Transcript
00:00 >> All right, so what does it mean for you to be part of the NBPA HEC Utah?
00:05 >> It means a lot.
00:06 I'm glad to get down here, see these guys.
00:08 I know they'll get a lot of attention throughout the year, put a lot of hard
00:11 work, it's good to be hands on with them.
00:14 I'm able to work on my coaching side as well.
00:17 It's been great, guys coming out, put a lot of energy into it and
00:19 they'll take advantage of the situation.
00:21 >> Absolutely, now of course, I learned yesterday that you wanna go into
00:25 a coaching career now, your same career is mostly over.
00:28 What inspired you to kind of get into coaching?
00:30 >> I play for a lot of great coaches.
00:31 We've been here in Atlanta playing for Coach Bud,
00:33 Quinn Snyder who's the Atlanta head coach now, Brad Stevens.
00:37 I think I picked up a lot of information throughout the years.
00:40 Playing for these guys, I'm gonna be able to share that knowledge and
00:42 I think I can connect with players really well.
00:44 Playing on multiple teams, having multiple teammates and
00:47 being in different situations.
00:48 I think I can help these guys out, understand to get them to the next level.
00:52 >> Now, where have you coached up to now?
00:55 Where do you plan to coach going forward, whether it's high school, college or
00:58 professional?
00:58 >> Currently, I haven't really did too much coaching.
01:01 I'm trying it out, see if I really enjoy it, like it or not.
01:05 So never know where it can go, I have some opportunities, but
01:08 I just love to be around the game.
01:10 Once you're done playing, find out a way to stay around, so it's been good.
01:14 >> Last question about the camps.
01:16 The narrative is, HGCU Athletics is such a dispair between them and
01:20 everybody else in college.
01:21 >> [APPLAUSE] >> So what do you see on the camp here
01:23 from these players?
01:24 What do you say about the talent you've witnessed the past couple of days?
01:27 >> The talent's been great, phenomenal.
01:29 I really don't believe that narrative, coming from a mid-major at that highest
01:33 level.
01:34 The biggest difference is kinda sometimes in bigs and the height, but
01:37 the guard play, the skill level, everyone's trained, working on the game,
01:41 the craft, these guys have game.
01:43 You can see it, I think having more cameras out, being in a situation here with
01:47 the NBPA, show some light on it, but help these guys out in the future.
