00:00 Hello, my name is Frankie Elliott and I'm here with your daily Sussex World News Bulletin
00:07 on Tuesday, August 3rd. Here are the top three stories from across East and West Sussex today.
00:13 First, a fire has broken out in a Horsham restaurant in the early hours of Thursday
00:17 morning, August 3rd. Emergency services were called to a restaurant in Market Square just
00:23 before 6 o'clock a.m. Crews from Horsham and Billinghurst Fire Station attended the blaze
00:29 and according to West Sussex Fire and Rescue, the fire is now under control and a small
00:33 crew remain on the scene. Next, a 16-year-old boy has been arrested in an East Sussex village
00:40 on suspicion of possession of a bladed article according to police. Police said they responded
00:49 to a report of a man with a knife in New Road, Henningley, at around 9.20 a.m. on Wednesday,
00:54 August 2nd. An eyewitness said armed police, a helicopter and a dog unit were called to
00:59 the incident. The 16-year-old boy was arrested in Henningley on suspicion of possession of
01:05 a bladed article and also Class B drug, namely cannabis, with intent to supply. He remains
01:11 in police custody at this time. And finally, angry residents in a village near Horsham
01:17 are raising fresh concerns over the appalling state of local roads. Many of the roads in
01:22 South Water are plagued with potholes which have been getting steadily worse for months.
01:27 Now residents are demanding to know just when repairs are likely to take place. Roads around
01:32 Linnelock Square are particularly badly affected with drivers frequently swerving across the
01:36 road in a bid to avoid the deep grooves in the tarmac. Following complaints, South Water
01:41 Parish Council submitted a comprehensive road condition survey to West Sussex County Council
01:46 Highway Department back in April in a bid to demonstrate the severity of the problem.
01:52 County Highways officers later inspected the area and identified Worthing Road northbound,
01:56 nearby the bus stop areas and the entrance to Fairbank Road, an area near Pipers Close
02:01 as areas that needed repairs. For more on these stories and others like them, visit
02:06 the Sussex World website and keep up to date on our social media pages. That's all from
02:10 me today, have a great rest of your Thursday.
