00:00 I don't know if I can tell you what the emotion was honestly it was it was definitely a flush of emotions.
00:04 Hearing Jimmy
00:06 announced first was was really very
00:09 very enjoyable for me.
00:11 Seeing the look on his face and the tears well up in his eyes and the video for him.
00:15 So I was kind of still like hanging on that but when they announced my name it was
00:19 there was a sense of relief and enjoyment and maybe a little fulfillment as well.
00:24 I think all that comes from leadership and that's just starts at the top with Mr. Hendrick. Obviously he
00:29 he is a great man. He cares about racing. He cares about the people at Hendrick Motorsports.
00:34 He always says that we work as a family and that's exactly the way we've grown and I think you can see that.
00:40 We've had our turmoil and we've had our challenges and we've had our successes and the thing that's always been most important is to continue to push through and in advance.
00:49 And that's one thing that Rick always does a really good job of putting really good people together.
00:52 And I think that's the biggest reason. My children never had the opportunity to see me do what I did.
00:58 But that was because of the timing wasn't right. I wasn't prepared to do that at that point in my life.
01:02 So it's fun for them to see the videos. My son saw the
01:06 ballot video and he wanted to watch it over and over and over again.
01:10 So he kind of puts it together and he kind of gets it.
01:13 So I'm really hoping we can experience this as a family and have a really good time and enjoy it.
01:17 And you know one day hopefully I can bring him back here and he can see me hanging on the wall somewhere which would be fantastic.
01:22 Reflecting on the people that helped me get here.
01:26 We can go all the way back to the folks that worked with me in the Midwest.
01:28 The people I worked with in Alabama. The people that I worked with here in Charlotte at different times.
01:33 So there's so many people that I wouldn't be here if it wasn't for them.
01:36 And the way that they pushed me and the way they enabled me to go ahead and continue to follow my dreams.
01:41 So it's it's gonna be a lot of reflection that night which would be nice.
01:44 I hope that people remember that I was a passionate racer.
01:47 That I and our teams put everything we had into the industry into the sport.
01:52 And that I was a pretty good guy.
01:54 You know all in all. And if I can have that legacy I think it'd be good.
