 The Great British Summer. Chances are if you look out the window it's going to be grey
00:06 and gloomy. But that doesn't mean that you can't have fun. As the summer holidays begin
00:11 there's plenty to do both inside and out.
00:14 I'm here at the Museum of Kent Life, one of the many attractions throughout the county.
00:18 Now whilst I might be slightly unprepared in what I'm currently wearing, I've spoken
00:21 to some of the visitors who are a bit more prepared about what they're getting up to.
00:26 It's been my favourite part of the day, it's been when we were going on the tracks
00:32 ride.
00:33 Now we're on Cub Camp, Scout Camp, at Rosswood, which is only about 40 minutes away. So we
00:41 booked here because we do a charity every year and this year it's the Donkey Sanctuary.
00:46 So we've come to see the donkeys, because this is the closest one to us at camp.
00:51 We've been feeding animals and we've been seeing some of the circus and I like to see
00:59 all the people dancing.
01:01 Whilst the sun may be shining when you leave your home in the morning, the weather is unpredictable.
01:06 Luckily if you're caught out, find yourself indoor activities, whether it be art and crafts,
01:12 learning history or a nice warm cup of tea.
01:15 But the reality of the cost of living crisis is on many people's minds. So how will these
01:20 businesses help?
01:21 So obviously with the cost of living crisis we have noticed that our numbers have not
01:25 so much faltered, but we need to be more mindful about how much money families have got in
01:31 their pockets and their budgets.
01:32 So what we try and do, what we have done this year, we've kept our prices relatively low
01:37 in comparison to other attractions.
01:39 And we also put on lots and lots of entertainment. So mum, dad, carer, etc, grandma, grandad
01:45 can come along with a packed lunch if they want to. You can't bring your own food. If
01:50 you can bring your own food, you can basically tailor the day to any budget.
01:55 This scout leader explained why these kind of attractions are so important.
01:59 There are so many kids living in inner cities that don't get the chance to see where life
02:06 is, real life. I mean, living on farms or living in the wilderness, they don't get
02:12 that in London.
02:13 Kent Life has been a great example of the hundreds of attractions around the county.
02:18 Kent is rich with history and has plenty to offer for all occasions. From castles, cathedrals,
02:24 museums and more, the options are endless.
02:27 Cameron Noble for KMTV.
