00:00 So far, at least five people have been killed in the communal flare-ups that first erupted
00:07 in Haryana's Nuh on Monday and then spread to Gurugram yesterday.
00:12 The Haryana government has said that it has filed a total of 44 FIRs and 80 people have
00:16 been arrested so far.
00:18 To bring the situation under control, mobile internet services have been suspended in Nuh
00:22 and Faridabad up to Wednesday.
00:24 Also, the authorities have imposed Section 144 in the adjoining districts.
00:29 The repercussions of Monday's communal clash also extended to Sector 70 in Gurugram, situated
00:35 less than even 20 km from the national capital, New Delhi.
00:39 On Tuesday night, a shop and several shanties near a residential complex were torched by
00:44 an enraged group of people.
00:46 In this video, let's take a quick look at what exactly happened that has made the situation
00:50 so alarming.
00:53 It all started with a religious procession in Nuh.
00:55 A religious procession was attacked as a mob tried to stop a Vishwa Hindu Parishad's procession,
01:01 pelting stones and setting cars on fire.
01:03 Two home guards were killed and many others, including several policemen, were injured
01:07 in the incident.
01:08 According to some claims, the trigger for the violence was an objectionable video posted
01:13 on social media in Ballavgarh.
01:15 The cops have now booked Dinesh Bharti, the leader of the right-wing Jai Bharat Mata Vahini,
01:21 for allegedly posting the said video.
01:24 Reports claimed that Monu Manesar, a well-known cow vigilante linked to the Bajrang Dal, had
01:29 previously released video messages announcing his intention to join that yatra.
01:34 However, he refrained from participating upon the advice of the BHP as they were concerned
01:39 that his presence might escalate tensions.
01:41 Nonetheless, a rumour about his presence became the catalyst for the outbreak of violence.
01:46 The tension further escalated after an armed mob attacked a mosque and killed a 23-year-old
01:52 man sleeping inside while one was grievously injured in Gurugram.
01:56 Later, a group of 100 people targeted the Anjuman Masjid in Gurugram Sector 57.
02:02 Police said that the slogan-shouting mob pelted stones and opened fire at the four people
02:06 inside the mosque.
02:07 The attackers also fired upon policemen who had reached the mosque.
02:11 Police somehow managed to rescue two men as the mob set fire to the mosque.
02:16 Then yesterday, a group of individuals chanting Jai Shri Ram slogans set fire to a roadside
02:22 eatery in Gurugram's Badshahpur.
02:24 Besides, some shops in the nearby market were also vandalised during the incident.
02:29 The Gurugram police have urged people not to pay any heed to rumours being disseminated
02:34 on social media and to dial 112 in case of any help.
02:38 They have also asserted that there have been no major incidents but incidents of arson
02:42 and skirmishes only so far.
02:45 In the aftermath of this, tensions are high and the region of Delhi NCR is also on very
02:50 high alert.
