00:00 "The bird has flown, and it did not take long."
00:04 Elon Musk on Monday unveiled the new "X" logo for Twitter, replacing the famous blue
00:09 bird. The big reveal came only hours after a Sunday tweet in which the billionaire said
00:14 he wanted to make the change.
00:17 His Twitter handle now features the new "X", as does that of the social network's CEO,
00:22 Linda Iaccarino. However, the blue bird was still widely visible across the platform.
00:28 The company had already changed its name to "XCorp".
00:32 That reflected Musk's desire to turn Twitter into a super app like China's WeChat, which
00:38 offers payments, shopping and other services. Now the re-brand is just the latest in a series
00:43 of abrupt moves by Musk since he took over. He's fired more than half the workforce and
00:49 slashed costs.
00:51 However, last week he said that the firm was still seeing negative cash flow, with ad spending
00:56 slow to recover from the turmoil that followed the takeover.
