00:00 Some of this pattern is ever the same,
00:03 including the big dome of heat across the southern states
00:07 and including the thunderstorms surrounding that heat.
00:10 You can see the moisture here on satellite and radar
00:13 carried through the central plains
00:15 and look through central Missouri.
00:17 We have had some soaking thunderstorms
00:19 and flash flooding across the center of the state
00:22 throughout the day today.
00:23 And unfortunately that risk doesn't go away
00:25 later this week.
00:27 We are looking at more rounds of thunderstorms
00:29 around the periphery of that heat
00:31 all the way through the end of the week,
00:33 stretching from Omaha to Des Moines,
00:35 St. Joseph back to St. Louis,
00:37 Nashville, Evansville, Springfield, all in green,
00:41 as we're watching that risk for flooding and flash flooding
00:44 with those intense thunderstorms.
00:46 How much rain could we see?
00:47 Well, this is the general outlook here.
00:50 You can see around St. Louis and Knoxville,
00:52 those two bullseyes in forest green.
00:54 We're looking at four to eight inches of rain
00:57 with the rounds of thunderstorms on tap.
00:59 Omaha looking more in the way of two to four inches of rain
01:02 and Nashville more of the same.
01:03 In the neon green, it's one to two inches
01:05 for cities like Louisville.
01:07 Regardless of the numbers, we are concerned
01:10 about isolated areas of flooding and flash flooding.
01:12 We're also concerned today about isolated areas
01:15 of severe weather, not to rub salt in the wound,
01:17 but we are concerned with more in the way of hail
01:20 and damaging gusty winds in cities like Des Moines,
01:23 Kansas City, back up to Scotts Bluff,
01:25 Sioux Falls, Rapid City, and Denver.
01:28 And then there's the area to the north
01:29 from Eastern Montana, stretching across I-90 and I-94
01:33 into Bismarck and Grand Forks as well.
01:36 Again, it's all three threats here,
01:38 flash flooding, hail, and damaging gusty winds.
01:40 Let's play out the clock here,
01:42 and you'll see these storms really start to get going
01:44 into the afternoon today.
01:46 Watch the area on the front range of the Rockies,
01:48 cities like Denver, the Colorado Springs,
01:51 out toward Pueblo, seeing those storms develop
01:53 toward 4.30, 5.30, 6.30 p.m.
01:56 And then to the north, the storms start to get going
01:58 as well into Eastern Montana.
02:00 We've already had some reports of gusty winds
02:02 this morning in Montana, so to see more,
02:04 even stretching into North Dakota,
02:06 would not be a surprise, even later in the evening.
02:08 Here's 8.30 on the clock,
02:09 and the storms are still very much going on
02:12 across both sections of the country we're concerned about
02:14 for the spotty severe weather today.
02:17 Even late on Tuesday night,
02:18 so late tonight into Wednesday morning,
02:21 we see this complex hold on, just like we saw this morning.
02:25 This time, though, stretching from Eastern Nebraska
02:27 back to Central Iowa, and all the way down
02:29 through the northeast corner of Missouri.
02:31 Again, it's like rinse and repeat here across the country.
02:34 On that note, here's Denver.
02:36 Rinse and repeat, you betcha.
02:37 We have more in the way of thunderstorms
02:39 on Wednesday and Thursday,
02:41 and looking at Wednesday specifically,
02:43 it's another round of severe weather on tap
02:45 for Denver, Colorado.
02:47 Make sure you're staying weather aware.
