00:00 With the year countdown beginning for Paris 2024, there are more new stories emerging every day.
00:08 Paris will allow people to swim in the Sien following the Olympics for the first time in more than 100 years.
00:15 One of Team GB's most decorative divers, Tom Daly, will make a return to the sport after a two-year break
00:22 following a plea from his five-year-old son, who said he wants to see his dad dive at the Olympics.
00:27 Local TV sports sat down with Olympians and Paralympians to look back on their most memorable games
00:33 and look ahead to Paris 2024.
00:37 It's one of the best experiences of my life, in my playing career, absolutely,
00:41 because to be surrounded among so many unbelievable athletes across sports as well
00:48 is not something any athlete gets to do, or any person, on a day-to-day basis.
00:53 Being a host, Olympics, for the very first time in our history as a sport, was incredible.
01:01 And the kind of audiences that we actually got for some of our games, playing at Wembley, was just fantastic.
01:09 I can't even describe the emotions, the atmosphere, you know, was incredible.
01:15 I'm pretty excited for Paris. I'm not too sure what I'm going to race there yet,
01:20 but I'm not also super bothered about it.
01:23 I'm just excited to hopefully be able to make the team and have that opportunity.
01:28 I am excited to kind of start training again in September.
01:32 Obviously, this year is a bit different because I'm kicking it off with a channel swim,
01:37 which I've not done before, obviously.
01:40 So my kind of aerobic base will probably be a bit better than it normally is at the start of the season
01:45 because of that and the training going into it.
01:47 So I'm excited to see how the season starts for Paris and then just, yeah, just go with the flow and see where it takes me.
01:54 Yeah, so I took last year out and I needed some time away,
01:59 but I've come back now and I really have my sights set on 2024.
02:05 The way that the team performed last year at the World Championships,
02:09 throughout the World Cup Series and Europeans was just fantastic.
02:13 I think they topped the medal table, lots of medals and really good positivity.
02:20 So I think the team are in a really, really good place and I can only really see that getting better.
02:26 So, yeah, I think we're in a positive place and the training is going well
02:31 and we just need to see where things are this summer because this is qualification.
02:36 We need to get as many boats qualified as we can and then win the medals.
02:42 And then the following year, we need to qualify ourselves to get our bums on those seats.
02:46 With some of the athletes we spoke to gearing up to take on Paris next year
02:51 and others firmly now looking towards being a spectator and spurring on the next generation of athletes.
02:58 With their support and guidance, it's sure to be another special Games for Great Britain.
