Florida A&M Quarterback Jeremy Moussa At SWAC Media Day
Transcript
00:00 >> All right, Jeremy, obviously Florida has been in the news a lot for
00:03 reasons off the field, but how has that kind of brought the team together?
00:06 How have you guys communicated each other since the news kind of came out?
00:09 >> Yeah, I mean, we've always been a close group.
00:11 I think that we just took the punches and moved on.
00:15 Where we put that event past us and now we're looking forward to getting into camp
00:20 next week and focusing on the season.
00:22 >> Absolutely, now getting back to football, obviously you're coming in,
00:25 presumably the slight offensive player of the year, Natasha Drewsand is gone.
00:28 What do you think about that, do you have such high expectations for
00:31 yourself from the media and from the outside world?
00:34 >> Yeah, I mean, those accolades are nice and I appreciate it and
00:38 it's an honor to receive that.
00:40 But at the end of the day, I'm the person that's driving me, my family,
00:44 my coaches, my teammates.
00:46 So those are gonna be the same things that are driving me no matter if I was
00:50 given that honor or not.
00:52 So it's my job to play to my standard, my coach's standard, and
00:56 my team's standard so that we can ultimately reach our goal of winning
01:00 the SWAC championship in the celebration.
01:02 >> Absolutely, now obviously Xavier Smith is turned pro,
01:05 hoping to do great things in the NFL.
01:06 But in terms of you and your wide receiver,
01:08 how do you continue to foster that relationship with them getting ready for
01:11 2023?
01:12 >> Yeah, I think it's just about making consistent daily deposits,
01:16 getting with them every day.
01:17 Whether that be throwing routes on air, doing seven on seven against the defense,
01:22 having meetings in the office, going watching film.
01:26 And just developing on top of that a personal relationship because ultimately,
01:31 that bond is based on trust.
01:32 They need to trust that I'm gonna do my job and
01:35 I gotta trust that they're gonna do theirs.
01:36 So what better way to cultivate trust to have a real personal relationship with
01:41 that group?
01:42 >> Last question for me, obviously Kamar is the sheriff of Jacksonville State, but
01:45 there's still a lot of talent on the defense.
01:46 >> Yeah. >> You got Morgan,
01:47 you got Isaiah Major.
01:48 What should we expect from the Florida A&M defense getting ready for the fall?
01:52 >> I think we should expect the same thing as last year, if not better.
01:55 I mean, Kamar Stevens is a great player,
01:57 wish him nothing but the best at his new spot.
02:00 But we have guys that our linebacker core is deep, it's got a lot of depth,
02:06 it's got a lot of talent.
02:07 The back end, same thing, and we have some young guys on the D line,
02:11 General Hunt, Anthony Dunne looks to step up this year.
02:14 And we brought in a couple of transfers, so
02:16 it'll be exciting to see what they can do on the defensive line as well.
02:19 >> Thank you, Mr. Chairman.
