Transcript
00:00 Hi, I'm Laura Reid, the Deputy Features Editor at the Yorkshire Post.
00:04 Just thought I'd come on to talk you through this week's features that we've run online and in print.
00:10 There's plenty of long reads to be delving into and we've also got our Yorkshire Post magazine out on Saturday as part of the weekend edition.
00:20 At the start of the week we heard from the owner of the Stripy Badger bookshop in Grassington.
00:27 The shop features in the Channel 5 series of all creatures great and small and the owner there has created a space in the premises dedicated to memorabilia tied to the show.
00:39 We also heard from SAS Who dares wins star Billy Billingham about his military career and then his life as a bodyguard for some of the world's most famous people including Brad Pitt.
00:50 He's got some show dates coming up in York and Harrogate.
00:58 We caught up with a Sheffield girl ball player who's going to be representing Great Britain in the world's largest sporting event for blind and partially sighted athletes.
01:09 And we also heard from one Yorkshire man who told us how he has lived his life on the edge waiting to see if he develops the fatal disease CJD.
01:19 We spoke to some of the riders taking part in this year's Joe Cox Way that's the annual five day bike ride from Yorkshire to London.
01:28 And it's all about bringing people together in memory of the late Batley and Spen MP who was murdered back in 2016.
01:37 And we spoke to the organisers of Grassington's first ever LGBTQ pride event taking place this Saturday.
01:45 And finally in arts and culture we explored a poetry collection that traces the history of the relationship between human beings and dogs.
01:53 And we looked at Sheffield Theatre's new production of the controversial musical Miss Saigon.
01:59 We've also recently launched our Yorkshire lifestyle newsletter.
02:04 So do consider signing up to that if you'd like to hear more about some of the highlights from the features team each week.
02:10 And that'll be magazine content, theatre and restaurant reviews, property, fashion, health and much more.
02:19 Thank you.
