00:00 Hello again, Connor Gormley here.
00:01 I'm a trainee reporter for Sussex World
00:03 and these are some of our top stories
00:05 from across both counties today.
00:08 A four-day music festival set to take place
00:10 in the South Downs has been canceled at short notice,
00:12 Sussex World can report.
00:14 The One Love Festival was all set to take place
00:16 on the privately owned Hyden Estate at Washington
00:19 from August 10th to the 13th.
00:21 But after a contractor pulled out,
00:23 festival organizers said they had no choice but to cancel.
00:27 It's a real shame because the popular festival
00:29 has been held every year for the last 15,
00:32 but organizers are now saying that this is the end
00:34 of the event for the foreseeable future.
00:36 The contractor in question pulled out
00:38 on the eve of an important deadline,
00:40 a spokesperson told us,
00:41 and Horsham District Council could not extend the deadline,
00:45 which unfortunately meant they had to revoke
00:47 the festival's event license.
00:48 It's really, really unfortunate,
00:50 but they wanted to make clear
00:51 that it's not the council's fault.
00:53 Companies have been ordered to pay
00:55 more than 2.2 million pounds by the High Court
00:58 after a devastating hotel fire at the George Inn in Rye.
01:02 Sorry, no, at the George in Rye.
01:06 Allen Boswell Insurance Brokers Limited
01:08 and New India Assurance Company Limited
01:10 were ordered to pay by a Deputy High Court Judge
01:13 last Thursday.
01:15 The fire took place in July 2019
01:17 and led to a massive two-year closure
01:20 as owners led an extensive restoration project
01:22 to repair the damage and get themselves back on their feet.
01:24 The judge said the New India Assurance Company
01:26 was liable for business interruption,
01:28 lost stock, and other losses,
01:31 while Allen Boswell Insurance Brokers were liable
01:33 for uninsured loss of rental income,
01:35 and so ordered them to pay.
01:37 In much lighter news though,
01:39 the yearly pram race took place in Hastings last week,
01:42 and Sussex World has dozens of fantastic photos from the day.
01:45 The pram race is often described
01:47 as the best night of Old Town Carnival Week
01:49 and features teams in fancy dress
01:52 racing through Old Town,
01:53 pushing elaborately designed prams
01:54 for a range of fantastic causes.
