00:02 - Baon kasi is also not only just baon,
00:06 the food that they eat,
00:07 but it's also a way of introducing proper nutrition
00:10 to our children and also build healthy eating habits.
00:14 So today, ang isyashare natin ay,
00:16 ano ba yung mga baon ideas natin that will be like that?
00:20 (upbeat music)
00:22 Ano ang susunod natin, Miss Georgia?
00:27 Mayroon pa tayong isang recipe, di ba?
00:29 - Mayroon pa tayo, parang two in one siya actually.
00:30 We're going to make onigiri or rice balls.
00:34 - Oh! - Yes.
00:34 - Onigiri!
00:35 - Wow! - You like that?
00:37 - Love! - Favorite, okay!
00:39 Here is what you'll need to make the onigiri.
00:42 (upbeat music)
00:44 - So this is Japanese rice, na we already cooked this.
00:50 - Yes, very sticky, that's why it can make sushi.
00:53 - Yeah.
00:54 - Actually, onigiri is a very,
00:57 yung di mo lang ma, ano no, di mo mapapansin,
01:00 medyo complete na pala yung meal na yan.
01:02 - What's so funny is, onigiri is like sushi, but bigger.
01:07 - Correct. - But you only get one of it,
01:08 and then sushi, they give you like the four pieces.
01:09 - May like itito mga anak mo sa sushi.
01:11 We have our little helpers today.
01:13 These are our onigiri makers,
01:15 so that we don't have to do everything by hand.
01:17 - Wow, okay.
01:18 - Yeah, so we have a small one, like this.
01:20 - Gagaling talaga na yung big one, no?
01:23 - Japanese invention.
01:24 - Yeah, let's start.
01:25 So the trick to handling sticky Japanese rice
01:29 is getting your hands wet.
01:31 - You wanna follow?
01:31 - So let's just, yeah.
01:32 Okay.
01:34 - Okay. - Okay na yan.
01:35 - All right, so okay na.
01:36 You follow Miss Georgia.
01:39 - I'll add in the rice,
01:41 and what I want you to do is push it down.
01:43 - Yan. - Yan.
01:44 Or you can use this also.
01:46 So we'll wet this, and then you use this to press it down.
01:50 Press, press.
01:51 - Alam mo yung anak ko, ano yan?
01:53 - Alam niya pag-gluten free.
01:55 - Wow.
01:56 - Alam niya pag-sugar free, ganun.
01:58 I mean, like he's a foodie, but he's so aware,
02:00 and I think it's the generation talaga now,
02:02 kasi information age.
02:03 Ay, ang galing naman, no?
02:04 (laughs)
02:06 O di ba?
02:06 Ako yung na-aloo.
02:07 (laughs)
02:08 - Pen rest.
02:09 Ganun nang pala yun.
02:10 Maka-bili nga ng sampu nito.
02:12 - Right, okay.
02:13 - Maybe you wanna get something like that?
02:15 Maybe we could make this everyday.
02:16 - We'll put a little hole here,
02:19 and then you put, you add your tuna.
02:21 Yan.
02:22 So you put it there.
02:23 - Yay!
02:24 - So we don't wanna put too much.
02:26 - Sayan.
02:27 - Masaya tayo.
02:27 - Sayan nga.
02:28 - I love it.
02:29 - Actually, it's very healthy naman what you're making now.
02:31 So you like healthy food, actually, silly.
02:34 - Ayan.
02:35 - And then cover it with rice?
02:36 - Yes, cover it with rice.
02:37 - It's like a tuna sandwich, but with less tuna.
02:39 - But do you remember that we would make this a camping?
02:41 Like we would put whatever we want inside of the rice,
02:45 and then we wrap it with the seaweed wrapper.
02:49 Okay.
02:50 - Yan.
02:51 - Okay, let me see.
02:52 Are you ready?
02:53 Are you ready?
02:54 - So cool!
02:54 I wanna buy this!
02:56 (laughs)
02:57 - Okay.
02:57 - Tadah!
02:58 - Oh!
02:59 - Okay.
03:00 - Wow, okay.
03:01 - Ayan.
03:02 - So are we gonna wrap this pa, or no?
03:03 - So we can wrap this.
03:04 - Hang it again, yes.
03:05 - Pwede yung ganyan na sya.
03:07 Let's show it to the, ayan.
03:08 - You know, some have medyo parang toasted rice.
03:11 So you can toast this pa, no?
03:13 - You can like put it on a,
03:15 pwede nga air fryer if you don't wanna fry it, eh.
03:17 - Really?
03:18 - Just coat it with a bit of oil.
03:20 - Oh my gosh.
03:21 - Ay, ay akong kalso.
03:22 (laughs)
03:23 - That's so easy.
03:23 - Pero, pwede rin sa nasa taiba.
03:25 - Ano nga kasi, ang importante rin sa mga nanay,
03:27 hindi lang yung healthy eh,
03:29 pero yung gano'n baka dalim dawin.
03:31 - The easiest one is you can just roll it.
03:34 - Oh, you try it.
03:35 - You roll it.
03:36 - You roll it, ganon?
03:36 - Oo.
03:37 You can do this the side.
03:39 - Careful with our hands.
03:41 - Ganyan.
03:42 - You can do it all the way around, diba?
03:44 - Why am I so impressed?
03:45 (laughs)
03:47 - And then we have also our nori.
03:49 - Nori flakes.
03:49 - Okay.
03:50 - Nori flakes, nori sheets, right?
03:52 You can also, what do you do with that?
03:55 - Just stick it in there.
03:57 - Ah, pwede.
03:58 - Like this.
03:59 - Ay, ang galing.
03:59 - 'Cause it's so, 'cause it's so--
04:01 - 'Cause it's very, very sticky.
04:03 - Also, I ran out of water.
04:04 - You ran out of water?
04:05 Here's more water.
04:06 Oh.
04:07 (clinks)
04:08 - 'Yan.
04:08 - All right, okay, that is so cool.
04:11 - See, and this is, and you made this.
04:13 - Wow, Phillip, you made this.
04:15 - You made it.
04:16 (upbeat music)
04:18 (upbeat music)
04:21 (speaks in foreign language)
04:27 And while we're waiting for that,
04:31 to our SP moms and dads out there,
04:33 (speaks in foreign language)
04:37 So we need creative ways to give food to our children.
04:42 And you know, one of the most creative ways
04:44 that have been, well, discovered, not invented
04:47 in the past few years, is yung magbento baon.
04:51 So mayroon tayong mga, a couple of parents
04:54 na nakapag-share sa atin sa ating smart parenting village
04:58 about the bento baon ideas.
05:00 And one of them is actually a smart parenting mom,
05:03 Miss Giselle Ona, who's going to teach us today,
05:05 kung gusto niyo matutun yan, ha,
05:07 ng bento baon styling.
05:10 Ano ba yan, Mommy Giselle?
05:12 Let's go.
05:12 - Hello, Mommy Rika, and hello, Georgia.
05:14 I'm Mommy Giselle, and for today,
05:16 I'm going to share with you some bento styling tips
05:18 for beginners.
05:20 Generally, there are three tips that I will share with you
05:23 with regard to bento styling, and these are the tips.
05:25 For tip number one, basically,
05:27 you need the tools for bento styling.
05:30 Meron talaga tayo mga basic tools.
05:32 I have here some cutters.
05:34 Tapos, kung halimbawa lang, limited lang yung cutters
05:37 na meron ka sa bahay, make use of what you have at home.
05:40 For instance, yung circle, kung wala ka nung circle cutter,
05:43 use a baso.
05:44 So be resourceful, be creative.
05:46 Kung san-tells, makakatip-fit,
05:47 whatever works for you, do it.
05:49 Aside from the cutters, we also have mga cups
05:53 to separate the food items from each other.
05:55 Tapos, iba't-iba rin yung colors at shapes na magagamit mo.
05:58 Aside from that, meron tayong mga food picks.
06:02 For others, kung hindi kayo gagamit naman
06:05 ng mga vegetables for adding color to your food,
06:08 they use, eto, mga baran or dividers.
06:11 Rainbow, tapos, ito yung usually nakikita nyo siguro
06:13 sa mga sushi.
06:14 Tapos, syempre, you need your chopping board
06:17 for cutting the shape.
06:18 Kung wala kayong molders, yung cling wrap.
06:21 That also works for molding.
06:22 You just mold it by hand para na kayong nag-work with it.
06:26 So those are the tools that you need for bento style.
06:29 All right, and most important of all,
06:31 syempre, you need the baonan itself, yung lunchbox.
06:34 Eto, meron iba't-iba kasi.
06:36 Syempre, kung big eater yung anak mo,
06:38 you stick with something as big as this.
06:40 Kung, mabawa, small eater naman sya
06:42 or snack lang naman yung dadalhin nya sa school,
06:44 this will do.
06:45 For tip number two,
06:48 it's very important that you know how to plan
06:50 the bento lunchbox.
06:52 How are you going to style it?
06:53 Pero ang pila importante sa lahat
06:55 is the one who's going to eat
06:56 the food that you will prepare,
06:58 the child.
06:59 Tapos, ano ba yung mga food preferences nya?
07:01 Mahilig mo sya sa fruits, sa vegetables,
07:03 ano in particular?
07:04 Yung gusto nya, dapat lagi ka nang may stock nyan.
07:06 Aside pa dun sa mga food that you will prepare,
07:09 ano ba yung kailangan mo i-prepare ahead of time?
07:12 Or kalimbawa naman, yung tools din.
07:14 Syempre importante, lalo kung ito kadami yung tools mo,
07:17 diba?
07:17 Sa umaga pa lang, lalagyan mo na kagad yan,
07:19 "Ah, okay, gagawa pala ako ng rice meal for my child."
07:22 So, giniwa ko na 'to.
07:24 Tapos, may sos yung pagkain nya, yung bao nya,
07:27 ito lalagay ko na din.
07:28 Tapos, yung food, ililista or ilalagyan mo na kagad yan
07:31 sa harapan mo,
07:32 para pagbangon mo the next day,
07:34 when you prepare your food for your child,
07:35 assembly na lang.
07:36 Okay, last tip, tip number three,
07:39 the keyword here is balance.
07:40 When I speak of balance,
07:42 we should consider the balance of color,
07:44 texture ng food,
07:46 also the taste,
07:47 atsaka yung shapes.
07:48 Kasi that's what makes your bento box
07:51 interesting and visually appealing.
07:53 Ito yung ulam na gagamitin natin for our bento box.
07:56 The Filipino-style barbecue meatballs,
07:59 kailangan natin ng rice for this.
08:01 Tapos, kapag pumipili tayo ng rice for bento making
08:04 or bento building,
08:05 as much as possible sana,
08:07 yung sticky, kasi it forms easily.
08:09 But if you don't have sticky rice,
08:11 you just make use of your rice molds.
08:14 Kapag may rice mold na gaya nito,
08:17 it forms easily naman.
08:18 So using the spoon,
08:20 just fill it up with rice.
08:22 Make sure na wala ang empty space
08:24 para well-formed yung cat.
08:26 We're actually making a cat right now.
08:28 Yung ears, yung corners.
08:30 Kapag medyo overflowing na,
08:31 I think that's enough na.
08:33 Once it's filled up like this,
08:34 pasok mo lang sya dun sa slot.
08:36 Using the cover,
08:37 press it down as hard as you can.
08:39 Kapag inangat mo yan,
08:40 formed na yung rice.
08:42 So ito na yung cat natin.
08:44 We'll be using this bento box.
08:47 Ang maganda dito,
08:49 may partition na sya.
08:50 Mas kunti na lang yung space
08:52 na kailangan may fill up.
08:53 Kasi pag nagbe-bento,
08:54 dapat as much as possible,
08:56 don't leave an empty space.
08:58 Otherwise, magka-tumbling-tumbling lang
09:00 yung food items sa loob.
09:01 Eto, since yung rice natin is color white,
09:03 we want to make it pop
09:04 by using something healthy
09:06 like itong lettuce.
09:08 Next would be
09:09 the typical details na ginagamit
09:12 using nori.
09:13 So using the cutter,
09:14 makikita niyo yan,
09:15 it's serrated.
09:16 So mas madali yung pag-cut ng details.
09:19 For the eyes,
09:21 press down mo lang
09:22 using your finger.
09:23 Ito yung nose.
09:26 You just follow the pattern
09:28 dun sa pinag-punchan mo ng detail.
09:31 Try to be gentle when you form the shapes.
09:34 Aside from nori,
09:35 yung iba ginagamit din nila ham or cheese.
09:38 Para iba din yung color nalalabas.
09:41 So we're done with the rice.
09:43 May carbs ka na.
09:44 For the protein naman,
09:46 we'll be using our meatballs.
09:50 Pwede mo syang lagyan ng dividers
09:52 kung gusto mo may pop-off color.
09:53 Pero kung marami ka namang vegetables on hand,
09:57 then you don't really need that.
09:58 Lagay mo lang.
09:59 Tapos pala with bento,
10:02 you have to build it up.
10:03 Hindi kasi sya pwedeng flat.
10:05 So when you put the elements in your lunchbox,
10:10 kailangan pataas sya.
10:11 As I've said,
10:11 there should be a balance of colors,
10:13 textures, and shapes.
10:15 Rectangle naman yung gagamitin ko.
10:16 And then that's where you can put
10:18 the vegetable,
10:19 pwede din kamatis.
10:20 Tapos sisingit mo na lang dyan mamaya
10:22 'cause we have sauce also for our barbecue meatballs.
10:26 Lalagay lang din natin yan dito sa side.
10:28 Now, to make it more exciting and appealing,
10:32 that's when you put small details using the bento picks.
10:37 Eto, meron pala akong nak-pre-cut kanina.
10:40 Fish for the cat using carrots.
10:42 So yung mga slices of carrots,
10:45 ginamitan ko lang sya
10:46 noong tool na ginamit din natin kanina na cutter.
10:49 Tapos like what I've said a while ago,
10:52 mas maganda kung puno sya.
10:54 So for this, I think,
10:56 I'd like to put another color.
10:59 Shade of red naman tayo.
11:01 Yung grapes, you can put it just as it is.
11:03 Pwede rin yan, may shapes din.
11:06 Pero I'd like to put it just as it is for now.
11:09 Lastly, the bento picks.
11:11 Etong meatballs, I'd like to put some ice to it.
11:15 So there you have it.
11:17 You just put all the endevans in
11:19 and you already have your
11:20 Filipino-style barbecue meatball den.
11:22 Thank you, Mommy Giselle!
11:27 And now, back to what we were doing.
11:29 Fry it.
11:30 We're gonna try it na.
11:31 Ready na ang frittata!
11:33 Now, we have to answer the question.
11:44 Is it yummy?
11:45 For me, it's yummy.
11:46 I like eggs a lot and I like bell peppers.
11:50 And it got a big chunk of cheese in mine too.
11:52 What about you, Phillip?
11:53 I don't know.
11:56 You wanna eat a little?
11:56 Thank you so much!
11:59 Now, it's time to try your onigiri.
12:03 Ready, ready?
12:05 Kanino pa na yung mita?
12:06 Okay, game.
12:07 That's exactly what you've made, right?
12:09 Are you happy?
12:10 Is it yummy?
12:12 Big bite!
12:14 Okay, ako din!
12:17 That's the tuna one.
12:18 I want to answer.
12:19 Favorite for me to eh.
12:20 You know when you go to Japan, di ba?
12:22 Yung parang sa mga, ano nila,
12:24 konbini, konbini, konbini.
12:26 Oo, yung mga convenience stores nila.
12:28 Yeah, gusto ako.
12:29 And gusto ko lang i-break apart.
12:32 Ya, ano nga 'to ulit?
12:34 Sorry.
12:34 Ito yung chorizo.
12:35 Chorizo na.
12:36 Yeah.
12:36 So actually, we have more recipes like this.
12:39 If you want, you can fill it up with salmon,
12:41 you can fill it up with chorizo.
12:42 Try it!
12:43 Oo, you can, whatever you wanna put inside.
12:46 Yes.
12:47 And if you're like a vegetarian, you can also just put in non-meat, non-seafood.
12:51 Yeah, you can put tofu, you can put vegetables.
12:54 And we've got all of these recipes at yum.ph.
12:58 Thank you, Georgia, for being with us today
13:00 and sharing those recipes.
13:02 And thank you to my sous-chef now customer.
