00:00 Hey, this is Stephen Curry
00:01 and this is Wired Autocomplete Interview.
00:03 [upbeat music]
00:06 Alrighty.
00:07 [upbeat music]
00:10 What is Stephen Curry's highest scoring game?
00:14 62 points in the NBA a couple years ago.
00:17 There was a lot of chatter just around,
00:19 you know, post championship run reality of,
00:23 you know, our new team and roster
00:25 and how it's being defended and all that.
00:26 I heard it all and then had the game of my life.
00:29 I felt like I couldn't miss.
00:30 What is Stephen Curry's favorite kind of play?
00:34 Ooh, that's a good question.
00:35 Sounds like a game winning shot.
00:37 I'd say probably like a four point play,
00:39 you know, getting fouled on a three point line
00:41 and knocking down a shot 'cause I get to do my count
00:43 and have a little fun with it.
00:44 What is Stephen Curry's vertical jump?
00:48 That is a great question that I don't even know
00:50 if I know the answer to.
00:51 I think back in 2009 when I went through the pre-draft
00:55 combine, I think it was like 28, 32 maybe.
00:59 Doesn't really matter now, I play below the rim.
01:01 What does Steph Curry eat before a game?
01:04 It's usually like grilled chicken, some pasta,
01:08 a couple of veggies.
01:09 It's way better when Aisha cooks it though.
01:11 You know, just try to have a little bit of protein
01:13 carbs and veggies and get ready for the game.
01:15 Usually like three hours before the game.
01:16 What song does Stephen Curry listen to before games?
01:21 It depends on my mood.
01:23 I have a playlist that is probably like an hour long
01:25 that has all type of music.
01:28 It's got some rap, some R&B, some Christian rap,
01:31 some gospel, some country.
01:33 It's got literally everything on there,
01:35 but I would say Lupe Fiasco and Lecrae
01:38 are like the two featured artists
01:40 on most of my pre-game playlists.
01:42 Why Stephen Curry is called Chef?
01:47 This is a very hot topic at our house,
01:49 so I get the nickname Chef Curry.
01:52 Drake dropped the first line, "Chef Curry with a pot,"
01:55 which is obviously a call to me
01:57 kind of cooking him up on the court.
01:58 The real Chef Curry is Aisha Curry.
02:01 Borrow the nickname every once in a while
02:02 when I'm on the court, but she's the real Chef Curry.
02:04 Why Steph Curry is underrated?
02:07 Growing up in the game, I was always, you know,
02:10 the skinniest kid on the court.
02:12 I was a three-star recruit.
02:13 Didn't really get all the major offers.
02:15 I knew I could play with the best of the best in the country.
02:17 I knew that even though I was a late bloomer
02:19 and didn't pass the eye test,
02:20 that I could excel at the highest level.
02:23 I just needed the opportunity to showcase my skills
02:26 and that underrated mindset is part of my DNA forever.
02:29 So no matter how many accolades and accomplishments I've had,
02:31 I still carry that as motivation and inspiration
02:34 to prove to myself more than anybody
02:37 that I'm capable of doing great things on and off the court.
02:41 That's the underrated mindset.
02:42 When you told me when I went to Davidson,
02:44 would I ever have a documentary about this part of my life?
02:47 I would've been like, "What are you talking about?
02:49 "What does that even mean?"
02:50 But now knowing that all the great things
02:53 that have happened and everything that was born
02:56 in that experience that I had those three years,
02:58 it's the perfect title for the origin story
03:01 of everything that I've been able to accomplish.
03:03 Why was Stephen Curry drafted so late?
03:06 Some would say seven is not so late, seven out of 60.
03:11 There were three other point guards
03:12 that were drafted ahead of me.
03:13 And obviously, over the last 15 years,
03:16 I've tried to excel at the highest level
03:18 and make that seventh draft pick status
03:21 look really, really low.
03:22 So it's kind of a revisionist history
03:24 a little bit on that one.
03:25 But I love the fact that seven is now seen as way too late.
03:30 Where did Stephen Curry meet his wife?
03:36 I met Aisha junior year of high school
03:39 at our church youth group.
03:40 So we didn't go to the same high school,
03:42 didn't really date, we're in the same circle of friends,
03:44 and then dated about three or four years later.
03:47 And the rest is history.
03:49 Stephen Curry best shots?
03:52 I mean, the OKC shot, the big three
03:54 in game six of the 2022 finals.
03:57 There's a lot of them, so that's nice.
03:59 We're talking just basketball and not golf.
04:01 I had a very recently, a hole in one
04:03 at the American Century Classic on the seventh hole,
04:05 it was 152 yards, it was pitch and wedge.
04:07 And then I had a nice little 20 foot eagle putt
04:09 to win the tournament.
04:10 So my first ever tournament win there.
04:13 So I had some really good golf ones too.
04:14 Does Stephen Curry play defense?
04:17 I love that, that's a hell of a question.
04:20 The answer is yes, but sometimes.
04:23 Stephen Curry shoe size?
04:25 Wear a size 12 and a half, sometimes a 13,
04:28 depending on the kicks.
04:30 - Any idea who might have the biggest in the league?
04:31 - Probably in the history league, I would say Shaq.
04:34 But right now, probably either KD or Joel Embiid maybe,
04:38 just based off of shoe size.
04:40 Stephen Curry night night?
04:43 That was my little game clenching celebration
04:45 anytime he hit a big shot.
04:48 It's kind of like put him to sleep,
04:49 put the kids to bed.
04:50 It became kind of the wave after the finals in '22,
04:54 hit a lot of different sports.
04:56 Still showed itself every once in a while,
04:58 so pretty cool moment.
04:59 Alrighty, will Stephen Curry be in the Hall of Fame?
05:05 I sure hope so.
05:06 Hopefully that's pretty much guaranteed at this point.
05:08 Not gonna slow me down at all to acknowledge that,
05:11 but hopefully that's pretty much guaranteed.
05:13 Stephen Curry tips on shooting.
05:15 It all starts with balance.
05:17 So if you look at the greatest shooters
05:19 in the history of the league,
05:20 nobody shoots the same as somebody else.
05:22 So we've all kind of perfected our mechanics
05:25 and are able to repeat the same release
05:27 and the same shooting tempo, form, balance
05:30 every single time we shoot.
05:31 But it all starts in your feet.
05:32 If you have bad feet, bad balance,
05:34 you're never gonna be able to release the ball
05:36 the way that you want to
05:37 and have the accuracy and consistency
05:38 that you need to be called a great shooter.
05:40 So it all starts with your feet.
05:42 Stephen Curry lifestyle.
05:45 Wow.
05:45 I don't even know how to define the lifestyle
05:47 of just being an all around great guy.
05:50 I just like to have fun.
05:52 I like to enjoy my life,
05:53 enjoy the things I get to do,
05:54 be present in the moment,
05:56 take some chances,
05:57 extend your comfort zone a little bit,
06:00 on and off the court, on and off the course, family.
06:03 Just trying to have fun
06:04 and enjoy the blessings that God's given me.
06:06 That's the lifestyle.
06:07 Stephen Curry legacy.
06:09 You know, being able to change the game
06:11 and what we stand for, changing the game for good.
06:14 A lot of the ways that the game is played now,
06:18 I feel like I've had a huge part in that.
06:19 How people see their ability to be creative on the court,
06:22 stretch their range, stretch their imagination,
06:24 but then also off the court,
06:26 providing a lot of opportunity and inspiration
06:28 for people to find their true potential in life
06:30 and trying to be a big inspiration in that part as well.
06:33 Who did Stephen Curry beat in the NBA finals?
06:38 We beat Cleveland three times, 15, 17, and 18.
06:43 And we beat Boston in the 22 finals.
06:46 Four and two in the finals.
06:47 We lost to Cleveland once and we lost to Toronto.
06:50 You gotta win something or you lose something.
06:51 It's all good.
06:52 - Is there a performance of those four
06:53 that you felt most proud of?
06:54 - Definitely game four of the 2022 finals.
06:58 That was a hostile environment and we were down 2-1.
07:01 We needed to win that to give ourselves some life
07:03 and had one of my best games of my career,
07:05 considering the magnitude of that moment, for sure.
07:08 Stephen Curry eye color.
07:10 I'm the green-eyed monster,
07:12 as my mom used to call me when I was a little kid.
07:14 So we have some good eyes on our family.
07:16 Stephen Curry, unanimous MVP.
07:19 That was an unreal year.
07:21 It was the '73 and '9 year.
07:22 It was also the year we lost in the NBA finals.
07:25 To be the first unanimous MVP winner in NBA history
07:30 was crazy.
07:31 There's been so many amazing athletes
07:33 that I'm following in their footsteps.
07:34 So it was special.
07:35 I do remember exactly where I was when they announced it.
07:37 I was sitting right underneath the TV at my house
07:40 on a creek.
07:41 And the whole family went crazy.
07:42 So very, very special moment, for sure.
07:45 Stephen Curry half court shots.
07:47 It's hilarious 'cause some people have sent me the link
07:50 of like there's a compilation
07:51 of all the half court shots that I've made.
07:53 The funny part is I try, I practice all of them,
07:55 you know, whenever I'm in the gym.
07:57 It's how I end every workout pretty much.
07:59 And most of the shots that you see in the game,
08:01 it's not the first time I've either taken or making them.
08:03 'Cause I just like to have fun when I'm in the gym
08:05 and that usually involves kind of checking them
08:07 from half court every once in a while.
08:08 There's a lot of people that, you know,
08:11 I wanna wait till right after the buzzer to throw it up.
08:13 'Cause if it goes in, it's really cool.
08:15 But if they miss, it doesn't count towards the stats.
08:17 I really don't care what my percentage is
08:19 'cause I'm gonna keep shooting them.
08:20 Stephen Curry records.
08:22 It sounds like I got a studio or something.
08:26 Like I'm out here putting out all the greatest
08:28 and latest music.
08:29 Nah.
08:30 My most special record, I guess, is the 2974,
08:33 which is still now stretching into the 3000s
08:35 of three pointers made,
08:36 which I'm trying to keep stretching the record there
08:39 in the NBA history.
08:40 There's been a lot of great shooters,
08:42 Reggie Miller, Ray Allen, even my dad.
08:44 Hope to keep pushing it where it's untouchable,
08:47 but I know how the game has changed.
08:48 So I'm assuming that somebody's gonna be coming behind
08:50 and we'll challenge it at some point,
08:52 but hopefully not anytime soon.
08:54 Can Stephen Curry dunk?
08:58 I used to be able to.
09:00 I definitely can.
09:01 You won't see it in the games that often
09:03 'cause now I'm in the business of, you know,
09:05 conserving, you know, energy.
09:06 Two points is two points, as they always say.
09:08 So take the layup.
09:09 'Cause I've definitely missed a bunch of dunks.
09:11 I think you can look it up a highlight reel of dunks
09:13 that I've had in my career, which is cool.
09:15 I am 6'3", so I should be able to get up there.
09:18 How does Stephen Curry train?
09:20 You know, I really pride myself on the work
09:22 that I put into the game,
09:24 whether it's in the weight room, you know,
09:25 my skill set on the court, conditioning,
09:28 and what they call the unseen hours.
09:30 I really pride myself on the work ethic
09:31 'cause that's the only way that I can be successful.
09:33 It's the gift that keeps on giving.
09:35 You gotta keep putting in the time to get the results.
09:37 - Do you do a lot of golf prep,
09:39 or does this just come natural?
09:40 - Let's say if I put in 100 hours on basketball,
09:44 probably about 10 hours of golf.
09:46 It's the hardest sport in the world to try to master.
09:49 I don't think anybody has other than Tiger
09:51 and maybe Jack Nicklaus.
09:52 I do obsess over it a lot,
09:53 so I watch a lot of swing videos.
09:55 What is Stephen Curry's wingspan?
09:58 This is a sour spot for me.
10:00 A lot of guys in the NBA have longer wingspans
10:03 and they're height way better on defense,
10:05 can steal the ball, can block shots.
10:07 So there's a lot of guys who are like 6'5",
10:09 6'9", or 6'10" wingspans.
10:11 I am the average 6'3" guy with 6'3" wingspan,
10:14 so nothing remarkable there at all.
10:16 That's what I got.
10:17 Where is Steph Curry on the scoring list?
10:21 I wanna say I'm like 48th or something like that,
10:24 but I don't know where I'm at.
10:25 - Was there anyone you felt significant passing?
10:27 - It sounds crazy 'cause it was a long time ago, Pops,
10:30 but my dad, most of his career,
10:34 especially towards the end and all the milestones
10:36 that he had, so to pass him the scoring books
10:38 is just something that's special.
10:41 He played 16 years in the NBA
10:43 and that was always a goal of mine.
10:44 So I'm entering year 15, I'm almost there,
10:46 but I feel like I got a lot left.
10:48 Just trying to enjoy the experience and the process.
10:51 All right, we got through all of those boards.
10:53 There's some great questions, some weird ones in there too.
10:56 I actually did learn a little bit about myself
10:57 through these questions too, so.
10:58 'Til next time, we out.
11:00 [BLANK_AUDIO]
