00:00 Hi there, it's John Blow from the Yorkshire Post Features Team. I'm going to be taking you through some of the things coming up in the week ahead.
00:06 Tomorrow will be Yorkshire Day, which takes place on 1st August every year.
00:10 It's a celebration enjoyed across the city centres, towns and rural landscapes.
00:15 It was first celebrated in 1975 by the Yorkshire Riding Society, however it wasn't an official event until 1985 when it first took place in York.
00:25 Every year the host city or town is changed and this time it's the turn of Rotherham in South Yorkshire.
00:32 Also from tomorrow, the Alcohol Duty system will be intact in all alcoholic drinks based on their alcohol by volume, replacing four separate taxes.
00:40 The new system is expected to lead to at least a £1 increase on a bottle of gin or vodka and £1 per bottle of wine when duty is increased by 20% plus VAT.
00:51 Elsewhere, more agricultural shows will be happening. Emily's Show will take place at Factory Farm and Huddersfield in West Yorkshire on Saturday.
00:59 And in North Yorkshire, the Talkwith Show will be back on Sunday.
01:03 Also at the weekend, quality live music is in store at festivals such as Underneath the Stars with headliners scouting for girls, The Shires and Kate Rusby.
01:13 Going ahead in Barnsley, over the same days, Bingley Festival will present the likes of Noel Gallagher's Hifeline Birds, Ian Brown and Travis.
