While ex-Tropical Cyclone Alfred has dissipated it is still playing a role in severe weather in south-east QLD and north-east NSW. Video by the Bureau of Meteorology 9.30am March 10, 2025

00:00Hi, Miriam at the Bureau with a Monday morning update on ex-tropical cyclone Alfred.
00:06Ex-tropical cyclone Alfred is no longer being analysed as a closed low-pressure system.
00:10We're no longer seeing the tightly rotating clockwise winds wrapping around the remnants
00:15of the cyclone.
00:16Instead, we're seeing an area of low pressure lying across southeast inland Queensland.
00:22On the Bureau's pressure charts, it's now being analysed as a low-pressure trough, indicated
00:26with a blue dashed line.
00:28However, this low-pressure trough is still playing a part in the significant severe weather
00:33event that's still ongoing across southeast Queensland and northeast New South Wales.
00:39Winds wrapping around that low-pressure trough are combining with onshore flow.
00:43That is, flow that's moving from out over the ocean and pushing against the coast.
00:48Between the low-pressure trough and the onshore flow, we're continuing to see heavy rainfall,
00:53severe thunderstorms and significant flooding through much of southeast Queensland and northeast
00:57New South Wales.
00:59We'll bring you more information on that severe weather situation a little bit later today,
01:04but in the meantime you can find all of the latest forecasts and warnings via the Bureau's
01:07website or the BOM Weather app.
