Rep. Herrera urges DOE, NEA to pursue underground laying of power, telecom lines
Transcript
00:00 Deputy Minority Leader Bernadette Herrera has urged those in the telco and power generation
00:05 industry to seriously consider the option of having power lines and telcom cables laid out
00:10 underground. This after several electric posts went down due to the incessant rains and strong
00:15 winds causing much inconvenience to residents and motorists in certain areas around the country.
00:21 The lawmaker suggested the DOE and NIA craft a long-term plan to make such an ambitious
00:26 and tedious undertaking possible. She further said this is very suitable to the Philippines,
00:32 not only is it more safe and visually appealing, but it also prevents accidents like electric
00:37 posts falling or crashing down, especially when weather disturbances and calamities ravage the
00:42 country. Also, the lower house Solon believes this will also help tourism in the long run
00:47 as sometimes unsightly electric and telecommunication connections will be concealed underground.
