00:00 >> I feel good, I feel like a long time coming.
00:02 We took it at a perfect pace, even right from the start.
00:06 Just missed it so much and I'm just happy to be out here to start getting back into
00:10 practice flow, game flow, just to be out here working with my team.
00:13 I missed it a lot and happy to be a part of the team.
00:16 >> Was there a moment where you felt like basically you were back,
00:19 where you felt like you're all set up out there?
00:21 >> I've been feeling like that for a minute.
00:24 All that running and all the changing directions that I've been doing with
00:27 the trainers helped me get a level of confidence in myself.
00:31 So it just a matter of getting out here going against the offensive type will get
00:34 less pressure against me while I'm trying to turn the corner.
00:36 Once I was able to do that and feel left and then maintain, I didn't feel anything.
00:41 It felt normal, so I'm ready to go.
00:43 I'm as close to 100% as possible as can be with a couple days in the camp.
00:48 >> Obviously, during the off season, you had the loss of your daughter.
00:54 How were you doing and how is your family helping you with all this happening?
00:59 >> This is a daily battle, tough battle.
01:02 The day I felt the heavier the day than I did the last couple days.
01:06 It just comes in waves.
01:08 We just talk to each other, talk through it with each other and
01:11 just lean on each other, get ourselves through it, and lean on the Lord as well.
01:16 But it don't get any easier.
01:19 It's just me being busy, keep my mind off of it for a little bit.
01:23 But it's just tough, it's always gonna be tough.
01:27 >> Can football help you to have kind of the normalcy of a practice of what you
01:31 know out here to not dwell on when you're going to have to think about things like
01:35 that, has that helped?
01:36 >> Yeah, cuz this morning, it was hitting me hard this morning,
01:39 and having to get ready for practice.
01:41 I'm gonna get my mind off it a little bit, but
01:43 then just having to focus on something else.
01:45 Cuz I got a lot of time in a day when I'm just in my head thinking about stuff and
01:49 thinking about her, so having to actually think about what I'm doing.
01:53 Like writing a mom helps me out a lot, and
01:55 helps the family out a lot when we doing stuff trying to stay busy.
01:58 >> How do you even manage to, when you have those days, to get out of bed and
02:03 let alone come to work and have to give it your all,
02:06 especially when your heart might be in another place?
02:09 >> It's good for my life that I have to do that because as hard as it is,
02:16 I hate being sad and feeling down and sad all the time.
02:19 Even though I love feeling those feelings for
02:22 her because she's a big part of our family.
02:24 But I like just getting out of it, just having to come to practice,
02:29 having to get my mind off it, it's good for me.
02:31 And I just, cuz I'm home enough during the day, I got enough downtime where I
02:37 think about it enough all the time, so having something to do to take my mind off
02:40 of it, it just helps a lot.
02:42 I just appreciate to be back, be able to do everything again, and
02:47 just do everything a little bit harder for her cuz she's not able to be here.
02:51 And it's just tough too cuz it's been her first camp that she would have needed to
02:55 actually come to and actually remember.
02:58 I thought about that's what made it a little bit harder.
03:00 It didn't just the first day my family came, the day.
03:03 So just having something to my mind off of it is real good for me,
03:07 real beneficial for me.
03:09 >> For those of us that never had a chance to meet her,
03:11 what was she like?
03:13 >> She was the best.
03:14 She was literally the best, everything all around, smile, her personality.
03:20 Even when she's been naughty, she still was so cute.
03:22 She was smart, she knew exactly what she shouldn't be doing.
03:25 And then she stopped doing it and then go back and try doing it.
03:28 It was just, yeah, I could go on and on forever and ever about it.
03:32 It's just her smile, I miss so much her energy.
03:34 Like putting her to bed every night, reading stories.
03:38 She was so much like brightness and wholeness and completeness to our lives.
03:45 And we most definitely have a big, big, big, big, big hole in our hearts and
03:50 our lives that we won't be able to fill.
03:53 But we still got our other three kids that still helping us fill the void a little.
03:57 And then we got another baby on the way that should help a little bit too, but
03:59 we know it's never gonna be the same without her.
04:02 It's always sad cuz she would have been the best big sister as well.
04:05 It's just, it's bittersweet, it's bittersweet.
04:09 Cuz I know she's in a better place, but I 100% prefer her to be here with us
04:13 selfishly.
04:14 Yeah, it's just, Tom, it's just a lot, it's a lot that goes on throughout the day.
04:20 >> Check what happened is very common, especially in this state.
